Announced for release at the end of 2016, Focus Home Interactive and Giants Software have announced that Farming Simulator 17 will release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 for a first ever simultaneous release.
Previously, the other Farming Simulator titles always had scattered releases throughout the year for PC and home consoles, or worst yet there was like an entire year delay between the PC version and the home console version. Well, Focus Home Interactive is getting on the ball this time and they want to make sure that given that this is 2016, they should be able to release a farming sim simultaneously across all three major platforms.
Thomas Frey, the VP of Giants Software commented in the press release about the announcement, saying…
“It’s been a pleasure working with Focus throughout all these years. This partnership is the water on the seed that made Farming Simulator grow into the global phenomenon it is today. Each time we release a new version together we reach more people, and we look forward to expanding this reach even further in the coming years.”
Ever since that viral video of Farming Simulator went live back in 2013 the game has become an unstoppable phenomenon. For those of you who don’t remember it, it was this video here from SsethTzeentach.
Ahmedinejad so kawaii~
The reception has been more than welcoming amongst gamers and that video up there has already garnered more than 3.7 million views. The global reach is just astounding. Nevertheless, the Farming Simulator franchise has just steadily climbed ever since, even managing to outsell some AAA titles within certain regions at launch, such as Medal of Honor: Warfighter, as reported by Gather Your Party. Some people didn’t want to kill… they wanted to crop.
Cédric Lagarrigue, the president of Focus Home Interactive, is just happy that gamers love Farming Simulator and that the strong presence of simulation fans has managed to keep the series going for so many years, stating in the press release…
“Farming Simulator is a one of a kind story in the video game industry. Years ago, we imagined a unique destiny for this game and Giants Software, their creators. It is with great satisfaction that we succeed in reaching all of our objectives. There are still a lot of beautiful pages to write for Farming Simulator, and it starts right now with the simultaneous release of the game on PC and consoles at the end of the year.”
They didn’t drop any trailers but I imagine that’s coming soon.
