Pop Groups that People Wanted to Have Reunion

I am a fan of music and I fell in love to the music of a lot of groups. As a music fan, I knew there were a lot there who are fans of groups too. I still follow such groups and see if they have something new to offer after their disbandment and ever wanted to reunite. Many fans still crave for these bands to make music again.

It might be impossible that the trio can reunite as a trio again. Sadly, that in early 2000’s, Lisa Lopes known as “Left Eye” passed away. She didn’t reach the point that their album “Girl Talk” was released, where she still has vocals, of course as a rapper. But fans still want the remaining two members to release new music. I think it is in the works.

Justin Timberlake had became a huge superstar but currently enjoying life out of the limelight as a father and a husband. When they had reunited in a perforance in VMA, fans looked back and wanted a reunion of the group since they took a hiatus and never heard back of new album since “Celebrity”.

Destiny’s Child
The two members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams shown up and performed with co-member Beyonce during the latter’s performance in Superbowl Halftime. It went fans to request the girls for a reunion album, yet, it didn’t happen.

Jonas Brothers
The guys has planned for an album released before, however, it was not released which frustrated a lot of fans. Maybe someday they will release a new one.

Spice Girls
They were the biggest pop group during 1990s and popularity was cut off when Ger Halliwell left the group. They had reunited in 2007 for a tour and a compilation album. But fans still wanted to see them back together. There were negotiations though for a reunion.

One Direction
It was just months ago when hiatus was announced but it seems fans are missing them and see them together again. Well, they recently had released the music video for “History”. While a reunion? It is still unlikely. Directioners though are hoping for the best.

Album’s Single Review: Spice Girls “Spice”

Spice Girls has invaded the world market and became phenomenal since 1996 until the departure of Geri Halliwell in 1998. This record has become a global smash going multiplatinum in numerous territories. The album has beautiful pop songs with slices of R&B, rap, and synth. We had this album before, and had enjoyed the tunes on ten tracks. The album is among the best sellers worldwide.

This a good way to start a career, a track that can stay in your mind after listening to it. The song which is dance pop with rap flavor is very catchy even ignoring the ‘zigazig ah’ stuff. It served as an introductory song and can relate to friendships. The song was eventually a smashing single worldwide when it reached number one in every country it entered.

Say You’ll Be There
After a very upbeat single “Wannabe”, this slightly upbeat song followed. It has R&B flavor and still danceable as performed by the girls. It went to number one in many countries again, and became their second in UK. While in America, it settled at third position.
Rate: 8.5 out of 10

2 Become 1
The girls went ballad this time with this pop melodic song with synths. Though, this song is about a guy and girl romance. It was eventually the girls third worldwide hit. In UK, it was their third album to reach number one while it settled at top 4 in US months ago.
Rate: 8.75 out of 10

I love this song because it is meant for the mothers since I have soft spot when it comes to mothers. The pop track has beautiful melody with nicely played guitar. It was the A-side track of “Who Do You Think You Are?” as a single which became a hit and their fourth consecutive number 1 single in UK.
Rate: 9.25 out of 10

Who Do You Think You Are?
This was the B-side track of “Mama”. The “superstar” song os upbeat and a perfect song in clubs. It was a hit as a side-track single with “Mama”.

Trends and Cliches in Mainstream Music (1995-1999)

In music, there are different kinds of styles that are often followed by other artists. As it becomes a trend, new artist will come out in the same genre or style, or even established artists follow suit.

From 1995-1999, there are a lot changes in mainstream music world. Pop music has been dominating the era as new artists came out and putting those established artists behind. Here are some of the trends and cliches from 1995 to 1999.

Female rockers
In 1995, Canadian singer Alanis Morissette dominated the record sales off her hit album “Jagged Little Pill”. With her success, other female artists doing pop/rock released some records. Sheryl Crow may had success with her debut album, but it was just a light album. Her second album sounded edgier apparently in her song “If It Makes You Happy”. On late 1997, Natalie Imbruglia released her first album “Left Off the Middle, and her 1998 single “Big Mistake” sounds like an Alanis song.

Different boybands existed like mushrooms from 1995-1999. Some bands though, failed to attain success. The most popular boyband this era was Backstreet Boys, while in Europe and Asia, Boyzone and others, did well too. In 1999, Irish boyband Westlife scored 3 UK number one hits which led to further successes. NSYNC achieved success in 1999 especially in US.

Girl Power phrase / Girl groups
British girl pop group Spice Girls became the most relevant artist during this era which their success was compared to The Beatles. However, the group took hiatus too early after Geri bidded goodbye. Girl power remains a relevant phrase until now. Girl groups though became a trend too. We heard and seen another UK girl group All Saints. Despite their edgy sound, they followed the Spice Girls as the second top girl group at that time, eventhough the Spice’s success was miles apart from them. Other girl groups who had short success were She Moves, Solid Harmonie, etc.

Movie Soundtrack Hits
Songs from a motion picture has become a trend in 1998 after Celine Dion’s hit from Titanic, “My Heart Will Go On”. Other soundtrack hits whicg followed suit were Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” from “City of Angels”, Marc Anthony and Tina Arena “I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You”, Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”, which became second most successful soundtrack in 1999.

Teen female stars
In 1999, we saw the success of Britney Spears from her album and singles. She eventually became one of the biggest female artist of all-time. After her success, Christina Aguilera topped the charts worldwide too. Then we saw the birth in music of Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore.

Latin music
Latin music became a trend again as we saw Ricky Martin climbs the chart in 1998, and popularity heightened in 1999 with his first English album. We also the success of Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias and Marc Anthony. All of these three artists achieved success with millions of records sold.
