Prompt for the Day: “A Brand New You, Effective Tomorrow”

The people from the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with the prompt of “A Brand New You, Effective Tomorrow” for today’s prompt.  They added a few statements, and a single powerful question-“Tomorrow you get to become anyone in the world that you wish. Who are you? You can choose to be anyone alive today, or someone gone long ago. If you decide to stay “you” share your rationale.”

I’d be a Successful Author

I’d become Jeaniene Frost.  She is an American fantasy author.  Maybe I should start writing less blogs about health troubles and start creating a world of my own.  Sounds like a winning idea to me!  Let my characters die from bloody fights, not withered away by some evil disease.  Always liked being a vampire at Halloween anyway.  Grossing others out with blood dripping from my mouth was fun!

Think vampires would be my main paranormal creatures in my books.  They have some great hidden abilities.  The whole not dying thing gives them an advantage over mere human characters.  Have no knowledge of paranormal creatures, other than have read a book or two  with werewolves.  Those characters are not as fun as the vampire characters can be.  Guess you now know what is going on my “To-Do” list!

The medicine my neurologist has me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri.  Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is impossible.  I remember when I first started on it , the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500.  There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days!  Biogen (the manufacturing drug company) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely.  So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.  To contribute to the fund, click on the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/zfabhdes

Prompt for the Day: “Childhood Revisited”

The evil people from the Daily Post division of Word Press want to make me relive my childhood nightmares again by choosing the daily prompt of “Childhood Revisited“.  They added as single question followed by a searing statement-“What is your earliest memory? Describe it in detail, and tell us why you think that experience was the one to stick with you.”

My Living Nightmare!

My childhood was never unicorns and lollipops!  The earliest thing I remember is my friend, from the church I was forced to attend by my parents, and I getting spanked by my mom for coloring on the walls of my bedroom with crayons.  My friend was spanked right after me, then her mom was called to come help clean the walls so it would be clean before my father got home.  My mom was not abusive, spanked by using her open hands on our rear ends.  My father was the one I was terrified of!

I started kindergarten at age 4.  My mom dressed me in a dress for my first day of school.  When my father saw me in a dress, he started fondling me under my dress.  As the week wore on, he got worse!  I was a little girl and really confused at what was happening.  Had no idea until long after I was married there was a technical name for what my father did to me.  He had sodomized me!  My body was not big enough to accept him vaginally, so he settled for my rear end.

Once I started my getting my menstrual cycles regularly, he raped me the other way for the first time.  I tried telling my mother, but she had suffered rape herself so she could not handle the idea of her husband doing that to his own little girl!  My father warned me that if I told anyone my grandfather would no longer love me.  My father tried to get me to agree to go on the pill (no more condoms that way), but I refused.  It was not until I had moved far away from home, that my mother began to believe I had told her the truth.

My grandfather passed away, but my mother is still living with my father for some unknown reason (she makes more money than he does by working at the school).  She could pick up and leave any time she really wanted to move on.

Prompt for the Day: “Earworm”

The buggy people at the Daily Post division of Word Press tried to slip a bug into my ears with the prompt for today of “Earworm“.  A single statement was included with the worm-“Write whatever you normally write about, and weave in a book quote, film quote, or song lyric that’s been sticking with you this week.”

Earworm makes me think of:

“The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, the worms play penuchle on your snout!  They eat the goo between your toes, they eat the stuff that’s in your nose!  They make you smell like sour whipped cream, then eat your brains until they turn green!  The worms crawl in…”  Loops in a continuous repeat of the song until your voice is completely gone.

Used  to make my mother sick with that song.  Have no idea how she survived on a working dairy farm with me and my two little brothers,  Used to be an ongoing game to see who could gross her out the worst!  The sight of blood has absolutely no effect on me, so I am hard to make ill from gross things.  What gets me most is actual smells.  The smell of rotten meat or feces from a calf who has a bad case of diarrhea makes me ill!

