Matchbox 20- Yourself or Someone Like You: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Matchbox 20- Yourself of Someone Like You
United States- Matchbox 20 is one of the biggest bands of their time through the album “Yourself or Someone Like You” which has gone an impressive 12x platinum awarded by RIAA. The group had wonderful hits too. Take note that the list here was based from Hot 100 Airplay as not making it to the Billboard Hot 100 because of rules before that no physical singles will not be eligible for the charts. However, the songs listed which made to the top 10 has been remarkable.
Push- #5
3 a.m.- #3
Two songs really made a mark which were their first two singles “Push” and “3 a.m.”. Two singles made it to the Billboard Hot 100 such as “Real World” which peaked at number 38 and “Back 2 Good” at number 24. The band did great though in rock music charts.

United Kingdom- Matchbox 20 had released at least three singles in United Kingdom. However, no singles ever made it to the top 10. UK is not just a main territory for them due to lukewarm reception for them. However, “Push” made it to the top 40 at number 38. It was followed by number 64-peaking “3 a.m.” and the last one “Real World” only at number 119.

Since Matchbox 20 did very well in US with “Push” and “3a.m.”, I am choosing between the two. I ended up choosing “Push” because I found more melodic. Also, it is a bigger hit internationally as it was a hit also in Asian countries which included Philippines. Do enjoy the emotional rock song below and also listen to Rob Thomas’ great vocals:

Push (Chorus)
I wanna push you around, well I will, I will
I wanna push you down, well I will, I will
I wanna take you for granted, I wanna take you for granted
Well I will

Fergie- The Dutchess: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Fergie- The Dutchess
United States- Fergie’s first ever solo album did great after reaching 3x platinum mark by RIAA. It released fibe official singles and she successfully achieved something which she haven’t when she was with her group Black Eyed Peas. She had lots of top 10 songs which you can see below:
London Bridge- #1
Fergalicious- #2
Glamorous- #1
Big Girls Don’t Cry- #1
Clumsy- #5
It shows that all five official singles from Fergie’s solo albums “The Dutchess” has made it to the top 10, likewise, the top 5. She has scored five number 1 hits which started with hip-hop hits “London Bridge” and “Glamorous, and the pop hit “Big Girls Don’t Cry”. She has scored high number 2 position with the supersonic inspired “Fergalicious”, and the love track “Clumsy”.

United Kingdom- Fergie may had achieved success in the US but she also did in United Kingdom, though not to the same level. “The Dutchess” album was certified by BPI with platinum. She also hit the top 10 more than one single:
London Bridge- #3
Glamorous- #6
Bug Girls Don’t Cry- #2
Fergie had three of her singles enter the high top 10 mark. Her biggest hit was the guitar driven “Big Girls Don’t Cry” at number 2, which was even certified with Gold Record. “London Bridge” was the second highest charting song at number 3, then “Glamorous” at number 6. Her two singles “Fergalicious” and “Clumsy” peaked at lower positions.

Fergie’s biggest hit anywhere was “Big Girls Don’t Cry” which went to number 1 in Unuted States and number 2 in United Kingdom. It also brings out a good message and out from the theme of her other songs. Enjoy the music as I share it below:

Big Girls Don’t Cry
I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It’s personal, myself and I
We’ve got some straightenin’ out to do
And I’m gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I’ve got to get a move on with my life
It’s time to be a big girl now
And big girls don’t cry
Don’t cry
Don’t cry
Don’t cry

Savage Garden- Affirmation: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Savage Garden- Affirmation
United States- Savage Garden had two top 10 hits from their self-titled debut album. Their second album was “Affirmation” and had three singles in the country which charted. Check what song/s which went to top 10 from Affirmation:
I Knew I Loved You- #1
Unlike the duo’s debut album, Savage Garden only scored one top 10 hit from “Affirmation” which was “I Knew I Love You”. However, that song went to number 1, their second and last of their entire career. “The Animal Song” which was a soundtrack single and included in “Affirmation” reached number 19, while “Crash and Burn” peaked at number 24.

United Kingdom- Savage Garden achieved success from their second album “Affirmation” in United Kingdom too. They had a total of six songs released from the album, and all those songs charted. Not all of those singles went to top 10, so check what song/s did so:
I Knew I Love You- #10
Affirmation-#8
Only two singles from their six reached the top 10. The highest peak was “Affirmation” (the single) sitting at number 8. “I Knew I Love You” which was the biggest hit from them elsewhere only peaked at the bottom 10. Their other singles went to top 20 such as “Crash and Burn” which reached number 14, “The Animal Song” and “Hold Me” at number 16. “The Best Thing” was the lowest charter when it peaked at number 35.

