Funimation has plans on unleashing their new anime based on the original Bayonetta from Platinum Games. While already a year-old, out and available over in Japan, the anime is aiming to find a comfortable home this fall season on the DVD and Blu-ray players in North America. The full-length movie will accompany the launch of Nintendo and Platinum Games’ Wii U exclusive, Bayonetta 2.
Wii U Daily spotted the new English trailer for famed animation director Fuminori Kizaki’s upcoming Bayonetta: Bloody Fate.
For those of you who don’t know, Kizaki-san is responsible for the Samuel L. Jackson-led Afro Samurai. A popular anime about a samurai with an afro.
Anyway, too much twaddle and not enough English anime trailer action. So let’s get right to it.
It looks surprisingly sleek. However, if I did have one minor quip about the whole thing, it would be that the action sometimes seems terribly hard to follow. I had a similar problem with some of the action sequences in Afro Samurai, where the quick-cuts and dynamic angles were so quickly cut and so dynamic that it was next-to-nigh impossible to actually see or understand what exactly was happening on screen.
Nevertheless, I’m not going to deny the fact that the lines are beautiful and the coloring is superb. A major job well done by those cell artists. In fact, nearly every frame looks like it could be blown up to the size of a full portrait and framed.
As for the movie itself, it’s a basic tale of Bayonetta’s original journey from the first game, as well as some mysterious aspects left to unravel deep within the movie’s plot.
The release of the English version of Bloody Fate is primed and aimed at coinciding with the release of Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U.
You can look for the game and the anime to become available Stateside starting October 21st. If you’re looking to get in your digs early with the movie, you can pre-order right now from Funimation’s official website.
