Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed’s Hack-And-Slash Sexiness Is A Winner With Steam Gamers

The titles on the Hyperdimension games are crazy long and that’s no different for the hack-and-slash title that just launched for PC gamers after originally being made available on the PS Vita a while back. The latest title to land on Steam from Idea Factory International is Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed and the game is receiving a lot of positive reviews for its sexy fan-service and competently designed hack-and-slash gameplay.

Deviating from the turn-based gameplay from the other entries in Idea Factory and Compile Heart’s Hyperdimension Neptunia games, this specific Action Unleashed from Tamsoft is closer to the likes of Senran Kagura titles that focus more on hack-and-slash style gameplay with fast-paced combos, special moves and lots of mobs to take down.

The story for the game is completely over the top, featuring a dig on games journalism and MMOs, with the Steam store description stating…

“The world of Gamindustri is experiencing a strange calm – the Goddesses protecting each nation are all at peace, and there’s not an apocalyptic threat in sight! In order to shake things up with a good story, the world’s leading journalists Dengekiko and Famitsu challenge the CPUs and CPU Candidates to complete a series of missions but soon they all may be in for a far bigger scoop in this action-packed hack ‘n’ slash!”

You can check out the gameplay trailer for the title below to see how the combo mechanics and hack-and-slash specials play out.

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed has managed to find itself a strong little following right out of the gate on Steam. Only a day into launching and the title has already managed over a 150 positive reviews right off the bat.

A lot of gamers absolutely love the hack-and-slash gameplay and the clothes-breaking mechanic where the girls taking too much damage sees their outfits getting ripped to shreds. Losing your clothes in the game dampens your defenses but raises your critical attacks.

The most exciting part about this PS Vita port on PC, though, is the fact that Tamsoft, Idea Factory and Compile Heart took time to ensure that the game runs at a full 1080p and 60 frames per second. None of that janky stuff you get from some Bandai or Koei games… Idea Factory made sure they put both hands on the stick and guided the game through the hole of porting success.

You can grab a digital copy of Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed right now from the Steam store for $29.99, and as an added benefit it’s 40% off for the first week of its launch so you can get it for only $17.99. For additional info feel free to visit the official website.

  1. I never bothered with Neptunia because of its turn based gameplay. Didn’t know there was a hack and slash version. Must check it out. That video doesn’t show anything though. Trailers sure are annoying.

    1. Well, I went to their site and looked at the gameplay footage. It’s the same kind of PS-Vita-ish doujin-ish quality that GUST’s games have. Senran Kagura has a similar problem. I wish they would all add decent light/shadow, or at least have better environments.
