Take That- Beautiful World / The Circus: Top 10 Singles in US and UK

Take That- Beautiful World

United States- Take That made a comeback but the album was not released in the country, so no singles ever made it to chart.

United Kingdom- After more than a decade, Take That made a comeback through “Beautiful World”, which even became their biggest selling album in the country ever for achieving multiple platinum status. It released four singles from the album. The top 10 singles from the album were:
Patience- #1
Shine- #1
Rule the World- #2
Three singles went to top 10 from “Beautiful World”. Since there were four singles released from it, they had one single which failed to reach the top 10. “I’d Wait for Life” only peaked at number 17. While “Patience” and “Shine”, were big chart-toppers.

The biggest selling single from the album was “Patience” after going platinum in United Kingdom by BPI. Enjoy the song that I will share below:

Take That- The Circus
United States- The group wasn’t able to release the album in United States again, thus, the incapability to earn another top 10 single for the group.

United Kingdom- Take That released the album “The Circus” to follow their previous comeback album. It was again a big seller, and they released at least four singles and all charted and was their second biggest seller ever. However, not all of the singles from the album reached the top 10. Check which songs made it to that upper 10 position:
Greatest Day- #1
Said It All- #9
Only two single from the four released made it to the top 10. The two single which failed to reach the top 10 were “Up All Night” at number 14, and “The Garden” at number 97. “Greatest Day” was their biggest hit for reaching number 1.

Since “Greatest Day” was their highest peak and their only number 1 single, I will share the song below and hope you will do enjoy it especially Take That fans:

Take That- Nobody Else / Greatest Hits: Top 10 Singles in US and UK

Take That- Never Forget
United States- Take That finally break the American market through the album “Nobody Else”. They also released a single which charted, but let’s see what went to top 10.
Back for Good- #7
Take That finally scored a top 10 single in the country with “Back for Good” when it peaked at number 7. However, the guys were considered one-hit wonder as it is their only single to grace the American singles chart.

United Kingdom- Take That remained superstars in United Kingdom through this album. They had released three zingles off the album, and the songs which went to top 10 were:
Sure- #1
Back for Good- #1
Never Forget- #1
The guys apparently reached number 1 with all their singles from the album. But among those singles which went to number 1, “Back for Good” was their biggest hit as it sold more than a million copies in the country alone. Still, “Sure” and “Never Forget” became big hits. The group already totaled 12 top 10 hits and 7 number 1 hits at the time.

Take That had three number 1 singles from the album. The most standout was “Back for Good” as it is the biggest seller in UK, and their only single to chart in the US. Worldwide, it was also their biggest hit. Hence, I am sharing that song.

Take That- Greatest Hits
United States- No singles were released from the album, as well as the album itself.

United Kingdom- Take That released the compilation album “Greatest Hits” after three hit albums in the country. It only released one single and see if it reached the top 10:
How Deep is Your Love- #1
Take That’s only single released from the album was the remake of Bee Gees’ original hit “How Deep Is Your Love”. The single became a hit when it reached number 1.

Eventhough the song was not their original song, I am going to share the song which their own version is a good one too.

Take That- Everything Changes: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Take That- Everything Changes
United States- Take That haven’t able to break the American market with this album and unable to score a top 10 hit. But they were on track to release their records at that time.

United Kingdom- After scoring three top 10 singles from their album “Take That and Party”, the lads released this second album which gave the guys a lot of hits. Six singles were released from “Everything Changes” but let’s see which ones reached the top 10:
Why Can’t I Wake Up with You- #2
Pray- #1
Relight My Fire (ft. Lulu)- #1
Babe- #1
Everything Changes- #1
Love Ain’t Here Anymore- #3
All of Take That’s singles from “Everything Changes” went to top 3 not just the top 10. What’s more surprising with the guys is four songs went to number 1. It started with the upbeat song “Pray”, followed by the remake track “Relight My Fire” which featured Lulu, “Babe”, and the title track “Everything Changes”. Their first single for the album “Why Can’t I Wake Up with You” is an uptempo track peaked at number 2, while the ballad “Love Ain’t Here Anymore” stayed at number 3. They were among few artists to score six singles in an album. They had a total of nine top 10 hits after this album., and they were top boyband in the country at that time.

