Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 November 1, 2015

After a great episode last night, the fun continues today for three more artists are set to perform again. Yesterday, five artists had shown their impersonation of music icons and most of them hit it, though some had missed.

Tonight’s performers were:

Sam Concepcion as James Reid
After being at the bottom last week, Sam is ready to redeem himself through impersonating a rising pop star and already a huge actor James Reid. It may have helped that Sam and James are best friends but copying someone you’re closed to is not that easy. It shows how Sam nailed the performance. However, James don’t have the identity that really suits a huge pop star except his innocent look which Sam never failed. Voice and movements are really James so it’s a good performance

Denise Laurel as Toni Braxton
She became a guy last week as one of the judges Jed Madela. But this week, she’s the sultry R&B icon Toni Braxton. Denise was obviously discouraged with her performance after missing some words at the beginning which affected her performance. Nevertheless, her looks is good. The voice may not be a spot on but she carried it knowing Toni’s amazing voice is hard to copy

KZ Tandingan as Abra
KZ becomes a man. Not just a man as she did what everybody could not do which is rapping. It can be understood that she doesn’t sound like Abra, but the attitude is very good. I may not be totally impressed with the impersonation but I enjoyed the performance. It reminded me of the time when I was a huge hip-hop fan.

All of the artists had finally performed, and based on their performances, my ranking for their performances were:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. KZ Tandingan
3. Eric Nicolas
4. Sam Concepcion
5. Myrtle Sarosa
6. Denise Laurel
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Michael Pangilinan

The turnout of rankings below:
1. KZ Tandingan
2. Kakai Bautista
3. Kean Cipriano
4. Myrtle Sarosa
5. Eric Nicolas
6. Sam Concepcion
7. Denise Laurel
8. Michael Pangilinan

Kakai and Kean were actually tie with their total points. Next week is expected to be another great episode so I am looking forward for that again.

Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 airs every Saturday and Sunday night on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 25, 2015

Fun continues tonight in Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 as three artists will perform tonight. Five artists already performed last night: Kean Cipriano, Myrtle Sarosa, KZ Tandingan, Michael Pangilinan and Denise Laurel. The three performers for tonight were:

Eric Nicolas as Apache Indian
Eric was tonight’s performer and did the fusion of Indian and Jamaican dancehall through the 1993 hit “Boom Shack-a-Lak” from Brit-Indian recording artist Apache Indian. The performance is so far good as Apache Indian is comedic like Eric. The vocals of Apache is husky which Eric has too.

Sam Concepcion as Ogie Alcasid
Sam’s turn to become a balladeer again as songwriter and singer Ogie Alcasid. The performance was very good as he got Ogie’s voice. Again, I disagree with Gary Valenciano’s judging. He often looks at minimal mistake which is just the pronunciation. He doesn’t do that to others who made more distinct mistake. The looks though is not approved for me.

Kakai Bautista as Julie Andrews
Tonight, Kakai did musical as Julie Andrews with her performance from the film with the same title as the song “The Sound of Music”. She received a standing ovation from all of the judges tonight. The voice and her looks are perfect even just when she entered the stage.

This is my personal final rankings for tonight:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. Denise Laurel
3. KZ Tandingan
4. Myrtle Sarosa
5. Sam Concepcion
6. Eric Nicolas
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Michael Pangilinan

So far, judges’ ranking for Kakai is agreeable, but with Denise whom they gave the standing ovation last night is not in their second. With the artists’ votes, Denise was pulled up to second.

Here’s the final ranking from the points accumulated from judges and artists’ votes:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. Denise Laurel
3. Michael Pangilinan
4. KZ Tandingan
5. Eric Nicolas
6. Myrtle Sarosa
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Sam Concepcion
Congratulations to Kakai who really deserves the win this week.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 11, 2015

  • The fun continued tonight with three more performers as the five were done last night. The following performers for tonight were:

Eric Nicolas- He impersonated actress Whoopi Goldberg which he performed “I Will Follow You” from the hit 1990s film “Sister’s Act”. He may not completely looked like Whoopi but the performance is all fun.

Denise Laurel- She nailed her impersonation of Broadway Diva Lea Salonga. Knowing Lea for her clean singing and pitch perfect, Denise never shown intimidation for her performance. She sang “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal?” (Why Do I Love You So Much?) very well. Tonight, I think she is the best performer.

Sam Concepcion- It was fun to see Sam nailing his performances. Tonight, he impersonated Dong Abay of the band Yano. As usual, he did it well and served as his redemption from last week’s poor performance.

