Prolific Academic Guide

Prolific Academic is a relatively new site I’ve started. But boy! It sure has become one my regular go to sites to earn some extra money on the side. As of the date on this post, I’ve made a little under $30 in a month. So far so good!

What is Prolific?

Well, quite simply, this site wants you fill out surveys that typically come from universities or organizations. You will be required to fill out a questionnaire to start so the site can see which studies you are eligible for. Sometimes there will be additional questions for you to answer located along the bottom of the “Studies” tab and in the “Account” tab.

How Everything Works

The site is easy to get started and you can jump right into taking surveys if you wish. Just a few notes to keep in mind though:

  1. This site only redeems your earned money to PayPal. The currency everything is in on site is in British Pounds (£), but PayPal will convert the amount to your default currency when the payment is sent.
  2. The minimum amount you can redeem is £5. Nothing less.
  3. The site tells you that you might want to wait until you save up to £20 if you want to avoid PayPal fees. However, I’ve been told these fee’s are pretty small so it’s up to you if you want to save or redeem them if you below this amount.
  4. Before you can redeem any money, head over to the “Trust” tab in the “Account” section. You will have to verify your email address and have a SMS verification code sent to you before you can cash out. If you don’t have a mobile phone, this might be an issue and I just wanted to warn you ahead of time. (They also have a FaceBook connect option, but that is optional and won’t grant you any incentive if you decide to do it.)

The surveys on site can net anywhere a wide variety of amounts depending on what the study is about and how long it will take you. The longer the survey typically nets you the most money, but I’d still take whatever they offer you. The site usually has 1 or 2 surveys you can take a day and they only have so many spots to fill. If you want the cash, make sure you get there quick!

Also, be prepared to wait a few days for the researchers to go over your answers. Under the “Manage Studies” tab in the “Account” section, there is a list of all the surveys you have taken. Most will be required to await a review which typically takes no longer than a week. At least for me so far. Some may take longer I’m sure, but I haven’t come across any so far that has taken that long yet.

The money that is part of the surveys in review will fall into the “Pending” section of your Account Balance just so you know how much you’re waiting on to clear. They will move into your “Balance” section as soon as they clear. You should also receive an email informing you when studies are done being in review.

Payment Proof

Well, that’s pretty much it for this site. I’d advise checking it a few times a day for new studies and take them as soon as they go up. They probably won’t be there for long if you wait in my experience.

Good luck earning and feel free to comment below if you have any questions regarding anything. I’ll try my best to answer anything. Thanks for looking!

My Guide to InstaGC

–Last Updated July 11, 2017–

Hey there! My first post is about a site that has helped me earn a little extra money on the side for holidays or general purchases. If you are looking for some extra cash to buy Christmas presents or save for a trip, this site can you help you immensely. I have been a member for about 3 years and have earned a few hundred dollars over the course of my time there. It’s easy and anyone can jump straight in! Without further ado, here is the guide.

What is InstaGC?

InstaGC is a site where you earn points by completing offers, surveys, watch videos, sign up for trials, etc. Every 100 points equals a $1 for reference. can be a little overwhelming at first glance. But with a little time, you can easily make between $4-5 a day with a little effort. I’ll list the easiest ways to earn points at the site as well as some general tips to keep in mind. Things that take a bit more time and effort will be listed toward the bottom of the list.

General Tips

-It is VERY important to use your real info. Using fake info can not only stop you from redeeming gift cards, but can also get you banned. If you don’t want to give out your home phone or address, then just avoid offers that ask for it. It’s better than risking all your earnings.

-Watch the offer ticker on the bottom right of the page. Those are offers members have recently completed and got credited points. Try doing some of those if your not sure where to start.

-Start with small goals. Try to form a routine for yourself first. You want to get into the rhythm of things and not overwhelm yourself. Do one wall a day to get a feel of the things offered to you. Then create a routine fit for you.

-Turn off any AdBlock you have installed. Most offer walls will not load if you don’t for one. And some offers won’t load if it’s turned on.

-Make sure you Flash/Java installed. Some offers, like videos, need it to load.

Surveys are honestly going to be your big money maker on the site. I found surveys make up half of what I earn compared to individual offers. Look into the higher paying surveys if you are new to get the most points.

Live Sample

The Live Sample surveys are by far the easiest to complete. You can take Live Sample I and II once every 24 hours and they will net you 210 points ($2.10).

Important: You can only complete 2 Live Sample surveys per day no matter which wall you complete them on. Doing them more than twice can result in points being taken away.

TIP: Sometimes LiveSample will ban your account if you use an email to sign up that is not the one associated with your IntsaGC account. I had this happen to me and realized what had happened after trying my regular email and got it working successfully. Not a huge issue to use your main email as they don’t send you spam or anything.

