Jason Voorhees from Illfonic Games’ upcoming take on the Friday the 13th property was the center focus on the latest two trailers for the upcoming game, Friday the 13th: The Game.
The iconic killer is featured in two different outfits in both trailers, one is his Friday the 13th: Part 3 getup and the other is his infamous zombie look from Friday the 13th: Part 7. You can check out both of the trailers below from PAX East, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting.
Both clips sadly only clock in at just under the minute. The first features Jason smashing in the head of a young female counselor, while the second clip features Jason busting through the door because he’s too badass to knock, wielding an axe and making his way over to the bed where one of the teens are hiding. He promptly raises the axe and brings it down like a falling knife through a ripe cantaloupe.
Both videos are based on alpha gameplay footage running in-engine. I’m still a little leery about how the overall feel of the matches will play out, but so far the game at least looks intriguing. I’m glad Illfonic put some time into the death sequences. Those are what’s going to make or break the appeal and immersion of the game.
The asymmetric multiplayer title is going to be set for release this October on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. So far we still haven’t seen any major gameplay sessions yet, just clips and snippets of what the developers have in store for the title. Hopefully we’ll get to see a proper gameplay trailer soon enough so we’ll at least have an idea of how a full multiplayer session will be.
I’m cautiously excited for what this Kickstarted project can bring to the table, but I’ll need to see more before chugging on the chain of the hype train.
