The Coalition have announced the official release date for Gears of War 4 on the Xbox One. The game is set to arrive on October 11th, this fall for Microsoft’s big black box.
The news went out on the Xbox News Wire and on Major Nelson’s blog, where it was explained that the third-person shooter, starring JD Fenix, the son of Marcus Fenix, will go live later this year with a band of “new heroes”.
The posts also mention that the game will have a multiplayer beta that commences later this month on April 18th. Gamers who played Gears of War: The Ultimate Edition will be eligible for participating in the multiplayer beta later this month. It hasn’t received a whole lot of fanfare because so far the stuff they’ve showed for the upcoming game just looks a-okay and not really rocket-busting.
Oh, and the Gears of War: The Ultimate Edition eligibility also applies to those who played the busted up version on Windows 10.
I haven’t seen enough or heard enough about Gears of War 4 to get excited in anyway whatsoever. The only cool thing is the fact that you can face-kick someone while leaping over cover. This move will come in handy because having enemies opposite of your cover was a common thing in the previous Gears of War games, and it was annoying leaping over the cover just to completely get clobbered because you end up standing face to face with them instead of beating the snot out of their crooked nostrils.
For the most part, The Coalition will have an uphill battle trying to convince people who gave up on the series after Gears of War: Judgment to come back and give the series another go-around. I imagine fanboys will come out in droves for Gears of War 4, but the non-fanboys will be tougher to convince to get on board.
You can look for the game to go live this fall for the Xbox One.
