Krispy Kreme Troubles

“The University of North Carolina (UNC) is renaming its Raleigh-based children’s clinic the Krispy Kreme Challenge Children’s Specialty Clinic, the school has announced.
The Krispy Kreme Challenge is an annual charity event consisting of a 5-mile race, during which participants run 2.5 miles, eat a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts, and run back.
The organization promised to donate a total of $2 million to the outpatient clinic — nearly $1 million has been raised since the race’s inception as a charity event 9 years ago. The remaining $1 million will be raised by 2020, according to a recent clinic press release.” Full article here:

So apparently this is a thing. In case you don’t know krispy kream is a donut company. Their food is ridiculously unhealthy for you. It’s also ridiculously delicious. The good news is that they’ve raised quite alot of the years. The bad news is that not a dime came out of the companies pocket to actually start this. So free advertising. That and the fact that kids could start to associate literally one of the unhealthiest foods with a care center. It’s also a horrible damn fundraising event. As an American who could care less what he eats, I want to let you know that running on a full stomach full of sugar, starch and jelly is not at all fun. Then there is the issue of eating a case of these when after you run 2.5 miles. It would take alot more than that to burn off all the calories in those donuts, believe me. All those donuts weigh in at 2,600 calories. The fact that a highly unhealthy food is associated with a healthcare institution is highly ironic to me.

But I like krispy kreme donuts very much, I remember I was addicted to it although now I seldom got the chance to eat it.
