Prompt for the Day: “Apology”

The defensive people at the Daily Press division of Word Press want us to create works of art based on the word “Apology“.

Seems My Life Needs Apology for Even Existing

Why do I waste the air I breathe in each second of every day I exist on this miserable planet?  The mere water I drink could be better used to grow food for other creatures on this celestial body called Earth.  Am protective of young kids and defenceless animals.  My subsistence should not interfere with other creatures here at all!

If you would like to contact me, all you have to do is  send an email to hallenterprises132@gmail.com    All responses will be read by me personally.  Thanks for you contribution of comments!

Ever feel like you live a pointless life? I used to handle the network traffic for major companies, including the U.S.A. Department of Homeland Defence, but am no longer able to handle those types of positions due to being confined to a wheelchair by a disease known as multiple sclerosis.  I miss the daily challenges of telling data packets not only where to go, but also how to get there!

Please Help Fight Evil Disease

The medicine my neurologist prescribed for me to treat my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. If you would like to contribute to my fight against this mind stealing disease, please contribute by visit my personal website at http://saintpblogging.com/wp/ and seeing the copies of my writings located there!

Prompt for the Day: “A Tale of Two Cities”

Think Charles Dickens wrote a book with the title of today’s prompt which is “A Tale of Two Cities“.  The Daily Post group of Word Press also asked us a question-“If you could split your time evenly between two places, and two places only, which would these be?”

City number One

The first city would have to be the place in which our current home is located.  Saint Paul, Minnesota is where we put the down payment on purchasing an older house.  That was back in 2004.  Have lived here happily since we moved in.  Have gotten a wheelchair ramp installed to let me come and go all by myself in my wheelchair.

There is plenty of public transportation widely available 24 hours a day for the handicapped citizens.  Many libraries, museums, and other cultural places exist here in the city.  Our neighbors are also really easy to get along with.

City Two

Traditionally, the area we live in is referred to as the twin cities.  Minneapolis is the larger of the two cities.  There is way too much violence in Minneapolis for my liking, which is why I didn’t even consider it as a place to live permanently.  They normally have a fight a day, sometimes resulting in a murder or two.

Minneapolis is where I have to go to visit my doctors and get my medicines.  The nursing staff in the Noran Clinic, where I go is excellent!

Please help fight my disease

Prompt for the Day: “It Builds Character”

The people from the Daily Post division of Word Press posed a challenge to start us creating our next characters for our next writing projects with the following prompt “It Builds Character“.  They added a statement, followed by a question-“Tell us about a favorite character from film, theater, or literature, with whom you’d like to have a heart-to-heart. What would you talk about?”

My favorite Character

Prefer him in the books, but own copies of the filmmaker’s interpretation of him, too.  The person is none other than the young wizard Harry Potter!  Was raised by his aunt and uncle along with his cousin.  They all treated him cruelly, keeping him from knowing the truth about how his parents had died.  He managed to overcome their crappy raising to befriend most people who met him.

His best friends were Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.  The three of them fight against the evils of the world, both helping and teaching others along the way!  Displays a good example of friendship today’s kids could learn from.  Would like to ask Harry how he managed to face his worst fear, fighting Lord Voldemort.  Considering my worst fear is getting a MRI, because of my claustrophobia.

Please help fight my disease

Prompt for the Day: “One More Time”

The people at the Daily Post group of Word Press submitted the following prompt to get our writing engines primed for the day “One More Time“.  They also included a single question “If you were able to relive one day from the last 12 months, which day would it be — and why?”

Got FREEDOM back

Would have to be the day that the gentlemen from the Ramps.orgfinished my wheelchair ramp from the back yard gate to our back door of our house!  Now I could finally come and go as often as I wanted or needed to.  They gave me my freedom back that day.

The guys were very polite and friendly.  Let them know what day I had one of my infusions scheduled for, so that they would have a way my husband could get me over the construction site to make my appointment.  Had to promise I wouldn’t use it without help until I signed the paperwork that the project was fully completed.  They picked up every single scrap of wood, nails, screws, and other trash just as rain started to pour down!  As much as I wanted to, did not go out and test the ramp out until the next day (not raining).  Was able to successfully navigate out the back door down the wooden walk way they had built all by myself! Reached the driveway of our detached garage needing absolutely no help from anyone.