Prompt for the Day: “Fearless Fantasies”

Some one near to the Daily Post group of Word Press released us of our darkest fears with today’s prompt of “Fearless Fantasies“.  Then they asked us two intriguing questions: “How would your life be different if you were incapable of feeling fear? Would your life be better or worse than it is now?”

My Biggest Fears

Am now severely claustrophobic.  Since my health requires I have regular (minimum of once a year) MRI’s, which means getting inside a loud tiny tube for way too long.  Currently require complete sedation to survive with out going insane!  Not only is it extremely stressing, it is outrageously priced!  The chance to not go through this fearful feeling would be an astounding release of pressure from my life!

My life would be utterly improved without the fear hanging over my head.  No more night mares of being trapped inside the tube while strapped down to the table.  No more trouble drifting off to sleep because of the upcoming testing needing to be completed.  There is supposed to be someone in the MRI center preforming the test while you are in the tube, why won’t the respond when you try to talk to them?

Prompt for the Day: “Young At Heart”

The prompt for today is “Young At Heart“.  The eternal writer’s source of inspiration at the Daily Post division of Word Press asked two additional questions-“What are your thoughts on aging? How will you stay young at heart as you get older?”.

Wish I’d just Die and get it Over With!

Am in my early 40’s, but feel like I am in my upper 80’s due to being confined to a wheelchair by multiple sclerosis!  The house we now live in has floors covering the main floor, which makes moving around in my wheelchair much easier.  Need to get the main floor bathroom converted for me to be able to take a shower by myself when needed.  At the present time my husband has to physically lift me into the tub and put me on my shower chair to safely be able to take a shower.  If his back ever goes out, I am in big trouble!

With all the money we spend on my various prescriptions for different medicines, he would be much more wealthy without me around.  For some unknown reason, he still seems to enjoy my company.  If God would just call me up, things would be so much better!

I write using my laptop to try to keep my mind working daily.  My handwriting is illegible these days, because of unsteadiness of my hands.  So I type.  Learned to type by teaching myself how to use my mother’s old manual typewriter around fourth grade.  Have been handing in typewritten work since I got the hang of using it!

Prompt for the Day: “Un/Faithful”

The sacrilegious people at the Daily Post division of Word Press created the prompt for today of “Un/Faithful”  Then they gave us a single additional instruction: “Tell us about the role that faith plays in your life — or doesn’t.”

My Faith.

My parents forced me to attend and then be confirmed in the faith created and ran by the United Church of Christ.  In my opinion (by age eight) they were only interested in what money I could give them!  Was confirmed in the faith my eighth grade year in school.  Still hated going there to worship every Sunday.  Preferred to do my praying up in an old apple tree in our front yard.  That is where I read, had talks with God, you get the idea.  Was my private sanctuary.

Left home to attend college alone out-of-state.  Tried joining the local UCC, in that town.  They were not interested in letting college kids join their organization.   So I ended up going to another church with a friend I had already made there in college.  She took me to the local Methodist church.  They not only welcomed me, but let me join their adult choir, bell choirs, and made me feel welcome in their community!  We went on yearly outings where we helped the elderly and or other wise disabled people of the area winterize their homes.  Got pretty skilled at putting up window sealants (plastic coverings) on the lower windows.  Caroling trips happened year round as we visited various homes for the retired people in local towns.  Made may friends in that group of people!

Prompt for the Day- “Generous Genies”

The dreamers from the Daily Post division of Word Press dreamed up today’s prompt of “Generous Genies“.  The asked 2 simple questions and gave two statements of encouragement: “Remember those lovely genies who grant wishes? Well, you’re one and you’ve just been emancipated from your restrictive lamp. You can give your three wishes to whomever you want. Who do you give your three wishes to, and why?”

My Husband would get the Wishes!

He basically has to help me with the basic tasks of life, now that I am confined to a wheelchair.  Rely on him for things like taking a shower, since the tub is not handicap accessible (yet).  Leave me to cook a meal and you are waiting for an instant disaster!  Am probably one of the few people who can’t even boil water without messing it up.

