Do you enjoy shopping online as much as I do?
I am sure some of us are shopaholic , swiping Credit Cards like there is no
Fortunately, some of us a wise shopper, use coupons, vouchers to entitle
discounts and collect points for Cashback.
Shopping from the comfort of your home on a computer or smartphone
can be convenient and fun.
You are able to save a bit of money compare to shopping at shopping malls or
nearby grocery shops.
However, there are also pitfalls that you had to encounter when you shop online.
Here are a few tips that you should keep in mind before you pull out your
credit card and log on.
- Buy from Company or SOHO- Warranty Period
Know the difference between purchasing from a company and an individual also
known as SOHO.
Read their terms and conditions, return policies, the warranty period.
These rules are stated at the bottom of the items offered.
Do not skip this reading because you are considered to have agreed with the
company or SOHO rules stated online,when you made the purchase.
Your legal protection as a consumer might be different when buying an individual.
Company usually provide 7, 14 or 30 days warranty upon your received date.
However, individual (SOHO) warranty period may be shorter or “NO Warranty” at
all upon purchase.
2) Compare the price before purchase
Easy comparison shopping is one of the great advantages of buying online.
Make the most of it by checking the same product at several sites to get the best

Some companies offer FREE Shipping fees while others gives you extra discounts if
you purchase a minimum amount that is required.
A few companies provide FREE return delivery fees
( The courier service fees are charged on them ).
Others, you would have to pay the courier fee first and claim it back later.
4) ReturnPolicy Rules
Before completing an online transaction, read the sites delivery and return policies.
Make sure that an unsatisfactory product can be sent back for a refund.
You may have to fill up a Return / Refund form online , wait for their email
before you follow the site instruction show to return the item to them.
5) Take Precautions
If you are unfamiliar with an online store, take the same precautions you would
with traditional mail or telephone merchants.
Always ask , don’t presume.
You can send emails to ask your doubts or join forums / Facebook where you can
get your detailed answers from helpful consumers.
Ask your friends about the sites where they have successfully shopped online.
6) Use Debit Card
My friends usually shop at Lazada , Zalora and 11 Street with their debit card rather
than credit card.
You can reduce the chances of fraud , scams, misused by hackers when you deposit
a small amount of money into your debit card.
Minimize your loss.
7) Clear History
At the end of the transaction, or reload the web page and clear the memory and
disk caches to remove credit card information from your computer and browser.
