SNK Playmore producer Yasuyuki Oda, who is currently working on King of Fighters XIV, has hinted that gamers can look forward to a couple of surprises from SNK’s library of wealthy IP, including a re-release of Last Blade 2 on the PS4 and PS Vita and possibly a sequel to the Fatal Fury entry, Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
“And don’t forget Last Blade too. We’re going to be releasing details on Last Blade 2 on the PS4 and Vita soon, so please look forward.”
Last Blade 2 is one of the best sword-fighting games ever made. It’s extremely skill based and had a really neat counter-attack system in place to keep the fights moving at a very tactically fast pace. That’s not to mention that Last Blade 2 had a great soundtrack and some really top notch sprite work. It’s nice that the game is getting some love and will appear on the PS Vita and PS4.
This statement from Oda follows on comments he made about returning to the Fatal Fury franchise. The producer would like to make a sequel to the long forgotten Garou: Mark of the Wolves, which had a very open ending. A lot of gamers are still wondering when Rock will make his debut in the king of Fighters. I would love to see a Rock versus Kyo fight or a Rock versus K’ fight.
Anyway, regarding Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Oda stated…
“I think people here are thinking, ‘Hey what are you doing, aren’t you forgetting about Garou?‘” […] “I’m going to do something about it before I die (laughs), so please keep on supporting us.”
For now, gamers have King of Fighters XIV to look forward to. The game is due for release sometime this year for the PS4. If enough gamers support the release of the title we’ll potentially get to see a new sequel to Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
