Please say NO to open burning
I am really against open burning.
Please say NO to open burning.
Please do not burn trash, dried leaves or grass in your backyard.
It is badly polluting the fresh air that we inhale daily.
In addition to it, carbon monoxide released by vehicles on the road had polluted the air on earth .
I really couldn’t understand why do old folks like my mother n law and my neighbors kept burning dried leaves, grass and trash in the backyard.
Once I asked my mom in law why did she do it.
She told me that:
- There is no place to discard the leaves and cut grasses, so burning is the only option to erase the existence.
- Burning also helps the soil to fertilized, But what about the air, isn’t it polluted
- She said the wind will blow the smoke elsewhere. None of her concern.
- I found no logic in her claims which I believed that my neighbors had practiced open burning with the same reasons.
I cannot stand when they started to burn the leaves or trash that sends the smoke into the house.
Everytime my neighbor started, I had to close all the windows and doors in order to prevent the smoke from coming into our home.
Furthermore, I had to rush out to keep my wet clean laundry hung on the clothes line.
Otherwise, those clean clothes would absorb the smoke, giving me more work to do, had to rewash them . bin.
There are a few ways you could get rid of the trash or dried leaves after cleaning up the garden.
Fill them up in a gunny sack, tie it up and place it next to the garbage bin. Most garbage collector are willingly to get rid of them if you do it well.
Throw the trash in the trash site. Every residential area has a location where you can dispose trash that cannot fit in the garbage bin.
Open burning does not dispose the garbage nor dried leaves well.
The ashes will fill up in the air as the wind blows and end up in your neighbor’s car porch, windows, indoor homes.
This will cause more problems to others.
Please be considerate.