Please help fight my disease

Post of the Day: “Truth Serum”

The twisted minds at the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with the writing prompt of “Truth Serum” for today.  They also added the following question – “You’ve come into possession of one vial of truth serum. Who would you give it to (with the person’s consent, of course) — and what questions would you ask?”

I would like to try to have my husband take it.  That way I could learn the true reason why he is refusing to return to the chiropractor.  Know his back still bothers him, so why won’t he go visit the man for an adjustment?  Is he that worried about the cost?
[blog_subscription_form]
Considering the amount of money we waste on my medicines to help me survive with my multiple sclerosis, why shouldn’t we spend some to help his back?  Just doesn’t make any good sense to me!  Maybe I am just not looking at the issue in the correct perspective of life.  Or am I just completely insane?  Who really knows.

Should we stock pile a mess of this truth serum to gain access to the minds of criminals.  We might be able to prevent terrorism this way!  Or are we taking away their personal rights to their own thoughts, no matter how demented they may be?  Not a decision I am either qualified or willing to make.  Prefer my simple illusions of a honest world.  Was taught to tell the truth at all times.   Still abide by my upbringing!

Prompt for the Day: “Trick Questions”

The prompt for the day from the wizardry community of the Daily Post division of Word Press is “Trick Questions“.  They made a statement then asked one in-depth question:”A Pulitzer-winning reporter is writing an in-depth piece — about you. What are the three questions you really hope she doesn’t ask you?”

Thought the fact that they mentioned the reporter was female was definitely a favorable sign.  Most other writers generally do not lower themselves to admit a person of the female gender has written a good work!

Hope she doesn’t ask why I left the state of Colorado willingly back at the end of 2004.  Should have put up a bigger fight about leaving my doctor and neurologist’s care.  We also left all the friends I had made with our neighbors and former coworkers with out much of a way to contact them.  Still miss them all very much.

Also hope she doesn’t ask why I did not pursue a lawsuit against the employer I made the mistake of trying to work for in Superior, WI.  They blatantly discriminated against me being in and out of my wheelchair, due to my multiple sclerosis.  Without access to the medicines from my neurologist, I was in constant pain.

Hope she doesn’t ask me why I wanted to end my life.  Ended up calling a friend to say “Good bye”, because I was going to kill myself.  She had me give her the address where we were living now and told me to write a letter to my husband saying good bye to him.  Considering I had already started the letter, just finished it off.

Took the letter and placed it on the kitchen table, when someone started pounding on the front door.  Stupidly, I answered it, not knowing who it could be.  Turned out to be a local sheriff, who my friend had gotten in touch with.  He had me grab a change of clothes and stuff I would need at the mental facility he was forcing me to get admitted in to.

Visitation of Ghost or Spirit of Grandfather

My mother’s parents were both heavy smokers.  Grandma was hooked on cigarettes, grandpa’s demon was cigars.  He accidentally burned a hole in my terry cloth shirt when I was about 3 years old.  Fortunately I didn’t even notice, but it scared him really bad.  He suffered from emphysema, which was probably caused by working as a sailor with the United States Navy.

Used to help him at his last civilian job as a cemetery grounds keeper at the local cemetery in the town he lived with his wife.  He was very good at keeping the site clean and ready for funerals.  There was a wasp’s nest in the shed were they stored all the cleaning supplies and lawn mowers, etc.  He had asked the cities board to have the nests removed before a mourner got accidentally stung.  He was deathly allergic to their stings, too.  One day while my mom and grandma were away shopping an hour or so away, he was baby sitting me for the day.  We went out to the cemetery to clean up from the previous day’s funeral.  I was picking up the trash left in the grass when I felt a stinging pain, and my breathing throat started to choke off my air ways.  He was no where around, I felt faint.  Ended up unconscious on the grass where I had fallen!  Good thing he saw me go down.  He always kept an emergency supply of epinephrine on him, due to his allergies.  He injected me with the drug.  Then got me sitting up.  Told me to stay where I was while he shut off the machines in the area.

He came back to where he had left me.  Was starting to feel a little better.  He helped me walk over to his pickup truck.  We got in and he drove back to his house.  He made lunch for the two of us, while keeping an eye on me to make sure I didn’t have any bad reactions to the medicine he had given me.