Your Surveys

These surveys are from the same provider who runs the surveys on AdWall. I find these pretty easy to complete, both on AdWall or the main InstaGC Wall. You can find these by sorting the InstaGC Wall to “Daily”.

InstaGC Surveys

Under the “Earn” Tab, instagc offers surveys on it’s own wall so to speak. After filling out a small questionnaire, you’ll get matched with a variety of surveys to complete. These all vary on the time it will take and how much it offers. The amounts tend to be smaller than the other walls, but they are pretty easy to qualify for than the other walls. At least in my experience.

You can also find the lower point “Tap Surveys” on the bottom of the list of surveys. They vary in length and time. I would go for the higher paying ones as the the times are not very accurate.

Finally, there is occasional “PollFish” surveys that pop up on the bottom of the list as well. They appear randomly and award you various amounts.

AdWall Surveys

These are new surveys I’ve recently tried out. They have some pretty hefty payouts. The highest I’ve seen was almost 400 points! That’s $4! It may take a little bit to get a survey you qualify for, but it’s worth the time since the payouts are pretty big.

InstaGC Wall: Your Thought Counts (Long), Your Survey (multiple available to complete if you qualify), Give Us Your Two Cents, and Samplicious are just a few other surveys you can also do on the main wall. Filter the search results to surveys o see all the options available.

Peanut Labs: Range from 10-200($0.10-2.00) points a piece. Is random for everyone.

Payment Wall: Range from 20-200 ($0.20-2.00) points a piece. Has new surveys to try every week or so.

Tap Surveys: These are now found on the main “InstaGC Wall”. The “InstaGC Wall” has it for 65 points ($0.65). The main wall has 5 different ones you can complete in a day, but I usually find I can only do maybe one or two a day.

TrialPay: This wall has several different versions of the “SaysSoForGood” surveys. They highest pays a little over $2 but can be very hard to get into. Try it out if you think you can qualify for one.

Email Submits and General Offers

TIP: Before completing any of these, I would make an email at outlook. They allow you to make up to 10 aliases per account and each alias counts as a different email. It’s important to use different emails after a few offers to ensure they credit the points.

Going to the main wall (InstaGC), you can sort the offer by Email and Submits-Email. These are usually the easiest offers to complete since they either require you to enter a valid email address and confirm the link they send you.

These offers can typically award you between 10-60 ($0.10-0.60) points.

However, there are 100 ($1.00) point email submits scattered throughout all the walls. These can be tough to credit though. I find that creating a brand new email, clearing my cache, then going back to the submit page works the best. But not everytime. It doesn’t hurt to try them out though. I’ve gotten quite a bit to credit in the past.

This info can also be applied to other offers that also ask for an email. The difference is that they ask for your name, address, email, etc. as well. Make sure you leave the offer open a few minutes after you complete any offer by the way. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the offer to process that it was completed correctly.

Down below I’ve provided a list of email providers you can create emails from. Just make sure you keep track of them for future offers. And make sure you can actually get into them. You might need to verify the email for an offer to credit.

Email Providers that Are Quick and Easy to Create:

Mail (requires no mobile verification)

VFEMail (requires no mobile verification)

Outlook (can have 10 different alias per account so you technically can create 11 different emails at once)

These types of offers only require you to click on the link leading to the site. Sort the InstaGC wall to CPC to see available ones and you will get 1 point from every one. These reset at midnight EST so it’s advised to do these around that time.

On the “Radium One” Wall, there’s also clicks that are very easy to get. You can potentially get up to 40-50 clicks in one day from those alone if you are lucky. If you don’t see any of the 1 point offers, I’d just refresh a few times until something pops up. if there iss till nothing, give it a few minutes and try again.

HyperMX, Volume11, Adbistro, Watch 15

This wall mostly requires you to watch short videos or to visit sites. It awards you 1 point for every site/video but they do run out pretty quick. The sites/videos reset at midnight EST so I would try to do them then. InstaGC also has videos located under the “Earn” tab to try out. These require you to watch 15 videos to earn 3 points.

I know it may not seem worth it to even do the 1 point offers, but they add up very quick! I usually get around 40-50 points (0.50 cents) a day from these alone.

AdWall EngageMe Videos

*You can have 2 windows/tabs running at the same time for these.*

Ok, these are something new I’ve tried out. Thee are located on AdWall and require you to watch videos. One video is 0.69 point (less than one point) and rewards you your points after every third video is watched. I’ve had some success with this one, just make sure you are aware that the videos should be opened in a new window versus a new tab. If it’s not opened in a new window, the video player will pause until you have it opened. At least for me. (I use FireFox so that might be the issue for that.) A new window will make sure the video plays, though, and you can keep it back behind the window you are using.

I do have some issues regarding this and others might too depending on their internet connection. My internet is a little slow and sometimes keeping more than one window of videos running will cause Adobe Flash to crash. So be prepared to have to refresh a few times if you have a very slow connection. It doesn’t happen that often for me, but I’ve made sure to keep checking on the windows every so often just in case. You might not even experience any issues at all! Give it a try and see what works for you regarding these.

