Purpose

What is your purpose in life? WE all have purpose – whatever it is – we do it because we have a purpose.

What is your purpose here on BlogJob? Most would say to earn money. To experience writing, to gain friends and to have fun.

Because we live not only for ourselves – we have a family and friends. The purpose is to LIVE.

“Find a purpose to serve, not a lifestyle to live.” – I definitely like this quote, short but meaningful.

Below are other quotes that are amazingly meaningful.

“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

“It does not matter how long you are spending on the earth, how much money you have gathered or how much attention you have received. It is the amount of positive vibration you have radiated in life that matters,”
― Amit Ray, Meditation: Insights and Inspirations

“Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life. ― J.D. Stroube, Caged by Damnation

“The greatest thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving.”
― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

― Rumi
“Find a purpose to serve, not a lifestyle to live.”
― Criss Jami, Venus in Arms

Growing Old

Age is just a number. We age and acquire more experiences. The more we grow, the more we gain wisdom. As we age we become more content (am I right?) We set specific goals – to reach. The quote is correct, they grow old because they don’t dream anymore. We get to know who we really are when we grow old, it is also very easy to make decisions.

Below are the quotes I think worthy to read.

“It is not true that people stop pursuing dreams because they grow old, they grow old because they stop pursuing dreams.”
― Gabriel García Márquez

“I live in that solitude which is painful in youth, but delicious in the years of maturity.”
― Albert Einstein

“Growing older is a blurred birth certificate that only can take us to this world’s perplexed journey, but it cannot smear the letters of the epitaph”
― Munia Khan, Beyond The Vernal Mind

“It does not take much to make us realize what fools we are, but the little it takes is long in coming.”
― Flannery O’Connor

“Age has taught me that what other people think of me is none of my business.”
― Jane Tara, The Happy Endings Book Club

“Old is old at any age. Old is when you quit asking questions about this, that, and everything. Old is when you forget how to love-or worse, don’t care. Old is when you don’t want to dance anymore. Old is when you don’t want to learn anything new except how to be old. Old is when people tell you that you are old-and you believe them.”
― Carew Papritz, The Legacy Letters: his Wife, his Children, his Final Gift

“The adult were once young. The young have not yet attained adulthood.”
― Lailah Gifty Akita

“The older I got, the more aware I became of time and how I was wasting mine.”
― Julie Murphy

Growing Up

We need to be matured enough to face the world. Growing up means we need to grow old. Growing up is transitioning to growing old. As an adult, we get to up our priorities, but sometimes we tend not to pursue them because we want to explore the things – new and things that we haven’t experienced in our teenage years. We need to grow up – make wise decisions.

I make mistakes growing up. I’m not perfect; I’m not a robot. Justin Bieber

Growing up, I was a target. Speaking the right way, standing the right way, holding your wrist the right way. Every day was a test, and there were a thousand ways to fail, a thousand ways to betray yourself, to not live up to someone else’s standards of what was accepted, of what was normal. Wentworth Miller

As you become more successful, the gender barrier disappears. The credibility challenges you have during your growing up years starts disappearing when you start demonstrating success. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw

Growing up, I had a very normal relationship with my brother and sister. But, over time, they became my best friends, and now I hang out with them all the time. I’m very close with them. Logan Lerman

Maturity is a high price to pay for growing up. Tom Stoppard

My growing up years, we watched ‘Happy Days,’ every night. I don’t know what was reruns and what was new. Sarah Silverman

When growing up, I saw segregation. I saw racial discrimination. I saw those signs that said white men, colored men. White women, colored women. White waiting. And I didn’t like it. John Lewis

I had a lot of growing up to do. A lot of times, I learned the hard way. Allen Iverson

Happiness | Joy

“Hapiness is a choice, not an achievement. Nothing will make you happy until you decide to be happy” – Ralph Marston

Happy as defined by Google as a feeling or showing pleasure whereas, joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

It is easy to say that we are happy. It is what we feel when the environment or a situation requires us to feel that way. But when what is happening around us does not require us to be happy, can we be?

Happiness is a state of mind. Whatever we dictate to our minds is what we will feel.  I am not saying that our minds can really control how we feel.  But we can always find good things in every bad situation.  If you are in a situation where in everything seems not okay or you do not like the crowd you are in, you are tired with your job, an unexpected misunderstanding between your loved one, anything that will happen right after that is what you choose to happen.

Remember the 90-10 principle of Stephen Covey? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you, 90% of life is decided by how you react.

