In the mood for some wild west-style PvP action? Well Switchblade Monkeys’ Secret Ponchos: Most Wanted Edition is currently available on Steam for $14.99.
After having originally launched for the PS4, Switchblade decided to take the isometric PvP shooter to Steam but they didn’t want to do a straight-through port. Instead the developers took their title to Early Access where they refined the gameplay, added a handful of new playable characters, included more levels and improved the game’s balance.
You can check out the launch trailer for the Most Wanted Edition below.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/265750/ Do you have the grit to survive a new style of PvP combat – where every shot is a skill shot? A highly competitive and stylized PvP game set in the Wild West, Secret Ponchos showcased at EVO 2015 and brings a new take to fighting game genres.
The style of that trailer reminded me of the designs and stylistic animations from the Gorillaz music videos.
The game features 10 different combatants, each with their own combat styles, skills and weapons. What’s more is that each of the fighters have their own animation sets, so no one plays exactly like the other character… or at least, that’s how it works in theory.
Switchblade Monkeys’ creative director Yousuf Mapara commented about the game and the recent release, stating…
“We never imagined our game would reach this many people – we’re a studio founded by artists and musicians, working out of our kitchens and our bedrooms on the ultimate six-year passion project,”
“But with the help of countless hours of playtesting by our amazing community, we’ve managed to build something entirely unique, a game with both brains and brawn: mechanically precise, meticulously balanced, lovingly hand-drawn, savagely competitive, and (we think!) incredibly fun.”
The game definitely has a stylistic edge that sets it apart from other games out there. I kind of wish it wasn’t just a competitive multiplayer game, though. Maybe someone will mod in a single-player mode at some point down the line.
If you like what the game features you can check out the Steam store page. Weirdly it still shows that it’s in Early Access but according to the devs, the press release and the launch trailer the game is done and finished. Maybe the page hasn’t been updated yet? Anyway, the game is available for $14.99.
