Milestone s.r.l., released some new footage of Ride, their upcoming racing title that they’re self-publishing for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. Yeah, every game system but the poor ‘ole Wii U. No love for the Big ‘N’. Anyway, the new trailer for the game features the Ducati on Imola’s “Enzo & Dino Ferrari” International Racetrack.
The video is short and to the point, clocking in at just barely a minute and featuring some of the smooth turns and wide corners from the Italian raceway. You can check it out below.
I’ve got to be honest: this game always looked like a poor man’s MotoGP to me. However, given that MotoGP hasn’t been the same since THQ died I’m willing to give Milestone s.r.l., the benefit in this case to revive the flailing motorcycle racing simulation sub-genre with Ride.
If the gameplay is solid and the physics are airtight, I don’t think there’s too much worth complaining about. In fact, we get to see some of the more road-based physics on display with the Aprilia RSV4 R ABS taking on the long winding roads of a Sierra Nevada track. You can check it out in the video below.
I have to admit, the Nevada track makes the game look a lot more interesting than the Imola track. I suppose that’s because Nevada is very scenic with the Hoover Dam in the background and a wide sweeping vista of the mountainous desert valley perched on the horizon. The above trailer makes the game look really good.
Of course, it’s best to temper expectations; and if I were a betting man I would be willing to be bet that this is going to be a 100% okay game aimed at the enthusiast crowd craving for something decent out of the racing genre. Of course, if Milestone s.r.l., proves me wrong and makes a 100% great game then it’s all for the better.
You can look for Ride to launch for home consoles and PC at participating retailers and digital distributors come March 20th. Need to learn more about the game? Feel free to hit up the official Ride video game website.
