Sugababes- Taller in More Ways: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Sugababes- Taller in More Ways
United States- Sugababes haven’t bothered to released the album and no singles were released, as nothing even charted at the component charts of Billboard from the album. Admittedly, there are songs that were potential hits such as “Push the Button” but wasn’t released there, as well the slower tempo “Ugly”.

United Kingdom- Sugababes is already on their fourth album with “Taller in More Ways” and they still made it big in the country. The album had released another four singles to follow the success of their singles from their previous albums. Check the turn-out if the girls succeeded with their singles.
Push the Button- #1
Ugly- #3
Red Dress- #4
So, Sugababes achieved another milestone from this album “Taller in More Ways”. It gave them three top 10 hits and a number 1 hit with “Push the Button”. While “Ugly” did well fpr reaching number 3. I noticed, all those singles made it to top 5 too. At that time, they already had about 11 top 10 hits, four singles were number 1 hits. That was such a feat for a pop group.

“Push the Button” was the girls’ biggest hit from “Taller in More Ways”. Internationally, it was their biggest hit ever as well as it went to number 1 in several countries. But it’s not the song I am sharing. I decided to share “Ugly” because of its compelling lyrics that is intended to empower real inner beauty. “Button” also has sexual theme, that’s why, I preferred “Ugly”. It even has a beautiful melody and harmonies of the girls. Go and enjoy the song below and check what I mean:

Ugly (Chorus)
People are all the same
And we only get judged by what we do
Personality reflects name
And if I’m ugly then
So are you
So are you

Sugababes- Three: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Sugababes- Three
United States- Attempts were made to release the album “Three” by Sugababes in United States. But it failed to make a great impact. However, their single “Hole in the Head” was a number 1 hit in dance charts. But that’s not the basis of a single’s success of its mainstream success.

United Kingdom- Sugababes remains one of the biggest female group in United Kingdom with the release of this album, as well as the singles released for it. The girls had released a total of four singles to support the LP. It seemed all those song did well. Check the peaks of those songs.
Hole in the Head- #1
Too Lost in You- #10
In the Middle- #8
Caught in a Moment- #8
After all the singles were released from the albums, it was accounted that it scored a total of four singles added to their number of top 10 hits. Their biggest hit from the record was obviously the only number 1 single “Hole in the Head”. The three singles charted between the top 5 and top 10. The girls already scored a total of eight top 10 hits with this album, as well as three number 1 singles.

The girls scored one number 1 single from the album and it was “Hole in the Head”. The dance track was undeniably a catchy track too. My favorite from the album was “Too Lost in You”, but of course, I am sharing “Hole in the Head” as it os a great song too, and their biggest hit from the LP. Groove with the music as I share it below.

Hole in the Head (Chorus)
Ooh, boy d’you miss me like a hole in the head
Because I do boy,
And it’s cool boy
And ooh, bet you never thought I’d get out of bed
Because of you boy,
Such a fool boy

Sugababes- One Touch / Angels with Dirty Faces: Top 10 Singles in US and UK /Memorable Chorus of a Song

Sugababes- One Touch
United States- There may be efforts of releasing the album but no singles managed to chart United States. Sugababes is yet to chart in the US then.

United Kingdom- Sugababes released at least four singles in UK. However, they only scored 1 single to reach the top 10. Here it is:
Overload- #6
Only one single peaked inside the top 10. But her two singles almost made it to the boundary as “New Year” and “Run for Cover” peaked at number 12 and 13 respectively. Their last single off the record “Soul Sound” only peaked at number 30.

Since the girls only scored one top ten hit “Overload”, I had chosen the song to share its chorus and music video below. See for it below:

Overload (Chorus)
Train comes I don’t know its destination
It’s a one-way ticket to a madman’s situation
Train comes I don’t know its destination
It’s a one-way ticket to a madman’s situation

Sugababes- Angels With Dirty Faces
United States- Efforts to break the American market has still been impossible for the girls. Clearly, no single charted in the country.

United Kingdom- Sugababes did better in this album as three of their four singles released went to top 10. Check those singles below:
Freak Like Me- #1
Round Round- #1
Stronger / Angels With Dirty Faces- #7
With the three singles reaching the top 10, two of them went to number 1. The girls obviously did well in this album for that achievement. “Stronger” and “Angels With Dirty Faces” were released as a double sided single. Their song “Shape” reached number 11.

The song I had chosen was “Round Round”. The reason is it is very catchy and did well in Asian charts. Enjoy the song I  sharing below and check the chorus of the song.

Round Round (chorus)
Round, round baby
Round, round
Spinning out on me
I don’t need no man
Got my kicks for free
We’ll ride still fired on the beat down low
I don’t need nobody but my honeys
When I go

Album’s Singles Review: “One Touch” and “Angels with Dirty Faces” by Sugababes

One Touch (album)
Sugababes released “One Touch” as their first album and this record is a great one for its entire composition. It has pop, R&B , and soul sound which you cannot hear from other artists at that moment when it was released. The album performed moderately though as it only peaked at 26th in their hometown, United Kingdom.

