Under Night In-Birth Coming To North America For PS3 In 2015

Under The Night In-Birth

A Japanese anime-fighting game called Under Night In-Birth: Exe Late is coming to North America sometime in 2015, according to Aksys Games. If you’re not familiar with the game series, you’re probably thinking this has something to do with getting pregnant because a character was late during their time of the month. Don’t worry, I kind of fell into the same trap.

Actually, the game has a pretty complex storyline that I’m not going to get into simply because you know how some of those animes can droll on for quite some time with some really crazy character and plot developments. So long story short: this is a fantasy, modern tale about a kid and a girl who fight immortals. That’s the easy way of putting it.

Anyway, according to Siliconera Aksys Games made it known that the sprite-based anime fighter would be coming Stateside for PlayStation 3 owners.

If the character artwork looks somewhat familiar to you, maybe it’s because the game was co-developed by Ecole Software and French Bread. You might recognize the latter developer as the group behind notable titles such as Melty Blood (a game in which Under Night In-Birth shares a similar visual aesthetic) and Ragnarok Battle Offline.

Now I’ll be honest, I don’t quite think that French Bread is quite on par to SNK Playmore or Steel Hearts when it comes to the quality of their sprites or fighting animations, but I do think that they’re a talented group nonetheless. Personally, SNK Playmore and Arc System Works kind of tie as far as the quality of fighter animations and character designs go. But hey, to each his/her own.

If you’re a fan of French Bread and you’re curious about a localized version of Under Night In-Birth, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for it when it launches in North America for the PS3.
