Adr1ft Accolades Trailer Preps For March Release

ThreeOneZero and 505 Games have been itching closer to the March 28th release for Adr1ft with new trailers and promo pieces, the latest of which is a compilation of accolades from many of the usual suspects: Polygon, Yahoo! Games, Kotaku and the likes.

The trailer itself is really well put together, though. It blends the praise from the big name outlets with the visually spectacular exploration and graphical immersion that the developers are gunning for with their new title. GamesPrey caught wind of the new trailer featuring the classic “Clair de Lune” in glorious 1080p at 60fps, and you can see it in action for yourself below.

The game is powered by the Unreal Engine 4 and sees players attempting to navigate through a space station that gets completely obliterated in a freak accident. The station is ripped to pieces, with large chunks of it floating adrift from the main hub. Players will have to navigate through the sections of the station as they attempt to find oxygen to stay alive, while also dealing with an oxygen leak in their suit.

The battle to find O2 while also attempting to scavenge through the ruins is a challenge that players will have to face down with patience, curiosity and quick wits.

The game isn’t just about the tension of survival, though. As depicted in the trailer above, a lot of the gameplay centers around devouring some beautifully crafted designs and expertly modeled segments showcasing some next-level physics on display for the VR-ready game.

A lot of games like Adr1ft are going to have their popular rendered reliant on the adoption rates of VR headsets like the Oculus Rift, because a large segment of the appeal is in the immersion that the game aims to bring to life through the first-person experience. With the Rift due for launch this spring and with a bevy of games already out and and about with VR support, I’m going to be curious to see what the sales look like for a game like Adr1ft both as a vanilla game for regular PC users and for those who decide to go out and purchase the Rift.

  1. Isn’t this the game Adam Orth is making to tell the world how sorry he felt for himself back when he was wanking off the Xbox One DRM policy and had to quit?
