Square Enix published a new batch of screenshots and a video detailing the locations and landscapes for Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s Dragon Quest Heroes 2: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End, which brings additional information pertaining to places yet to be revealed. The devs also revealed a variety of shops and armor customization, and loads more. Dragon Quest Heroes 2 will be available for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.
The Dragon Quest series has branched far from its original take-turn roots some time ago, but at the same time managed to keep its theme and Dragon Ball-like character design. Although one of the spin-off games, Dragon Quest Builders, has more of a Minecraft on-take rather than the modern route the series has been going down with the Musou gameplay, it still holds to the world and lore of Dragon Quest.
With that said the latest game, Dragon Quest Heroes 2, provides the same free roaming Dynasty Warrior type battle mechanics, but with the familiar Dragon Quest RPG elements. Not only will exploring help with finding good loot, the screenshots by Gematsu reveal that the shops will help with armor and weapon customization as well.
The above image reveals the grass lands of Kretia in Rosa Woodlands, which holds a lot of poisonous mushrooms and shrubbery around and about the land. The image below reveals the harsh mountains of Amal Canyons. The high altitude and scaffolding can be very dangerous, as well as the sky dwelling monsters.
The next area holds dangerous patterns that lava flows through, enabling the land around to become overheated and into a wasteland of despair. The harsh location is settled in Monstrea in the Rao Wastland, containing poisonous swamps and giant crystals.
The last location, shown in the list of images or screenshots, show the deadly icy land of Regen in Ihrim Snowfield. As one would expect, the land is covered in snow and ice, with monsters reflecting the said location, as seen below.
Lastly there will be all of shops to pick from in Zebion Facilities. This includes the Orb Shop, the Alchemy Pot, and the Clearing House that lets folks buy and sell weapons. This is also joined by appraising unknown weapons, and changing the team’s outfit with other cosmetics that don’t affect weapon/armor stats. With that said, you can view the hour long video that Square Enix posted.
Dragon Quest Heroes 2: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End will be available for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita over in Japan on May 27th. As for a western release, one hasn’t been announced yet.