Overload
“Overload” is a beautiful pop track with R&B influence. But it does not sound like any R&B song during that time. The song became the first of their string of hits in UK, where it reached number 6.
Rate: 8.75 out of 10

New Year
“New Year” is not really a seasonal or holiday song as it is a heartbreak song. The song was soft pop and R&B. It failed to follow the success of “Overload” when it only peaked at number 12 in United Kingdom.
Rate: 8.25 out of 10

Run for Cover
“Run for Cover” is a pop and R&B song which was just smooth, but has a deeper and painful story. The single only peaked at number 13 in UK, one position lower than their previous single.
Rate: 7.75 out of 10

Soul Sound
“Soul Sound was released as the last single for “One Touch”. I love the beat of the song as it is a simple R&B song. It charted only at top 30 in United Kingdom.
Rate: 7.75 out of 10

Angels with Dirty Faces (album)
“Angels with Dirty Faces” was the group’s second album. The record did better than “One Touch” as it peaked at number two in United Kingdom. The album sounds more adventurous than “One Touch”

Freak Like Me
“Freak Like Me” was released as the first single for “Angels with Dirty Faces” album. It was also a cover from original singer Adina Howard. The song became the trio’s first number 1 hit in UK as well as second top ten. It was also their first single with new member and replacement of Siobhan, Heidi Range.
Rate: 8.25 out of 10

Round Round
“Round Round” was the second single from the album, likewise their second number 1 single. It was a beautiful and catchy pop song that can stay on your brain after listening to it.
Rate: 8.75 out of 10

Stronger
“Stronger” is a slower song from the girls which was the A-side single with the title track. It went to number 7 in UK charts.
Rate: 8.5 out of 10

Songs with Repeated Word TWICE in its Title During the Last 20 Years

Repeated words in a song can have its good effect for musicians as they can easily linger on ones mind. Many artists adapt it in their music and most of these hits became huge hits. During the last 20 years, here are some of those songs with repeated word twice in its title.

Black Eyed Peas- Boom Boom Pow
The song may have another word (pow) in the title but ‘boom’was mentioned twice. It was effective for the hip-hop group as at that time it was released, it was their longest number 1 hit (in Billboard Hot 100) for a staggering 12 weeks.

Hot Chelle Rae- Tonight, Tonight
The pop/rock group finally scored their first hit with “Tonight, Tonight” and it seems the formula of repeating ‘tonight’ in the song is effective. It went to top 10 in a number of official charts worldwide.

Maroon 5 is saying ‘goodnight’and said it twice. The pop/rock song performed moderately in different charts.

Santana ft. The Product G&B- Maria, Maria

This Naughty Boy and Sam Smith hit garnered millions of sales and hundreds of millions of views on YouTube due to its catchy tune and the repeated word ‘la, la’.

Pussycat Dolls- Buttons
Going sexy this time, the song went to the top 3 of US and became one of the most successful singles from PCD.

Destiny’s Child- Independent Women
This can be considered as the biggest girl band hit since 2000 with its female empowerment theme similar to Spice Girls’ Girl Power. Apart from topping the charts worldwide, it became the longest number 1 single by a girl group in history of Billboard singles chart. It’s also their first single as trio.

European Pop Groups that Didn’t Break American Market

There are lots of European pop groups who became successful in their territory but received moderate response in America. Even Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, initially, they were popular in Europe and Asia but were still unknown in their homeland. After their success in other countries, they broke the American music stores with millions of albums sold and top ten hits.

Some European pop groups though, made it big in America as well. Consider the Spice Girls who change the pop landscape and popularity crossed to America. One Direction is also one of these groups that hit it big Stateside. But how about the other groups who attempted but failed? Who are these bands? Check below:

Westlife

These guys from Ireland are record breakers in UK for scoring 14 number 1 hits and more than 20 top 10 hits. They also sold millions in Asia. They tried to break American market with their debut but to no avail even though scoring 1 top 20 hit via “Swear it Again”. They attempted to crack American market again but didn’t push through. Still, they were one of the biggest selling boybands of all time.

Take That

Take That can be considered biggest selling British band in their own country. Despite their success, they remained one-hit wonder in the US. If not for “Back for Good”, they never got known in the US.

Boyzone

This Irish boyband came before Westlife and they became successful in Europe and Asia during their peak. Their biggest hit “No Matter What”, entered component charts of Billboard but never became a hit in official charts.

Girls Aloud

Girls Aloud became superstars in UK after several platinum albums and more than 20 top 10 hits. The girls focused in the UK and did not break the US market.

Sugababes

Sugababes used to have 3 members and when one of the member left, she was replaced. The group ended with no original member left. However, the group became huge in UK and Europe with numerous top 10 hits but performed moderately in the US with only one top 100 with “Hole in the Head”, which was almost at the bottom of the chart.

Steps

This five-piece male and female group scored multiple hits in UK and multi-platinum albums. They had an album that was sold in US but with modest reception.
