It is most schools norm to have a well outlined dressing code that acts as a guide on what children should wear and what not to while at school.
But there are a few cases where some parents feel that their child should not really be subjected to a certain dressing code rule. Some will have religious beliefs to support their actions.Like this form one girl who failed to get admission to a secondary school due to her long hair. The school required all their students to shave their hair for them to be admitted to the school.
But the girl belonged to a church that believed that it was disrespectful to God for a woman to shave her head clean. The girls parents felt that it was a violation of the girl’s freedom of worship and a right to education. The girl was ready to be admitted to another school so long as she kept her long hair.

Then another scenario involving a 9-year old boy who had dreadlocks in a certain city school. This did not go well with the school administration and the boy was suspended. The boy was required to shave off the dreadlocks in order to continue learning in the institution. The boy’s mother felt that her son was discriminated against and so she sued the school.
But the presiding judge of the case dismissed it on grounds that the boy was not able to prove that his religious and cultural rights have been violated in any way.The judge said that it was clear that the dreadlocks were solely for fashion .And since the boy’s mother had signed to agree to the school’s rules and regulations, then she had no option but to respect them.
I think that parents should know that a school is a learning institutions that ought to be governed well for the good of their children.
The future of their children is more important and that is why we have schools to model them.
