United States- Savage Garden had two top 10 hits from their self-titled debut album. Their second album was “Affirmation” and had three singles in the country which charted. Check what song/s which went to top 10 from Affirmation:
I Knew I Loved You- #1
Unlike the duo’s debut album, Savage Garden only scored one top 10 hit from “Affirmation” which was “I Knew I Love You”. However, that song went to number 1, their second and last of their entire career. “The Animal Song” which was a soundtrack single and included in “Affirmation” reached number 19, while “Crash and Burn” peaked at number 24.

United Kingdom- Savage Garden achieved success from their second album “Affirmation” in United Kingdom too. They had a total of six songs released from the album, and all those songs charted. Not all of those singles went to top 10, so check what song/s did so:

Savage Garden- Savage Garden
United States- Savage Garden did very well with their 7x platinum self-titled debut album, as well as the singles released taken from it. They had three singles released im the country and check what went to the top 10:
I Want You- #4
Truly Madly Deeply- #1
Two among the three singles released from “Savage Garden” album went to the top 10. Their other single which failed to reach the higher position has been “To the Moon and Back” which reached number 24. “I Want You” was their first single that gave them success. Nevertheless, “Truly Madly Deeply” made them a bigger star after it reached number 1 in the country and became a sleeper hit there.

United Kingdom- Just like in the US, Savage Garden released three singles in United Kingdom. Those three singles charted, but it wasn’t an assurance that all of those songs went to top 10. See it below which song entered the top 10:

Music 10 B’s: Britney Spears to Bleed it Out

1. Britney Spears
She became one of the biggest female artists ever. She had a number of successful singles and can already be considered as a music icon. Her albums sold millions which “… Baby One More Time”, her first single ever, was her most successful.

2. Back at One
It is a R&B ballad by Brian McKnight from the album which is also called “Back at One”. It is a  beautiful track which gave Brian McKnight a top 10 hit in the US.

3. Breakaway
Kelly Clarkson’s second album which became a multiple platinum album. The title track of the record had been a top 10 in the US. I heard an Avril Lavigne influence on the song, as it was re-written by her.

4. Backstreet Boys
They were the biggest selling boyband ever which was based on sales from albums and singles. They were my sister and cousin’s favorite band and I admit not being a fan of them.

5. Break Me Shake Me
One of the tracks and singles released from the album by Savage Garden from their self-titled album. It is a pop rock track with heavier sound.

6. Bubbly
Hearing just the title, it sounds like really bubbly and refreshing. The song which was a song by Colbie Caillat became her biggest hit single ever. It is just a lovely and light song.

7. Boyzone
They were an Irish boyband who became popular with ballads and cover songs. They were one of the biggest groups in the United Kingdom then. I remember when they covered “Words by Bee Gees, which became their first number 1 hit.

8. Bad Romance
One of the most successful tracks by Lady Gaga. Aside from big sales, it was her most viewed video on YouTube too. It was taken from her extended play “The Fame Monster EP”.

9. Butterfly
Mariah Carey’s album which sounds more on R&B and hip-hop. There’s also a track which was released as the second single called “Butterfly”. It is oen of her lovely ballads.

One of the singles released from Linkin Park’s third studio album “Minutes to Midnight”. I noticed the different sound pf the band in that song.

Savage Garden‘s success with their self-titled album became the way for their second album “Affirmation”. The album was a success too, though it didn’t reach the level of success of “Savage Garden” album. It contains the same sound with more matured sound, which is pop rock.

The Animal Song
“The Animal Song” was released for the movie “The Other Sister” soundtrack. Eventually, it is included on their album “Affirmation”. It is a pop rock song and charted in many countries. It reached the top 20 in US and UK.

Album’s Singles Review: Savage Garden “Savage Garden”

Savage Garden had became one of Australia’s biggest pop artists. They achieved success not just in their own country, rather, became successful musicians worldwide. It started with this self-titled album which sold millions of albums. The album is consisted of pop rock songs which led comparisons to Swedish pop rock duo, Roxette, which they had similar sounds.

I Want You
This song is pop rock with lyrics sang too fast. I remember when I try to sing it but hardly succeeded due to the fast verses. The song brought them to mainstream success when it reached the top 5 of Billboard Hot 100.

To the Moon and Back
Savage Garden went more slower in this pop rock ballad. The song became a top 30 hit in America but had better performance in UK where it went top 10.

For many music artists, starting or entering the music industry is very difficult to make a good shot. There were other artists who did very well with their first single but turned out as one-hit wonder. However, there were artists who did very well with this debut single and their album did well too.

Since 1995, there were some artists which did very well with their first albums. Some had maintained their success but not everyone did well in their succeeding releases. Most in the list below were pop artists, do there were those with rock and R&B sound. Pop music just had a major change with bubblegum pop rose to popularity.

Alanis Morissette
Alanis may already had releases back then in her own country, her first album internationally became the biggest selling album by a newcomer.