Since Take That had four number 1 singles from the album, I would be choosing one song from those our tracks. The biggest seller from the album has been “Babe”, as it went platinum in UK as reported by BPI. Other number 1 songs failed to reach that feat, but still received certifications. Now, check the song “Babe” below:

Babe (Chorus)
Babe I’m here again, I tell you I’m here again
Where have you been?
Babe, I’m back again, I tell you I’m back again
Where have you been?

Take That- Take That & Party: Top 10 Singles in US and UK and Memorable Chorus of a Song

Take That- Take That & Party
United States- Take That never achieved success in United States during the earlier part of their career. At the time, New Kids on the Block is topping American charts, which shortly declined.

United Kingdom- Take That also had success with their singles from “Take That & Party” album. They scored at least a total of three songs to reach the top 10 in United Kingdom. Here are those big songs:
It Only Takes a Minute- #7
A Million Love Songs- #7
Could it Be Magic- #3
Take That actually released 8 singles from “Take That & Party”. However, only three songs charted in the country. Still a success for them for scoring at least three successful singles from it. Their biggest single which is “Could It Be Magic” was original by Barry Manilow, while “It Only Takes a Minute” was original by Tavares.

As mentioned, “Could It Be Magic” was the group’s biggest selling and highest charting single. However, it is a remake single. So the only two choices were between “It Only Takes a Minute” and “A Million Love Songs”. The former was also a remake so the only choice is “A Million Love Songs” since it is an original song. So I am sharing the video and not the chorus of the song, rather the stanza which is the notable part of the song. Check below:

A Million Love Songs (memorable lines)
A million love songs later
And here I am trying to tell you that I care
A million love songs later
And here I am
Looking to the future now
This is what I see
A million chances pass me by
A million chances to hold you
Take me back, take me back
To where I used to be
To hide away from all my truth
Through the light I see

Take That

They were “Everything Changes” (their second album), “Never Forget”, and their compilation album “Greatest Hits”. However, the group achived more success with their comeback and reunion in 2000’s. Those albums were “Beautiful World” (their biggest seller ever), “The Circus”, “Progress”, “III”, and the extended play “Progressed”. Take That, thus, the most successful boyband ever in United Kingdom, not even the worldwide successful One Direction.

JLS
United States- JLS attempted to release records in America but never pushed through as a single released never charted.
United Kingdom- The R&B boy group did well in their own country, United Kingdom, which their debut album also called “JLS” went to number 1. The album was a big seller which BPI certified it with 4x platinum. Their other albums went to top 5.

United States- One Direction became the biggest boyband to hit America this 2010’s. They had four consecutive number 1 albums. “Up All Night” was their first album which became a number 1 album and multiplatinum. “Take Me Home” was as successful as well. It was followed by “Midnight Memories” which was their fastest seller. Then “FOUR” which was their last number 1 album. “Made in the A.M.” failed from number 1 which only settled at second after a battle with Justin Bieber.
United Kingdom- One Direction failed to top the albums chart with their first album, just peaking at number 2. However, their succeeding albums “Take Me Home”, Midnight Memories”, “FOUR”, and “Made in the A.M.”, all went to number one.

Top 16 Boyband Hits of 1990s

Boybands became very popular during 1990s, particularly in the second half despite boybands already existed during the first half. It is the time when the term ‘boyband’ became known. Boybands were hated by many especially those rock fans and they were even stereotype in music. Other boybands even deny themselves as boybands. In the list below were the top 15 boyband hits during 1990s. It is not according to sales, rather, how much a song made impact.

98 Degrees- The Hardest Thing
The group made big hits in 1999 which included this R&B ballad that hit the top 5 of Billboard. Guess what? It even peaked higher than Backstreet Boys’ biggest worldwide hit.

Five- When the Lights Go Out
The five (apparently with their band name) hit the charts with this song and shown a potential to come on par with Backstreet Boys. However, it was not sustained and this song became their biggest and only top 5 in US. While internationally, it was huge especially in Asia and Europe.