CrowdFlower is a program that designs tasks for you to complete for a wide range of points. It will require you to make an account with them but it’s worth some time to try out.

Each task differs. Some require you to search for a specific phrase in google or bing and you need to fill out the questions it asks on each tasks. The 7-8 point tasks are the easiest to complete for quick points and add up over time.

There is an accuracy and level system on CrowdFlower as well. If your accuracy is high (Around 90% I believe) and you have completed over 100 tasks and jobs, you can level up to levels 1-3, which allow you to do tasks that will earn you higher point values. However, sometimes the level system can be a bit wonky and not reward you levels when you met the requirements. You might need to contact support if you want to get into it and have problems.

TIP: You MUST download a program called SandBoxie if you want to try any downloads so you don’t mess your computer up. This program isolates any downloads you put into it so it doesn’t stay on your computer and make permanent changes. You can discard anything in the SandBox after you complete downloads and earn points. The program will remove all traces of it.

The link above better outlines how SandBoxie works.

If you are wanting to try any downloads, I would advise only downloading things from the walls below. They are only ones I’ve had successful completions.

AdWork Media

Peanut Labs

Completing trials will require to submit either your Credit Card or Debit Card information. Most have trials that last anywhere between 7 days to a month. You do not have to purchase subscription (unless stated in the reqs) and will reward anywhere between 100-1,000 points. ($1.00-10.00)

It’s important to keep in mind that any points rewarded from trials will be ‘frozen’. This means they will be inside a blue square beside your current total of points for a period between 7-14 days. The points will be unfrozen after this time has passed and will be added to your total so you can spend them.

Referring someone to the site will reward you 10 points after they complete one offer. You will also earn 10% of the points they earn in each offer. The more active referrals you have, the more points you can earn in the long run.

Booster Codes: These codes appear randomly in the chat and require to enter a code in the code box. You have to be fast to earn a small sum of points.

Bonus: This one is really new! Right now you can earn bonus points by watching videos under the “Earn” tab and going to “Watch Videos”. You earn 1 bonus point after earning 10 points from watching videos. There are supposed to be more bonuses later, so stay tuned for more. To find the “Bonus” tab, hover over your account name and it should pop up in the drop down menu just below it.

Contests: There are different contests for things in the site. Being in the top 3-5 places will reward you a hefty amount of points. They are usually split into Daily, Weekly, and Monthly drawings.

Sweepstakes: This is a pretty new feature on the site. You can spend some points to enter a drawing to win large sum of points! They vary from 100 to 100,000 points. The bigger amount point pools require more points to earn than the smaller ones. If you have some extra points and would like to try your luck, feel free to browse around on what available. (I recently won a $50 Amazon GiftCard from one and it was awarded just as soon as the winner was announced. Got the code immediately in case you we’re wondering how long it takes to receive the prize.)

Search the Web: This is pretty self explanatory. You can set the Instagc as your default search engine. Then just search as you need to throughout the day. You have a chance to earn a small amount of points every time you search something.

Donate: This method used to be an option but it has sent been discontinued. You could donate to the list of charities they had available.

That basically covers the basics of the site. If you ever want to try some other offers, I would try out the walls I will list below in just a moment. I usually get the most points from them. I would always sort the walls by either Most Popular or the Newest. The offers in these categories will more than likely earn you points than older ones.

-Offer Toro

-Peanut Labs

-Payment Wall

-Trial Pay

-Radium One

TIP: Also, clear your cache and cookies before and after each offer you complete. This helps offers actually go through. Also make sure you enable 3rd party cookie tracking. Doing this will make sure offers can confirm you actually completed the requirements.

Redeeming Your Points

As of recently, Instagc has added more ways to redeem your points than just gift cards.

Direct Deposit: You can now add your points directly into your bank account. I would save all the points until the end of the month, then redeem them so you don’t have to pay a 15 point fee for another time. This process usually takes about 1-4 business days to go through.

-Checks: Same with Direct Deposit, you can send yourself a check with the money. Your first monthly check is free so I would, again, wait to redeem it so you don’t pay that 25 point fee. This usually takes between 5-10 business days to go through.

-PayPal: You can also now send money directly to your PayPal. The monthly fee applies to this as well, except for your first request. The first process to send money takes between 1-7 business days. After that, it’s added instantly. Unless it’s a request over $25. Then that will take an additional 1-2 business days to process.

TIP: Some gift card amounts are not instant. The bigger amounts, such as $250+, take a few days to process. This is only for a few of the cards though. Most are instant.

Payment Proof

If you are still having trouble with things, post a question in the chat to the left on the site. There are lots of helpful members and staff members who will be happy to assist you in anyway.

Hope this guide helped and I wish you good luck in your money earning activities!
