Fugitive Games and Iceberg Interactive announced today that Into The Stars, labeled in most promo material as Oregon Trail in space, has officially launched on Steam.
The game has been in Early Access for a while, constantly evolving and iterating on various aspects until the developers were able to perfect Into The Stars into the kind of vision they had set out to achieve, and now that day has finally arrived.
Ben Jones, development director at Fugitive Games commented about the release of the game in the press release, stating…
“Into the Stars has used the Early Access process to the fullest, leveraging community feedback and numerous updates to fine tune the gameplay experience”
“With a massive, vibrant universe to explore, Into The Stars provides players with hours of discoverability. Each time someone plays, their strategy skills will be tested by facing incredible obstacles and unique situations from the surface of foreign planets to the hulls of derelict ships.”
There have been some complaints over the course of the game’s Early Access run about the lack of proper mission variety and things to do, but that’s one of the core things they changed for the official Steam release. They improved the combat, add shuttle missions to the line-up, added the ability to interact with trade ships at a distance, added more options for resource combinations, and added 25 new ship and 50 new planet exploration missions. You can get a small taste of the action with the launch trailer below.
Get ready for your journey Into the Stars as Captain of the Ark 13. Available now. The game also features ship customization, crew acquisition, diplomacy, strategy and ore scavenging.
Graphically the game looks pretty good and it most certainly has it’s own art-style and visual flair. The gameplay itself is closer to the likes of Star Trek rather than Star Wars, so if you prefer using a bit of strategy and wits about you, then you might enjoy Into The Stars.
You can pick up a digital copy of the game right now for only $17.99 from the Steam store.
