Radial-G, Wipeout-Inspired Racer Gets Greenlit For Steam

One of the few games that really deserved to get Kickstarted but didn’t is Tammeka Games’ Radial-G: Racing Revolved. The title is a play on the fact that tracks in the game are built around cylindrical principles, so players will race around the tracks in completely different ways than is standard in most games. Well, this little gem has been selected by Valve as part of the batch of games being greenlit for September.

VRFocus tossed up an article highlighting the fact that Radial-G has had the green button pressed in its favor to appear on Steam’s store.

Over on the Greenlight page, Tammeka Games writes…

“We have been selected in the September round and will have more news to share soon, along with the official Steam game profile page to share very soon! Thank you everyone who voted YES for us and had the faith in us to deliver, we very much will do!”

That’s good news. I also hope that they’ll be able to finish the game in its entirety or at least restart their Kickstarter.

If you have no idea what Radial-G is like, it’s basically this generation’s Wipeout. Remember that game? From way back on the PSX? No? No problem. Check out some gameplay footage of Radial-G below.

Excited yet? Well, I am.

There are some more tracks on the way, as well as some pretty nifty multiplayer elements planned for release, too. It’s basically going to be a mix of F-Zero, Wipeout and a bit of Yoshiaki Kawajiri‘s The Running Man.  Awesome stuff.

I’ll provide some extra updates and bits of info on the game after they officially get listed in the Greenlight batch for September, which should be due to drop two weeks from now.

In the meantime, you can check out the slowly growing community by visiting the official Radial-G: Racing Revolved Greenlight page.
