Koei Tecmo is probably giggling like little school girls right now from all of the hate-bait that spawns every time someone mentions that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 isn’t coming to the West, and then a new trailer like the one featuring Helena drops and noses start bleeding all over the place. Koei’s whole marketing campaign has, in fact, turned into a tantalizing game as the company attempts to avoid all the SJWs in Western media while at the same time inviting Western gamers to get a taste of the forbidden fruits of Japanese gaming.
Just to show you how far Koei has gone in luring in both the expected and unexpected gamer, they’ve opened up the comment sections on the Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 videos on their official Japanese YouTube channel. That’s a true rarity indeed, especially considering that most times the comments and rating systems are closed down on YouTube videos. And who are the majority commenting on Koei’s latest video? Mostly Westerners.
However, with the new Helena trailer, there was plenty to comment about and lots for viewers to discuss… especially after seeing how dedicated Koei has been in showing off the characters’ assets. With all of that said, you can check out Helena’s video below.
That song is infectious!
Whoever put together Helena’s trailer really knocked it out of the park, from the reggae tune, to the distant shot of her in the thong, to the ending sequence where she’s in the bedroom – it’s like Koei has turned this game’s marketing into a finger that’s beckoning gamers to come close and completely blow the wad… in their wallet, on a Play-Asia import.
Unfortunately, though, the game won’t be coming Stateside. If this were the 1990s or early aughts you could have expected media to play along with the lighthearted marketing and zealously over-the-top fan-service. But in today’s climate games like Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 are derided as “sexist” and “misogynistic” so Koei decided to cut their losses when it comes to a media smear campaign and just keep the balls in their court.
Anyway, you can look for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 to go live on March 24th, 2016 for the PS4 and PS Vita. You can pick up a copy of the game via import courtesy of Play-Asia.com.