Joy however is more diverse version of happiness. It is when you find contentment and peace of mind. It is felt when you finally accept your life as it is. The bible would say that joy is when you have Faith. There are more to life than dwelling on what you cannot have. It is tiring. But when you have satisfaction, you will find the goodness in everything.

Why not try focusing on what you have.  Examine yourself. Improve your weakness. Determine your strengths and find ways on how to share your knowledge. Dream and come up with goals and match it to reality. Focus on the people around you who love you dearly and truly care for you. Do not exhaust your energy to those who do not like you. Restrain from gossips as this won’t do you any good. Finally, be a blessing to everybody.

Stop the Chase | Be Better

How many of us here like to be accompanied by friends or to be with friends? Okay, I can see most of you are raising your hands – and grinning. And others are staring blankly back at me. Okay, I got it. Why? Aren’t you happy spending time with your friends or special someone? Do you care about them? That is my question. I just remembered that Facebook post I saw two weeks ago that reads:

Your life will get better when you realize it’s better to be alone than chase people who don’t really care about you – WisdomLoveQuotes.

Why do you need to chase that person who doesn’t care about your feelings, thoughts or even your situation? Friends or people around you – those that you know and who know you of course – should show they care. How do you know? Cut the chase, you are not going to get something from people who are not really there to accept who you are.

I have seen one post from Library of Most Controversial Files that says:

Stop calling people who don’t call you. Stop visiting people who don’t know where you live. Stop making time for people who don’t have time for you. Stop spending on people who don’t spend on you. Stop thinking about people who don’t think about you.

And the list goes on…Obviously, I did not copy everything.

So why chase those people? Stop it and live a better life without them. It is a total waste of your precious time.

I am still waiting for those people I messaged on Facebook if I can use their comments about the first quote.

A Kind Heart

Find the seed at the bottom of your heart and bring forth a flower.
Shigenori Kameoka

Take care of your heart – if you have a healthy heart, you can use it to love people in your community. When I say healthy, I mean you have a good heart. Am I right? There is so much bad things going on in our communities. I know everyone has a seed at the bottom of our hearts – search for it – or use it to help the needy people or the least fortunate. You don’t need to give them the most extravagant help they need – a simple act will do.

“A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple…(it comes back to you)”

I have remembered the short story video about kindness where a stranger helped a grandmother to purchase the cake for her husband’s birthday. The grandmother can’t afford to spend more that she have. The man overheard them and bought the cake for them. He remembered when a man bought a cake for his birthday. When both of them were asked for their contact numbers so the receiver can pay them. The old man wrote, “A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple” which was emulated by the young man when he was asked.

And another story of how a man helped a young boy buy medicine for his sick mother. The boy grew up to be a doctor, when the man met an accident and was hospitalized, the doctor paid for his bill.

How amazing these people in their societies. I wish that you can meet more people like them. The world will be a better world with good Samaritans around.

When did you display kindness to the needy people around you? Or even those people who don’t really need a help but help them?

Friendship

“A strong friendship doesn’t need daily conversation, Doesn’t always need togetherness, as long as the relationship live in the heart, True friends will never part.”

A friend is someone you can trust with your innermost thoughts and feelings. Someone who would not think badly about anything you say. He can be your partner in crime but can be brutally frank about your stupidness. He is the one whom you can talk all day and night long without getting bored. But for me, this definition is still for young adults.
Overtime, when both of you get older; there are some factors that may trigger the relationship. You will eventually get married, become parents and have careers of you own. That is when more challenges come your way.
When you get too close to each other you cannot avoid being compared, your status in life, how much you earn, who has a better half, better parent and children. One will always be better than the other. Most often, you hear words like “You are lucky/luckier” from both of you. The conflict occurs when Mr. Envy comes your way. Especially when you have everything that your friend wanted.
You will come to a point where you will no longer be his shock absorber. He feels that you won’t understand because you are not in his situation. Because he sees that your life is perfect. Your opinion is not important anymore. He will now look for other friends who can relate to his problems, or a group who shares the same sentiments. You will no longer be included in the picture anymore.
A sad truth. It aggravates when you see him happy with his new found friends. Don’t be jealous. Be happy for him instead.
Now, my definition of a friend is someone who is waiting anytime for you. When all the lights fade, when everything else fails, a friend is always ready to embrace. He is that someone who will help you pick up the pieces of your broken self. After all, he’ll just smile and say “Come, let’s go home!”
