The upcoming competitive multiplayer game from PixelMetal called Sombrero has recently received some new screenshots. They feature a few of the game’s dark environments where multiple players will be looting, killing and scavenging for treasure.
Sombrero is a competitive game designed to be a little like Super Smash Bros meets Diamond Dash meets Bleed, all thrown together into a multiplayer mash-up. It’s a fast-paced title to help bring back that local flavor of fun and frenetic action. You can check out the new screenshots for the game below, featuring Clampett’s Hideaway and the Jones Hill Cemetery.
The game has clean sprite designs and uses a single-screen setup for the arena battles. Players will hop around, shooting their guns, blasting dynamite and attempting to stay alive until time runs out. In the loot capture mode the objective is to stock up on more gold than your opponents. You’ll have to move around the arena fast and furiously like you just tried some of that liquid hot barbecue sauce from Chipotle and need to race to the restroom. You can see how the loot mode plays out in the demo video below from an older build of the game.
The other multiplayer modes include a classic deathmatch where whoever has the most kills wins the round, and a capture the flag mode where the person holding the flag for the most time during a match walks away as the victor.
This game reminds me of the old-school PC titles from back in the day where the aim was to have fun with a few friends without getting bogged down in complex UI setups or having to log into various online accounts just to have a bit of fun.
You can learn more about the indie title from PixelMetal by paying a kind visit to the game’s official website. I’ll keep you posted on when the game finally launches.
