Koei Tecmo’s Arslan: The Warriors of Legend has managed to find itself a sizable audience after releasing on the PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game is a standard thousand-army Musuo game where players will take on the role of Arslan and the other warriors of legend while battling against the forces of evil.
For gamers who like Dynasty Warriors games or Samurai Warriors titles from Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, you’ll likely find yourself enjoying the gameplay of the hack-and-slash Musuo title from Koei Tecmo.
YouTuber Red’s 3rd Dimension Gaming offers up a 20 video gameplay walkthrough of the hack-and-slash title, covering the game’s story mode from start to finish. You can check out the video walkthrough below.
This is from my Walkthrough series for Arslan: The Warriors of Legend on PS4. I hope you enjoy. Don’t forget to thumbs up, comment and subscribe.
The first hour of the game is mostly just setting up the story with Arslan and his younger years before he becomes king. The game’s early parts of the story mode covers Arslan meeting with some of the key players and establishing the game’s combat and gameplay.
Things don’t really pick up with actual gameplay until nearly an hour into the game. It’s a lot more tempered in its pace than say Dynasty Warriors, which usually gets right to the butt kicking early on.
The game also contains very long-winded dialogue sequences, so if you go in expecting another Samurai Warriors title where you kick butt, take names and fight incessantly in one big battle after the next, think again. A large portion of the story mode is just that… story. In this regard it’s a lot closer to a visual novel than a typical thousand-army Musuo title.
The attacks in Arslan are a lot more limited than the standard Dynasty Warriors game and there are fewer characters to play and fewer options available. Nevertheless, the game seems to pride itself well on telling a complex political-war story centered around a very deep catalog of characters.
If you like your Dynasty Warriors games that are extremely heavy on characterization and story, as well as political intrigue and lots of back-stabbings and war, then you might like Arslan: The Warriors of Legend. If you aren’t heavy into visual novels and you prefer your Musuo games with a deep set of gameplay mechanics and a varied combat system with lots of combos and special moves, you probably aren’t going to take much a liking to the game.
Arslan: The Warriors of Legend is available right now on the Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC.