As to the last question, why I would do this: He rejected my marriage proposal.  Then later asked me to marry him.  He frustrates me on a regular basis.  Guess that is what love is.  We have been married for over twenty years.  Haven’t done any serious damage to each other, yet!  Anyone who can have put up with me for over 20 years deserves a reward of some kind.

Optic Neuritis (AGAIN)!

Optic neuritis is one of the most common symptoms of multiple sclerosis. I hate it! The only worse multiple sclerosis symptom is the feeling of vertigo. Vertigo makes you want to throw up because you feel like you are on the wave riddled sea during a horrible storm. If I do not take motion sickness medicine, start vomiting uncontrollably from vertigo. With optic neuritis, I simply have to cover the affected eye with a patch and take three ibuprofen pills every four hours.  Sleep also helps rest my eyes, so I take a lot of naps while suffering from the optic problem.

Attack this Time…

Might have been caused by the fish oil supplement that my eye doctor suggested I start taking for the problem of dry eyes that I have been suffering from for years.  Started taking half the suggested dose on Tuesday morning with my regular breakfast (bottle said best if taken with a meal).  Just tried contacting the neurologist’s office, but they are closed (Christmas Eve right now).  So I will just send the office an email asking for advice.  At least I figured out the problem was going on fairly early, like right after it started!  Last time it took several days of headaches for me to catch on to the ongoing problem.

Prompt for the Day: “Exhale”

The people at the Daily Post division of word press who can’t figure out if there even is a glass created the prompt of “Exhale” to sharpen our thoughts around.  Then they included a single statement – “Tell us about a time when everything seemed to be going wrong — and then, suddenly, you knew it would be alright. ”

Am neither optimistic or pessimistic

I just know that and am thankful for the fact I actually have a glass!  Tend to always plan for the worst case scenario while praying for the best out come to happen.  My friends can depend on me to always be prepared for emergencies, what ever may arise.  Know that this fact takes a lot of fun out of life in general, but would rather be safe than sorry for forgetting to check the conditions!

Used to say I was a realist, but that is not quite what my choices make me into.  Even pessimists do not plan as much as I do.  Know for sure I am not an optimist, either.

My life has always been headed for disaster

Until I met my husband, it was one disaster after another.  Once I graduated from college and married the next day things calmed down for a bit.  Had one glorious year of wedded bliss, then my body rebelled!  He had to rush me to the E.R. late one night because my mind was convinced I was falling off the earth.  My body started vomiting uncontrollably.  The people there gave me what amounted to an injection of Dramamine.  Once I was feeling a little better, they sent me home with a prescription for a pill form of the injected medicine.  Although the medicine worked, it was way over priced.  After a bit of research, found out there was an over the counter form much cheaper.  Now carry it with me where ever I go!

Prompt of the Day: “Fandom”

The over enthusiastic cheerleaders from the Daily Post group of Word Press submitted the prompt of “Fandom” to set our minds to work.  They asked a simple question followed by a few sentences-“Are you a sports fan? Tell us about fandom. If you’re not, tell us why not.  Sharing is caring.”

This B.S. again?

Thought the place I grew up in was the only group of idiotic people in the world that placed sports ahead of everything else!  What about basic education for young kids?  Simply helping the older people of our society would be too much of a sacrifice to ask of the general population.   We have to help take care of our returning soldiers from  their service in the military.  They give everything to protect our country, while we remain safely here at home.

Why not throw a huge party for the various people who serve our towns every day like E.M.T.’s, firefighters and police officers?  They deserve a lot more respect than an athlete who just does the same thing repeatedly each day.  Police officers around here have been known to join in an ongoing game with kids while they wait for the school bus to arrive.  Each of the officers joined the two teams of kids in playing a good game of early morning football.  Both the two officers and all the kids had a great clean game until the bus arrived and took the kids off to school.  Why are simple events like this not spotlighted more?