Years later, I left home for college.  Went out of state, to get away from my parents.  His health unfortunately was deteriorating.  He made me promise not to get married until I graduated from college.  Dated a round in college, until I met a guy that reminded me of my grandpa.

Fell in love with the guy’s voice.  When we met for the first time, I was over the moon in love!  He looked just like the pictures I had seen of my grandpa when he was our age.  Both were 6 foot 3 inches tall with dark black hair.  Even the musculature was the same!

Got him to visit my home town with me once.  My mom approved of him.  My father hated him (plus in my opinion!).  Introduced him around town to the few friends I had left there.

My junior year in college, he moved into my apartment with me since my roommate was leaving.  My mom knew and approved of the decision.  Wasn’t too long and I asked him to marry me!  He flat out turned me down.

Next time we went back home, he wanted to ask my father for provision first before asking to marry me.  Told him if he did that, I wouldn’t marry him!  If he wanted to ask someone, then he should ask my grandfather!  Grandpa had finally given up his cigars.  So when we went for Sunday lunch at my grandparent’s like normal, I left him with grandpa at the kitchen table alone. Explained to my grandma what was going on in the kitchen.  Grandpa made him promise not to marry me until I had graduated and never to leave me heart broken.

He came back into the front room of my grandparent’s house smiling!  We drove the 6 hour drive back to out apartment with the left overs from my grandparent’s house safely packaged in a sealed container.

He proposed to me ring in hand, the day before a big physics exam.  Needless to say, I failed the test!  Had too much on my mind.  I wore my engagement ring to work the next day without telling anyone, to see who would notice.  My coworkers and my boss wanted to know when we were getting hitched.

We literally ended up getting married the day after I received my diploma!  Rehearsal was the day of graduation, since my godparents were going to be there anyway (my godmother was the organist for our wedding).  My grandparents from my father’s side were there.  Some of my coworkers attended.  My grandparent’s from my mother’s side were both in too bad of health to make the journey.

My grandmother from my mom’s side of the family ended up in the hospital for problems with her lungs again.  My mom had to take care of my grandpa while she was hospitalized.  Eventually, grandma was able to return home to her husband.  She told me I was not to visit my grandpa anymore, because he gets too worked up from seeing me.

I moved away to the Chicago metro area of Illinois, because I had gotten a new and better job.  Stayed there for 18 months, then moved to Colorado.  That was 1998.  We started purchasing a older home in Aurora, CO.  Grandpa was still not doing too well.  The terrorist attack on 9/11/2001, just about did my grandfather in!  His breathing was getting worse by the days.  He had real trouble talking on the phone, because of lack of breath.  Constantly hooked up to oxygen now, but grandma kept smoking away!

One day, got this really bad feeling something was wrong with my grandpa.  Tried calling my mom.  My father answered the phone telling me she was in at my grandparent’s house because grandpa was having real extreme breathing problems.  I was not supposed to be bothering them right now.

Found out he passed away that evening.  My father got mad at me for having these premonitions of my grandpa passing away.  Apparently, good  Christian people should not have these types of feelings.  Asked him  to let me know about the funeral arrangements.

Grandpa visited me in my house and told me not to let the local VFW get involved in his funeral and he was feeling much better now!  My husband and I made the trip back to IL for a final time.  For some reason I did not cry at the funeral.  Grandpa was finally at peace, but I still felt him with me.

The tears came later when we made it back to Colorado.  My grandma’s lung cancer landed her in the hospital a little after a year from her husband passing.  Grandpa visited me to get me to deliver a message to my mom to make sure grandma had roses on her casket from him at her funeral.

When I am feeling down he reminds me that I am his mother’s great-granddaughter.  She was an American Black Foot Indian.  He taught me all about her Indian beliefs.

Prompt for the Day: “The New School”

The prompt the wonderful people at the Daily Post group of Word Press gave us for the day is: “The New School“.  They also gave us a suggestion followed by two thought provoking questions: “You get to redesign school as we know it from the ground up. Will you do away with reading, writing, and arithmetic? What skills and knowledge will your school focus on imparting to young minds?”