This week is the best episode of YFSF2 as the artists did very well in their performances. My poorest performer for me is Kean Cipriano. Here’s my ranking for all the performances:

    1. Denise Laurel
    2. KZ Tandingan
    3. Sam Concepcion
    4. Kakai Bautista
    5. Myrtle Sarosa
    6. Eric Nicolas
    7. Michael Pangilinan
    8. Kean Cipriano

The judges had spoken and already gave their judgement. However, the artists’ votes affected the ranking. The result for this week’s episode below:

    1. Sam Concepcion
    2. Denise Laurel
    3. Kakai Bautista
    4. KZ Tandingan
    5. Kean Cipriano
    6. Eric Nicolas
    7. Michael Pangilinan
    8. Myrtle Sarosa

Sam again won for the second time. He’s a frontrunner and will surely make it at the top four. So far, this show is all about fun and giving the entertainment for the viewers.

Next week will be another exciting week as the artists already knew who are they impersonating. Surely, there will be lots of surprises again. We are also looking forward for Melai’s impersonation.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.

  • Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 4, 2015

The recap continues for the show. And tonight, the winner for this week was finally announced. Five artists had performed last night and the three had performed tonight which affected the rankings.

Tonight’s show was started by Kean Cipriano as Pop/Rock princess Avril Lavigne. The looks was really cool even though he reminds me of “White Chicks”. The vocals wasn’t done in falsetto which I am not convinced. So far, the performance was good, even better than last week when he’s the winner.

Next to Kean was Michael Pangilinan as another Michael, comedian/singer Michael V. It’s a shift from the usual pop and R&B performances from previous weeks, which at this time as novelty singer. The face was close but the voice didn’t hit it

Finally, KZ took the floor and impersonated British pop star Jessie J. She has the best performance tonight. She might not look exactly like her, but she sang it well, likewise her movements were very Jessie J. The judges and even the audience gave her a standing ovation. It served as a redemption after weeks being at lower places.

With all the performances from last night here’s my personal ranking:

    1. Denise Laurel

    2. KZ Tandingan

    3. Kean Cipriano

    4. Eric Nicolas

    5. Michael Pangilinan

    6. Kakai Bautista

    7. Sam Concepcion

    8. Myrtle Sarosa

The judges already gave their rankings and the result was:

    1. KZ Tandingan

    2. Denise Laurel

    3. Kean Cipriano

    4. Michael Pangilinan

    5. Eric Nicolas

    6. Sam Concepcion

    7. Kakai Bautista

    8. Myrtle Sarosa

The reason why I picked Denise over KZ was Ne-Yo is more difficult to impersonate and it’s difficult for a girl who’s very feminine then sing and dance like a man. KZ’s performance though is superb.

Next week was expected to be another great episode/s. The icons the 8 artists are going to impersonate was finally revealed. However, Melai Cantiveros’ impersonation is not revealed for everybody to look forward to.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 3, 2015

It’s Saturday night! For me, it means the time to watch my Saturday night habit and I know many Filipinos do with this top-rating program, Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2.

Tonight, five artists did the challenge again and performed impersonating five icons assigned to them. To start the show, one of the most anticipated every week was Melai Cantiveros’ impersonation. This week, she impersonated Philippines’ King of Talk, Boy Abunda. She should have done it last week when Abunda was a guest judge.

The first performer this week was Eric Nicolas as rapper Pitbull. He looks exactly like Pitbull and he did very well with rapping. He admitted he don’t really rap but he did a good try. The voice was quite raspy but it’s still a good performance.

Denise Laurel had a great performance tonight. She looks exactly like R&B singer Ne-Yo with the sonb closer. She sang it well despite the difficulty for a woman to sing like a man. The movements of Ne-Yo was also done well. One thing I just noticed negatively. The suit looks big for her. However, I think Denise had the best performance for tonight.

After being at the top 2 for three weeks, it seems Sam Concepcion would be out from that position this week. He did good copying Rey Valera but not the best.

Comedian Kakai Bautista went OPM through Donna Cruz impersonation. The face doesn’t look Donna but the voice and dance moves was spot on.

Tonight’s last performer was Myrtle Sarosa as the iconic Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe. She did good but her movements were quite limited and without grace. The voice needs a little higher to sound Marilyn. The looks was superb and she looked very beautiful. Among all the judges’ comments, I agree the most with Jed Madela.

