Blind Edge Seeks To Combine Hack-And-Slash Combat With Sci-Fi RPG Elements
Blind Edge

Babel Games recently launched their indie title Blind Edge on IndieGoGo. The game is seeking only $6,000 on the crowd-funding platform, but it’s a fairly ambitious title that combines fast-paced, side-scrolling hack-and-slash combat with some sci-fi RPG elements such as advancing your character in three different class categories and utilizing gadgets, brute strength or technical savvy to overcome enemies.

I was pleasantly surprised with the game after seeing the 30 pitch video, which managed to at least convince me that this could be a game that could turn into something worthwhile with the right amount of dedication and funding. You can see the gameplay video below.

The plot of the game centers around players donning the role of a protector of a group of science officers tasked with researching alien creatures attacking a space station. This basically means that your character is a righteous badass with all sorts of cool abilities to to hack, slash, dash and mop the floor with just about anything that gets in your way.

As mentioned on the IndieGoGo page…

“Blind Edge is the combination of two genres of videogames: the fast and full of action Hack and Slash with the modifications and development of characters of the RPG genre. Created in a graphic environment of 2D videogame platform, that will remind us of old classics games such as Castlevania, Megaman and Metroid.”

You can grow the character as a Striker, Juggernaut or Engineer, each one offering different kinds of play-styles for players who like a bit of spice and variety when they play.

Additionally, the team has plans on opening up the character customization even further with a few of the stretch goals. Some of the basic stretch goals includes fleshing out the game’s story with more cinematics and grounded dialog to give gamers more context and backstory to what’s happening within the world of Blind Edge.

They also have a stretch goal to allow players to further customize the character into something more to their liking. Given how small the sprites are I don’t see how important that would be, but if the PC version of the game is more zoomed in then I suppose the character customization could be pretty cool.

You can snag a listen to some of the game’s work-in-progress soundtrack courtesy of the Blind Edge Soundcloud page. Check it out below.

Babel Games has plans to release the game for Android devices and PC. The game reminds me a lot of Vector and Hyper Light Drifter fused together.

If you think that Blind Edge is a game that deserves to become a reality feel free to check out the game’s IndieGoGo page.
