Have you tried dining with raclette grill at home with your friends? Raclette dinner is an easy way to dine with your friends at the table in front of a raclette grill while making a conversation with them. You are not cooking for your guests but they cook with you. Is it not great?

Raclette is a kind of an electric grill, put up on the table while each member select what cut meat and vegetables they would like to eat. Raclette also means a cheese made of cows milk which is melted and scraped from the fire. This kind of dining is originated from Switzerland and is also very common here in Germany.

Needed For Raclette Dinner:

  • Electric raclette grill with utensils
  • Vegetables such as broccoli, bell peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, aubergine, tomatoes, etc.
  • Meat such as chicken, pork or beef
  • Seafood like fresh or defrosted shrimps, fresh tuna, squid, etc…
  • Spices such as salt, soy sauce, herbs and pepper
  • Different kinds of sauces
  • Raclette cheese
  • Boiled potatoes
  • Baguette bread
  • Beer, wine or juice for drinks.
  • Olive oil for brushing the raclette grill and some veggies to keep from drying out.
  • Small bowls for your meat and veggies.

How To Prepare A Raclette Dinner:

  1. Cut the meat and vegetables in small pieces.
  2. Marinate the thinly sliced meat with soy sauce, lemon juice and garlic for a few hours to have a delicious taste.
  3. Cut the boiled potatoes into half.
  4. Slice the baguette bread.
  5. Heat the raclette grill 10-15 minutes before you start gathering around the table.

How To Enjoy The Raclette Dinner:

Before you start with your dinner, see to it that you have no small kids around playing. Put your raclette grill on at the center of your table. Put all the sliced marinated meat, vegetables, bread, cheese, sauces, salt and pepper on the table where everyone can easily serve themselves. Every person can put the chosen food to grill on their small raclette pans with raclette cheeses on them. Some meat and seafood should be on top of  the raclette grill. While waiting for the food, you can talk to each other about every thing. Serve the food with what ever drinks you like. Beer, water, wine or juice.

Bread Rolls Leftover Pizza Style

Bread Rolls Tuna and Mozzarella Pizza, Bread Rolls Salami Pizza
Bread Rolls Tuna and Mozzarella Pizza, Bread Rolls Salami Pizza

This evening I just wanted to make a simple tuna veggie salad for our dinner. When I inspected what ingredients I could add to the salad, I saw 5 bread rolls leftover from the other day. I thought they were all gone eaten by my hubby but they were not. I was thinking then that he would make bread crumbs from those rolls for making Frikadellen ( German hamburger). Then I imagined plenty of bread crumbs on the floor just like the last time he made them and not vacuumed the mess. I thought, “no way.” Then I was thinking what I could do about those bread rolls. I decided to make pizza style half bread rolls for dinner together with the salad. Gladfully, I had everything I needed for bread rolls pizza. I hate wasting food because I know how hunger felt like without anything to eat.

Ingredients: (2-3 persons)

5 leftover bread rolls cut in halves

5 tablespoons of tomato sauce, if not catsup

3 Sandwich salami, sliced

1 can tuna flakes in oil

a few pieces of mozzarella

pizza herb spices

salt and white pepper  powder to taste

grated Gouda cheese

  1. Heat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Spread the tomato sauce or catchup on the bread roll halves.
  3. Add the pizza herb spices on top of the sauce.
  4.  Top the 5 halves of the bread rolls with salami slices and grated cheese.
  5. Top the 5 halves of the bread rolls with tuna flakes, salt, pepper powder, mozzarella and grated cheese.
  6. Put them all in the baking tin and bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese melted.
  7. Serve with vegetable salad. Enjoy your selfmade bread roll leftover pizza.

This recipe is actually good for snacks when you have an unexpected visitors. If you don´t have leftover bread rolls, you can use white or whole wheat sandwich bread. I have tried this one with whole wheat sandwich bread and it was delicious, too. You can use another toppings if you want to, like ham, bacon, turkey meat, chicken flakes or any leftover food you have at home.

Thanks for reading and please don´t forget to comment and share this recipe to any social media sites you have. Enjoy your new day.

My Chop Suey Recipe

My Chop Suey Recipe
My Chop Suey Recipe

Are you fond of eating Asian food? Have you tried eating chop suey?

When I was interacting here at Blogjob a few hours ago, I came across of a blog from I think Maricel. She said that her mother-in-law was cooking chop suey. I became hungry reading her blog that I thought why not make my own chop suey for dinner. It was a spontaneous dinner idea and I did not have all the ingredients that I normally eat in a chop suey and so I just used the vegetables I have in my fridge. There was no bell pepper but then I used any veggies I had. It was  many years ago I have eaten this food and suddenly I was craving. Thankfully, I still know how to make chop suey.

Ingredients of Chop Suey Recipe:

500 grams pork meat, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

a few drops of lemon juice or 1 calamansi juice

2 cloves chopped garlic (1 is for marinating)

1 chopped onion

1 sliced leek

2 carrots, peeled and sliced slantly

2 handfuls of string beans, cut into half

4 leaves chinese cabbage

2 stalks of spring onions

1 cup of broth ( chicken, beef or pork broth) mixed with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch

oil for frying

soy sauce

salt and pepper to taste

chili (optional)

Some chop suey ingredients
Some chop suey ingredients

How to make Chop Suey

  1. Marinate the meat with soy sauce, few drops of lemon juice and chopped garlic.
  2. Heat the frying pan or wok. Add the oil and fried the marinated meat until brown. Set aside.
  3. Then fry the garlic, onion and veggies except the chinese cabbage in the same wok. The veggies which take a long time to cook should be first in the wok.
  4. Return the meat in the wok and simmer together with the veggies until done but not soft.
  5. Add the cabbage and spring onions. Add the broth with cornstarch and mix them well.
  6. Taste with salt and pepper until done.
  7. Serve with boiled rice.

Tip: If you don´t have fresh broth, you can use ready made broth from the supermarket. Be careful with using ready made broth as it already contains salt.
