PS Vita owners (yeah they still exist) and PS4 gamers are about to receive a new game from Red Phantom Games called Minutes. The game is a top-down action-puzzle title that sees players having to utilize quick-wits and fast thinking as they dodge, contract, expand and envelop to score points, stay alive and win the game.
A new trailer was released for the game and The Vita Lounge spotted it. The trailer is only a minute long (convenient for the namesake) and gives gamers a pretty thorough idea of what to expect from the action-puzzler.
You can see the game in action with the video below.
Minutes is now available on the European PlayStation Store for Cross-Buy on PS4/PS Vita. U.S. release date TBC.
I don’t think this is really my kind of game, but I can easily see something like Minutes becoming a highly addictive game for people looking for something a bit more substantial from a casual puzzler.
It’s really weird that the game is considered a bullet-hell game when there’s no actual shooting taking place. I mean, I always thought bullet-hell arcade games were all about computer-controlled A.I., shooting incessant amounts of pixel/particles at the player while the player-controlled vehicle/entity has to move around the environment to avoid getting ripped to shreds. In this case, players are a circular entity that can retract and expand its size. The object is to capture various objects while avoiding obstacles.
Even though the premise sounds simple as you can see in the video above it’s not quite as straightforward as you might have been expecting.
Red Phantom Games’ seems to be on a interesting path to take some of the fast-reflexes from bullet-hell arcade games but with the critical thinking from momentum-based puzzle games.
You can look for Minutes to launch on the first week of November in Europe, followed by the North American release to follow. Need more info? Feel free to visit the official website.