First off the school will have to be completely handicap accessible!  Children may have been born with natural physical limitations, they need to still be able to be included at the school.  Will still concentrate on reading, writing, and math (just not the dreaded Common Core of today)!  Music will be included in some form in the school.  Deaf students may possibly enjoy the physical vibrations caused by the music.  Blind students have absolutely no difficulties hearing the music!

Kids should all learn skills necessary for daily survival out in today’s world.  Basic self defense classes could teach the children how to defend themselves from other creatures existing in the world today!  People have a huge bad habit of taking advantage of the weak.  Kids need to know what to do.  Actual animals like dogs could also be a threat to kids.

Search for what each kid has to offer the world.  You may come across the next military leader the world needs to discover to insure we will see peace, some day!  A budding artist may be attending the school, you just have to give them the opportunity to hone their skills.  The next William Faulkner‘s mind may exist in your very classrooms!

You just need to give the kids a chance to shine at their own talents that you will help them discover.  Give them exposure to as much information as you can, then step back.  No idea how the kids will benefit from their exposure, give them time and encouragement!

Prompt for the Day: “Must Not Fail”

The challenge the people at the the Daily Post part of Word Press set for us was “Must Not Fail“.  Personally, I fail constantly!  How else would I ever learn to improve myself?

Failing is one of my many specialties!  I fail to be coordinated, fail to be able to walk unaided, fail to think clearly these days, need I continue?  Can’t even handle laying on a doctor’s examination table with out falling off and breaking my glasses. That’s why I now have the tag “fall hazard” attached to my doctor’s visits.  Most of the time the staff relies on my husband to transfer me safely onto the tables.  Have to insist they put the safety bars up on the table while I am on it.  They seem to think I am exaggerating when I explain it to them.

Just do not enjoy uncontrolled falling for some unthinkable reason.  Call me crazy if you must, it is just the way I am.

Took a Taekwondo  class with the man I was dating near the end of my college career.  (We ended up getting married the day after I graduated!)  My theory was I would learn how to take a fall better.  Ended up getting diagnosed with multiple sclerosis right after we got married. Talk about a fall I failed to avoid!

Actually purchased my first wheelchair months before my actual diagnoses was ever given to me.  Failed at the use of a cane.  Tripped over it more than it ever helped me.  Since having had used crutches in high school due to orthopedic knee surgery and being pushed off them by school mates, do not trust being on them around the general public.  So I went to a doctor to get a prescription for a wheelchair.  Thankfully, the place I worked at the time got my work space set up so that I could still preform my job.

That was back when employers actually tried to retain their employees.  Miss those days so much!

Prompt for the Day: “Out of Reach”

The choice of words for the Daily Prompt for today is “Out of Reach“.  When you only stand a lowly five feet one inch,  what isn’t out of reach?  If you want to be even more realistic am a short person confined to a wheelchair, due to multiple sclerosis.

My life is basically out of reach these days.  Dreamt of being an astronaut when I was little, didn’t find out until college there was a height requirement.  That dream was several inches out of my reach.  Dated a boy in college with major mommy issues.  Ended up breaking up with him.  The ass wipe then broke into my apartment and stole a pair of my underwear!  Tried getting the local police to do something to help.  They just about laughed at me to my face.  So the security of getting police help was way out of reach while living in that apartment complex!

Took a chance using a local dating service.  Met some more real losers.  Answered a want ad from the local newspaper of a guy looking for companionship.  He was better than the first people I met from the dating service, but he just wanted a one night stand.  Finally saw a guy from the dating service that looked interesting.  Only problem was he worked nights at the local G.E. plant.  We agreed to meet at a local restaurant after he got off work one night.  Basically ended up being just about love at first sight.  The only thing out of reach was we met after midnight and I had an early college class the next day.  We went our separate ways with the exchange of phone numbers.

He called me up in the after noon of the next day.  At a more reasonable hour we met again at the same place.  We started talking about where we were currently living.  Told him what road I lived on.  He then told me the name of the apartment complex I lived in!  Scared the shit out of me.  Was this guy a stalker or what?  He laughed and told me he lived in the same complex!  Just on a different side of the mass of buildings.  We each were using different laundry areas or we would have met earlier.  After we had finished our meals we went to our own vehicles.

He called me later to talk before he left for work.  I was smitten.  He was not so far out of my reach!
