505 Games and Team Gotham have a new horror exploration game in the works called The Guest. It sees players attempting to discover the mystery behind a captor who has locked the main character in a room and only clues and some keen puzzle solving skills can get unlock the mystery behind the guest.
The game is about solving riddles and puzzles in the strange building set within the era of the 1980s. As mentioned in the press release…
“The Guest begins when you check in to the rundown Oakwood hotel as Dr. Evgueni Leonov, an old Russian scientist who plans on making the Oakwood his new residence for a few days. However, things are not as they seem when Dr. Leonov discovers that he is being held captive in his room. His only escape is to solve riddles and work through complex puzzles in order to discover the identity of his captor and their motives.”
There’s a teaser trailer for the game that doesn’t show off much but it does give a small hint at what gamers will find themselves getting into when March 10th approaches.
The Guest comes to Steam on March 10th! Things are not as they seem when Dr. Leonov discovers that he is being held captive in his hotel room. His only escape is to solve riddles and work through complex puzzles in order to discover the identity of his captor and their motives.
The trailer did little to inspire interest from me in the game, but the screenshots they released separate from the trailer actually show a little bit of the puzzles and a few other locations within the building that players will explore.
There’s a slight 7th Guest vibe emanating from the atmosphere and design, but according to the press release the game will have multi-faceted gameplay elements when it comes to adventuring and puzzle solving.
I haven’t seen enough of the game to warrant any definitive opinions about it but if you’re in the mood for something slow, methodical and mysterious, you can keep an eye on The Guest when it launches on Steam starting March 10th for $9.99. For more info you can head to the official website.
