Ahead of the release of the official modkit for Fallout 4, modders are continually iterating and improving on the mods for Fallout 4. A few popular mods for Bethesda’s game have been updated to include more HD overhauls and better optimization.
Nexus Mod user Hein84 has replaced most of the ground textures in a Vivid Fallout mod that adds HD 4K textures to Fallout 4. According to Hein84…
“This is an overhaul of original landscape textures and some new ones, I’m going to add more over time. Alternative archives in 2k(HD) and 1k for weeker systems are provided as well.”
You can grab the landscape textures in HD over on the Nexus Mods website. The mod is approximately 200MB in size.
There’s another cool mod that was recently updated from modder DDProductions83 that allows players to craft glass structures in Fallout 4, named after The Sims expansions. It’s called Craftable Glass Stuffs.
The most recent update was showcased in a video that you can check out below, which gives gamers a tour of glass structures.
Just showing off the rails and staircases and clear floors 🙂 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7790/?
There are glass ramps, glass balconies, glass railings, glass stairs, and more. Originally DDProductions83 thought about making breakable glass walls but then decided against it after realizing how much work it would be.
Additionally he has craftable wall dividers, and craftable elevators and bridges. But if all you want are shiny glass things to make your wasteland abode to look fancy and contemporary then you can grab the Craftable Glass Stuffs mod from over on the Nexus Mods page.
And speaking of contemporary designs… there’s a really cool mod from user NovaCoru that gives Fallout 4 some of that airy, homey feeling oftentimes found in The Sims.
According to NovaCoru…
“Homemaker is a mod that greatly expands on the vanilla crafting system for settlements, and adds over 800 new, fully-balanced objects to craft, ranging from cars, to refrigerators to working street lights and everywhere in between! The mod also features a new Institute build set, with placeable snapping walls, floors, stairways and more!”
The Homemaker mod is actually compatible with DD3Productions Craftable Glass Stuffs mod, so you can deck out your home with some brand new objects and some fancy new glass materials.
The mod adds five brand new building sets and has been updated to include new variations for the sets. This includes brick buildings, pier shacks, greenhouses, bunkers and warehouses. New prefabricated buildings have been added to the game, from covenant houses to lighthouses, as well as all new decorative objects and entities. The mod is very expansive.
There is a warning that any other mods that deeply affect or alter the crafting system will be incompatible with the Homemaker mod. There is a workaround for this and there are some troubleshooting tips on getting around those limitations on the mod page. So with all that said… you can download the Homemaker: Expanded Settlements mod for Fallout 4 by hitting up the Nexus Mods page. Surprisingly the mod is only 12MB, so it’s a lot smaller and more compact than you were probably expecting. Well, it’s definitely a lot smaller than I was expecting.
