Leaked Nintendo NX Controller Images Are Fake
Nintendo NX Fake

A few hours ago a Reddit thread was made letting everyone sperging out on the social media service know that Nintendo’s official NX controllers are still good and well under wraps. It turns out that the images floating around of the Nintendo NX controllers and the supposed devkit design… are fake.

David, a French Photoshop artist, took everyone on the ruse cruise with his oval-shaped Nintendo NX controller designs that are supposedly button-free and touchscreen heavy. GamesRadar updated their original story linking to David’s YouTube video where he does a walkthrough of how the fake image was generated. The artist spares no expense to make fun of and troll everyone who sperged out across the internet after his images leaked. Check it out below from his ID 2Dev account.

The reality is that trolling has leveled up. Before it was “My uncle works for Nintendo”, now it’s a Photoshop image that literally looks real.

“But what about those images of the black oval controller?” you ask. Well, that’s actually a really good question. It turns out that others were wondering the exact same thing and they asked on the YouTube page if David made and leaked those as well. He responded saying that he did not leak those recent images of the black Nintendo NX oval controller, but it’s likely that whoever made those images used the 3D printer method of putting together a real life version of the fake devkit using a 3D printer, some plexiglass and possibly some retouching via Photoshop.

David, however, cannot confirm that the other images are entirely fake, but he believes whoever made those lifted the black designs from his DeviantArt page. You can check out what the black prototype of the fake Nintendo NX controller looks like below.

The major difference is that the home button on that other fake devkit had a square button, but otherwise it was almost identical to David’s design above, complete with the scroll-wheels on the top of the controller.

The French artist has a number of different prototype designs of the fake Nintendo NX controller, including some featuring The Legend of Zelda and a really cool ergonomic layout where the touchscreen imitates SNES-style buttons.

Most of the feedback on this particular design from the community was negative. So if Nintendo at least wanted to know what people thought about going the route of a touchscreen, they now know not to use an oval design without face buttons. I don’t know if people would prefer a square design without face buttons, or an oval design with face buttons —  but either way, the unholy combination of an oval touchscreen without face buttons had a lot of people saying “No, no, no!”.

However, I’m getting this itching feeling that maybe the real Nintendo NX controller may not be too far off from these fake devkit prototypes.

Every time new console is in development, some crappy cgi renders show up out of nowhere, always fake. I honestly don’t even think this is worth mentioning as news.

I think the reaction to this originally shows off more the belief that people are willing to believe the worst about Nintendo due to their recent track record of gimmicks.

I just hate touch screens in general. Always had trouble with them.
