Nintendo has been issuing the DLC codes for the Mewtwo character add-on for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. The codes, going out early for registered owners of the game, have already found their way onto the middle-man auction markets of eBay, selling for up to $699.99.
Personwest, a Canadian eBay seller, has their Mewtwo DLC code up and available for $49.99 as a starting bid. However, you can skip through the bidding process and take home the code for only $699.99 under the Buy It Now tab.

As mentioned on the seller page on eBay…
“Mewtwo will be released to those who registered both editions (3DS and Wii U) of the fourth Smash Bros installment on APRIL 9, and to those who don’t have both, you’ll have to wait until June. It works with two DLC codes, one for each platform.”
Actually the DLC will be available for everyone April 28th, not June.
So far a lot of the high-end listings for the DLC are barely being viewed, much less bidded on by people with an ounce of common sense. While the DLC is definitely going to be a must-have for some gamers, it’s unlikely anyone will actually go out of their way to pay $700 for a digital code for a character that will be available at a much cheaper price on April 28th.
That’s not to say that people aren’t in a frenzy over the new content… because some people are.
YouTuber shofu has an extremely over-the-top For Glory! video for Mewtwo from start to finish that you can check out below. It’s the sort of video that will either get you amped for the DLC or make you shut the sound off.
The Mewtwo character DLC will be available for $5, but if you want him in the bundle pack with the costumes you’ll have to pay out just a bit more, as noted on Nintendo Life.
If you already registered for the 3DS and Wii U version of Super Smash Bros and need a few details on retrieving the codes, you can learn more at Nintendo’s official website. If you have a code and want to cash them in, it’s best to do it before time runs out because the codes are only good up until September 30th.
