OpenIV 2.5 Mod Tools Released For GTA 5
GTA 5 OpenIV Mod Tools

The RAGE Team has brought gamers the latest release of OpenIV 2.5 for Grand Theft Auto V on PC. The newest version of OpenIV enables modders, tinkerers, designers, artists and enthusiasts alike to open up GTA V and look into the guts and digital viscera that makes up for the composition of Rockstar’s highly lauded open-world action game.

Over on the GTA Forums, GooD-NTS posted up the latest update for the new tools, giving gamers a glimpse of the modding possibilities to come.

You can check out the latest video trailer for the update below.

Now while you’re probably terribly excited about the news, it’s time to drop some truth bombs on you. As noted by GooD-NTS on the forums…

“Currently you can only view files, edit features are not available now. You can open archives and textures, the other resources will come later. The audio playback is also not available now. Please keep in mind it is just a beginning.”

As the embedded video shows above, you can look at and view the assets. However, the team still has to fix up the ability to re-encrypt the files and get them working again after they’ve been split open like an open-heart patient during surgery. This is still a pretty big step up from the early scares when modders found out that the game’s files were encrypted and required a key to unlock. However, the good folks on the GTA Forums pulled through quicker than Rockstar was probably anticipating.

In addition to adding support for GTA V, GooD-NTS also dropped some additional fixes into the modding tools, improving support for the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine x64 resources, as well as the support for RPF7 PC archives. They’ve also implemented new encryption algorithms for GTA V to read the files and hopefully reverse engineer a way to modify them so modders can start adding in new content into the game.

For now, PC gamers have found themselves settling with cheat trainers; but the Glorious PC Master Race aren’t going to suffice with just health, money and armor cheats… they want the whole shebang, and GooD-NTS and crew are getting ready to deliver it.

You can download OpenIV 2.5 with GTA V support by heading on over to the official website.

Since I will be rejoining the PC Master RACE (PCMR really close to a bad old one the PMRC)…

I want SuperHero mods for this game. Replace EVERYBODY. Big Bads have taken over so the Police become Hydra Agents. Level a couple blocks and put tunnels with Mole Men. All the Boss types in the game should be major SuperVillians of course. But fill the world with everybody. Leave a few normal people of course but not many.

Adapt weapons and gear to make different SuperHeros for the player.

Just putting the ideas out there.

      Welcome back!

I adore my PS4 in some ways. But the annoyance factor has maxed out for me. I make choices in the settings but since they are not the ones that Sony wants me to make I have to constantly answer the same damn questions.

“NO I don’t want his BR to access the internet.” Every fucking time I play a disc despite having set that in the preferences.

The trend of attempting to force people to set things as Sony wishes just sickens me. So PS5 seems highly unlikely for me.

      • I just wish we could get back to a time where consoles were consoles. I enjoyed that time.

If I want a console to be a personal assistant and a multi-media content player I’ll just get a Steam Machine.

Exactly. Same goes for various tools.
I remember when stuff used to be amazing for its primary purpose, instead of trying to be an unstable resource-hogging generic sub-standard all-in-one bloated clusterf**k.

Yeah it would be nice to go back to those days. Unlikely but you never know. Maybe we will.

It is just all about making money which is what business exist to do I understand that. But at the same time it is hard not to be bitter about it. My first video game was Pong (I was very young but I still remember how much fun my whole family had with that simple little machine) and I have supported and contributed to Games my whole life. Now I no longer matter. Every trend in gaming leads it farther and farther away not simply from things I like but to things I simply cannot stand.

I am just not the sort to give in. Yes it annoys the fuck out of me that I have to keep answering that question about BluRays. But I will throw the damn machine out the window before I change that setting. If the price is being annoyed at the repeated question than so be it.

Thank you. I am looking forward to getting back into PC gaming. Been away for a while.
