A skiing game… yes, a real life skiing game. It’s here! It seems like extreme sports titles have practically faded away but we’re seeing that come to an end thanks to efforts from independent developers like Poppermost Productions.
The company announced that the free-to-play, online skiing game SNOW, is available to play right now on Steam since it’s just entered open beta testing.
They announced that the game multiplayer title allows you complete freedom and customization of how you conquer the mountains that kiss the sky, and ride the slopes that overlooks civilization below…
“SNOW is the only free-to-play, open world, winter sports game. Explore a massive mountain, customize your character with clothing and equipment from the biggest brands, and compete in events to be the best. Or head online and explore the mountain together with other players!”
They dropped a new trailer for the game entering open beta on Steam, and I must say that the graphics look great. You can check it out below.
SNOW has entered a free-to-play Open Beta on PC. Now you can experience the mountain entirely for free! Play it here: store.steampowered.com/app/244930 SNOW is the only free-to-play, open world, winter sports game. Explore a massive mountain, customize your character with clothing and equipment from the biggest brands, and compete in a series of events to be the best.
Sounds like narration from Sam Elliot at the beginning there. And if it looks a lot better than you were expecting that’s because it has some hefty system requirements, such as requiring 8GB RAM. So your old laptop may not suffice. The minimum requirements suggest a 4xx or higher GTX GPU but the recommended settings are MIA. The 4xx requirement is listed as an estimated baseline, so you’ll likely need a 6xx or 7xx for the recommended specs.
The funny part about that trailer, though, is that despite it being so well put together and having some great visuals on display, a bunch of people in the comment section are asking “Where’s snowboarding?” Apparently the developers promised snowboarding back when it was in development off of Steam and have yet to deliver.
The Steam store page states that snowboarding is inbound, along with snowmobiles and a course creation toolkit.
The game boasts realistic physics and more than 700 different customization items to outfit your skier with. You can learn more about this VR-ready skiing game by paying a visit to the Steam store page.
