Star Citizen Alpha 2.3 Launches With Starfarer Trailer

The Musashi Industrial starcraft, the Starfarer, was introduced in a trailer that offers a tour of the large corvette class carrier in light of alpha 2.3 going live.

The trailer is four minutes long but it certainly doesn’t feel that way. It moves quickly while showcasing a lot of the interior and details of the Starfarer. The ship contains a lot of detail, not unlike all the other ships in the game, and it appears as if there are a lot of operational modules scattered throughout the ship. You can see what it looks like with the video tour below, which is accompanied by some awesome music.

The alpha 2.3 comes with more than just the Starfarer appearing in the hangar. They also made the Xi’An Khartu-al scout ship available for play as well.

The scout ship is small, fast and has a unique design that’s definitely not like the other ships in the game. I suppose that’s a good thing as it helps separate the different classes and factions within the Star Citizen universe.

They didn’t just announce that the Khartu-al scout ship was made flyable in the latest PTU alpha build, they also released a short minute long teaser trailer featuring the ship in action, shooting down other ships and navigating through space. You can see what it looks like in action with the teaser below.

According to the RSI update post, they’ve also implemented the first iteration of the capital ship hangar. This is a great development because it means larger and more complex ships can be housed within the player’s personal hangar space.

According to the post the Starfarer is the largest ship in the game that can be boarded, at the moment. It’s hard to get a full scope of the size with the images in the trailer, but while it doesn’t look quite so large from the exterior, you get a completely different feeling of the scope of size when they do the flybys of the interior.

If you’ve backed the game under a certain amount you’ll be eligible to fly around, shoot things and participate in the basic quests made available in Star Citizen. For more information about the crowd-funded game, feel free to visit the official website.
