If you already purchased Wasteland 2 or you were a Kickstarter backer, you’ll be able to receive a free upgrade of Wasteland 2 to the Game of the Year edition. InXile Entertainment sent the news out fast and loose across the press wire and this is definitely good news for anyone who originally backed the game.
The CEO of inXile Entertainment, Brian Fargo, commented about the GOTY edition, saying…
“We wanted to re-affirm our gratitude to our backers and our dedication to RPG fans, as we have been most fortunate to return to our roots,” … “We plan to continue our proud tradition with Bard’s Tale IV, which we’ll crowdfund later this year.”
This is good news for fans of inXile Entertainment because they’re really in for a treat from the company, receiving an upgrade to the original with extra features, new enhancements and even more perks and “quirks”. There’s an all new precision strike system, and the combat encounters have been reworked in the game.
The GOTY edition also has new lines of dialogue, makes use of the Unity 5 game engine for physically based lighting systems, which means better shadows, better dynamic real-time light transitions and improved character rendering.
If you already own Wasteland 2 the update for the GOTY edition will come as a free update. And who doesn’t like a free update? Well, maybe the people who blame Obama for everything. So, yeah, thanks Obama!
But for everyone else who loves free stuff you can definitely get your fill of the new content when the GOTY edition goes live this summer for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms, that includes SteamOS support. The game is also scheduled to arrive for the PS4 later this year as well.
