The Coalition has setup an alternative method for attaining a beta key for the closed beta for Gears of War 4‘s multiplayer test, which is due to go live on April 18th. The alternate method will enable players to get a free beta key without having previously purchased Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or PC.
According to a forum post from the community administrator over on the official Gears of War forum, Xbox One owners will be able to get in on the Gears of War 4 closed multiplayer beta test without having to purchase Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
The community manager, PezRadar, states…
“[…] we are planning on doing a livestream on Friday April 15th where we will be playing the beta with some special guests. We will also be giving away tons of keys during the stream and winners can start playing the beta THREE DAYS EARLY starting on April 15th at 3pm PT! You will also have additional opportunities to win keys throughout that weekend. We will have more information to share on the stream shortly so stay tuned!”
That’s right, after you get hold of the beta key you can then proceed to start playing in the closed beta that very same day; you won’t have to wait until April 18th like a lot of other jabronies. The keys will be handed out on the live-stream hosted by The Coalition on the safe-space enabled web service, Twitch.tv. You can check out the stream below to stay tuned in for when it goes live or you can check their Twitter account for more info on free keys being handed out.
Extra Life Stream
It’s a great way for gamers to get into the beta without having to go through the process of playing Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Anyone who did play the game on PC or the Xbox One before April 11th will be eligible to receive free closed beta keys, which will be handed out on April 18th up through April 21st.
The closed beta for the Gears of War 4 multiplayer will run from April 18th up until April 24th. Between April 25th and May 1st anyone signed up with Xbox Live Gold will then have access to the multiplayer beta.
Keep in mind that The Coalition has been warning players that this is a real beta, though, and not a fake promo beta that EA usually runs to promote and market their games. PezRadar explains…
“[…] this is a real beta and not a marketing beta for us. We need to test backend, gameplay and more within this beta. Due to this, we are planning on releasing early access codes out in waves to ensure we can have a stable backend for players during the early access period. “
Interestingly enough, they will also be handing out beta rewards for those who participate. I’m not sure what the rewards are but it’s noted that they will be handed out before the game officially launches this October on the Xbox One.