With all the performances, check my ranking for tonight:

    1. Denise Laurel

    2. Eric Nicolas

    3. Kakai Bautista

    4. Sam Concepcion

    5. Myrtle Sarosa

The winner for this week will be announced tomorrow after the three performances of remaining artists.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 September 27, 2015

It’s Sunday night and the winner for this week in Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 was already announced. Last night has been a great episode, with good and not-so-good performances. The five performers last night were KZ Tandingan as Bob Marley, Michael Pangilinan as Nick Jonas, Myrtle Sarosa as Armida Siguion Reyna, Kakai Bautista as Sheena Easton and Eric Nicolas as Bayani Agbayani.

Tonight, three artists performed which was started by Sam Concepcion who had the most difficult impersonation for the week as Janet Jackson. For a guy who will sing like a man and at the same time dance like a woman, that was very difficult. Good thing the old Janet Jackson did masculine dance moves unlike the latest when she went sensual. Among all the performances this week, he’s the best.

Denise Laurel performed as Alicia Keys with “Girl on Fire”. It was a good performance despite ¬†Alicia Keys was known without too much movements. It also shown Denise’s musical talent.

The last performance has been Kean Cipriano who impersonated Philippines’ King of Movies, the late Fernando Poe, Jr. It turned out as a tribute which can be respected despite a so-so performance.

My rank based on the performances of the artists were:

    1. Sam Concepcion

    2. Michael Pangilinan

    3. Denise Laurel

    4. Kakai Bautista

    5. Kean Cipriano

    6. Myrtle Sarosa

    7. Eric Nicolas

    8. KZ Tandingan

With the judges ranking the artists, I disagree with Sharon Cuneta with ranking the first place, but the remaining was fine. Boy Abunda did the right ranking while Gary Valenciano has always been messed up in giving his ranking, though his top position is okay.

Based on the judges and the artists choices, the results were:

    1. Kean Cipriano

    2. Sam Concepcion

    3. Michael Pangilinan

    4. Denise Laurel

    5. Kakai Bautista

    6. Eric Nicolas

    7. Myrtle Sarosa

    8. KZ Tandingan

It was already announced who the artists are going to impersonate. It was surely another fun episode next week and let’s see who will Melai going to impersonate.

Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 airs on Saturday night after MMK and Sunday night after Rated K on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 September 20, 2015

The recap for Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 continues tonight. Last night, five artists performed and impersonated 5 icons, Kean Cipriano as Randy Santiago, Myrtle Sarosa as Jessa Zaragosa, Denise Laurel as Christina Aguilera, Michael Pangilinan as Janno Gibbs and Eric Nicolas as Louis Armstrong.

Tonight, three artists performed which started with Sam Concepcion who impersonated R&B singer Jason Derulo with the worldwide hit “Talk Dirty”. He really nailed the performance, from Derulo’s dance moves to his looks. It was great to start tonight’s episode.

The next performer has been KZ Tandingan doing pop rock singer P!nk. It was a decent performance, though knowing P!nk as an exceptional singer who is very rare, is hard to imitate.

The last performer was comedian, singer and theater actress Kakai Bautista who impersonated Comedian Ai-Ai Delas Alas, who was difficult to copy as the judges commented.

If I am going to rank the 8 artists, it would be:

    1. Sam Concepcion

    – he perfected copying Jason Derulo and I question Gary Valenciano’s judgement. For just missed few words, it affected the ranking.

    2. Kean Cipriano

    – it was another perfect performance. It’s just that what Sam did is more difficult.

    3. Eric Nicolas

    – he portrayed Louis Armstrong well, but I don’t think the vocals was perfect. Honestly, the way he sang it bothered me.

    4. Denise Laurel

    – it may not be perfect but the looks is excellent. Vocally, Christina’s vocal gymnastics is extremely difficult to copy and it’s still a decent performance.

    5. Michael Pangilinan

-vocals was perfect but I am not convinced with the looks.

    6. Myrtle Sarosa

    – her looks is way more like Alex Gonzaga but she sang it well.

    7. KZ Tandingan

    – it was a modest performance. I am a fan of KZ’s artistry but not yet convinced with impersonation.

    8. Kakai Bautista

    – I have high hopes in her but the performance, I think, is a failure.

That’s just my ranking it doesn’t count. The final rankings were:

    1. San Concepcion

    2. Michael Pangilinan

    3. Kean Cipriano

    4. Eric Nicolas

    5. Myrtle Sarosa

    6. KZ Tandingan

    7. Denise Laurel

    8. Kakai Bautista

Next week will be another interesting episode and expect intense performances from the 8 artists.