Backstreet Boys- As Long As You Love Me
This is a top 5 hit in majority of the countries but did not made it in Billboard Hot 100, though it was an airplay success. It remains one of BSB’s signature mid-tempo hits.

98 Degrees- Because of You
This was 98 Degrees’ first top 5 hit and was cool enough for the ears with its R&B melody. The song was also successful in Asia.

Westlife- Swear it Again
This was the Irish lads’ first ever single and started a string of number 1 hits in the UK. In the US, it remained their only hit as it reach the top 20.

New Kids on the Block- Hangin’ Tough
Before Backstreet Boys, NKOTB already made a handful of hits and this upbeat track is one of their staple hits.

NSYNC- I Want You Back
With the song’s sound, you will think it’s a BSB song. But wait, they eventually became rival of BSB when this song hit top 10 in many countries.

Backstreet Boys- Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)
This upbeat track is one of the most memorable song and video of the band because of its horror theme. It was a top ten hit in many countries.

Boyz II Men- On Bended Knee
One of the biggest ballads of early 1990s and followed the 2 number one hits of the band.

Boyzone- No Matter What
The song only charted in component charts of Billboard and did not made a huge impact in the US, but it was huge elsewhere and one of the biggest selling boyband singles.

New Kids on the Block- Step By Step
This is the memorable hit of the band. Once I heard the words “step by step”, the song comes to my mind. It was a big number 1 hit then.

Backstreet Boys- Quit Playing Games
This is officially the group’s first big hit as it hit top 10 elsewhere it charted, which included a top 2 position in the US.

Boyz II Men- I’ll Make Love to You
This song about romance is a brother of the group’s previous hit at the time with its sound. It eventually became the longest number 1 hit in Billboard Hot 100 by a boyband.

Take That- Back for Good
This beautiful ballad became a big hit anywhere and finally their entrance to US market for hitting the top 10. Nevertheless, it is their only hit there.

Backstreet Boys- I Want it That Way
This song hit number 1 or top 5 in every country it charted. Yet, in the US, it failed the top 5 and only sat at number 6. Still, it remained their biggest hit due to huge impact on people.

Boyz II Men- End of the Road
This is one of the biggest boyband hit ever. It topped the US for 12 weeks! Wow! It was an achievement that only Boyz II Men only achieved! Their succeeding song topped for 13 weeks but this song was a bigger hit internationally.

European Pop Groups that Didn’t Break American Market

There are lots of European pop groups who became successful in their territory but received moderate response in America. Even Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, initially, they were popular in Europe and Asia but were still unknown in their homeland. After their success in other countries, they broke the American music stores with millions of albums sold and top ten hits.

Some European pop groups though, made it big in America as well. Consider the Spice Girls who change the pop landscape and popularity crossed to America. One Direction is also one of these groups that hit it big Stateside. But how about the other groups who attempted but failed? Who are these bands? Check below:

Westlife

These guys from Ireland are record breakers in UK for scoring 14 number 1 hits and more than 20 top 10 hits. They also sold millions in Asia. They tried to break American market with their debut but to no avail even though scoring 1 top 20 hit via “Swear it Again”. They attempted to crack American market again but didn’t push through. Still, they were one of the biggest selling boybands of all time.

Take That

Take That can be considered biggest selling British band in their own country. Despite their success, they remained one-hit wonder in the US. If not for “Back for Good”, they never got known in the US.

Boyzone

This Irish boyband came before Westlife and they became successful in Europe and Asia during their peak. Their biggest hit “No Matter What”, entered component charts of Billboard but never became a hit in official charts.

Girls Aloud

Girls Aloud became superstars in UK after several platinum albums and more than 20 top 10 hits. The girls focused in the UK and did not break the US market.

Sugababes

Sugababes used to have 3 members and when one of the member left, she was replaced. The group ended with no original member left. However, the group became huge in UK and Europe with numerous top 10 hits but performed moderately in the US with only one top 100 with “Hole in the Head”, which was almost at the bottom of the chart.

Steps

This five-piece male and female group scored multiple hits in UK and multi-platinum albums. They had an album that was sold in US but with modest reception.