The most successful single from “Affirmation” has been “I Knew I Love You” as it reached number 1 in the US and top 10 in UK. The beautiful love song is what I am sharing now. Go down and enjoy the song.

I Knew I Love You (Chorus)
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

Gwen Stefani- Love. Angel. Music. Baby.: Top 10 Singles in UK and US / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Gwen Stefani- Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
United States- Gwen Stefani’s first effort was a success in United States too. Her album “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” has been a successful record for reaching 4x platinum mark awarded by RIAA. The album had six official singles in the country, but see what are those top 10 hits:
Rich Girl- #7
Hollaback Girl- #1
Gwen Stefani got two from her six singles to reach the top 10. She even got a number 1 hit with “Hollaback Girl” and number 7 with reggae infused “Rich Girl”. Despite only scoring two top 10 hits, she still achieved success from the singles “What You Waiting For?” at number 47, “Cool” at number 13, “Luxurious” at number 21, and “Crash” at number 49.

United Kingdom- Gwen Stefani was also successful with her debut solo “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” in United Kingdom for going 3x platinum as certified by BPI. The album released five singles with three of them going to top 10 as listed below:
What You Waiting For?- #4
Rich Girl- #4
Hollaback Girl- #8
Three singles off “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” were top 10 hits. Two songs reached number 4 with “What You Waiting For?” and followed by “Rich Girl”. The hip-hop track “Hollaback Girl” hit number 8.

The songs I had chosen to share was “Rich Girl” despite the negative reviews. Views on the song varies and I sensed something positive on it. Also, “Hollaback Girl” is somewhat non-sense for me, though I think it is the catchiest. Check that hit song below:

Rich Girl
All the riches baby, won’t mean anything
All the riches baby, bring what your love can bring
All the riches baby, won’t mean anything
Don’t need no other baby
Your lovin’ is better than gold and I know
If I was rich girl (na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na nah)
See, I’d have all the money in the world, if I was a wealthy girl
No man could test me, impress me, my cash flow would never ever end
Cause I’d have all the money in the world, if I was a wealthy girl

Boyzone- By Request / Back Again… No Matter What / Brother: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Boyzone- By Request (compilation album)
United States- Boyzone haven’t had a top 10 single from the album. Those singles were not released so they were not eligible to chart.

United Kingdom- Boyzone again has proven something with their chart power in the country. Four singles were released though, the other two singles were just included in the compilation album in some countries. Check what singles made to the top 10:
When the Going Gets Tough-#1
You Needed Me- #1
When You Say Nothing At All (Ronan Keating song)- #1
Everyday I Love You- #3
Four singles from the album again made it to the top 10. Though “When You Say Nothing At All” was sang solely by Ronan Keating, it was counted since it was included on the Boyzone album. Aside from that song as a number 1 hit, they topped the charts with the remakes of “When the Going Gets Tough” and “You Needed Me”. In total, the guys totaled 17 top 10 hits and 7 number 1 hits after this album.

The first three singles were remakes and what I am sharing is the original song “Everyday I Love You”. Check and enjoy the song below as shared:

Everyday I Love You (Chorus)
Cos I believe that destiny
Is out of our control (don’t you know that I do)
And you’ll never live until you love
With all your heart and soul.

Boyzone- Back Again… No Matter What (compilation album)
United States- This compilation album by Boyzone didn’t manage to be released in the country and no singles were released and even charted.

United Kingdom- Boyzone scored two singles from the album. But only one single managed to access the top 10. See that song:
Love You Anyway- #5
“Love You Anyway” is the comeback single by the guys and made it to the top 10. It was considered their 18th to do so.

Since only one single charted inside the top 10, I would be sharing that only song which is “Love You Anyway”.

Love You Anyway (Chorus)
It’s unbelievably hard to love you,
But I love you anyway.
I’ve been trying too hard not to love you,
But I love you anyway.

Boyzone- Brother
United States- This album remained unreleased in the US, so no further singles were released.

United Kingdom- Boyzone was able to score another hit single in this album. Two singles were released but check below what made it to the top 10.
Gave It All Away-#9
Boyzone apparently scored another top 10 single from the album which was “Gave It All Away” at number 9. It was their 19th ever to do so.

“Gave It All Away” was able to reach the top 10, check the song below as I am sharing it:

Gave It All Away (Chorus)
why hy hy I lay my heart down on the floor
I showed you love, you wanted more re re
but I gave it all away (cry ry ry ry cry ry ry ry)

Nelly Furtado- Loose: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Nelly Furtado- Loose
United States- Nelly Furtado changed her musical direction via “Loose” which gave her a bigger success and achieved something she never did before. The album became her first (and also the last) album from hed which went to number 1. It was awarded with 2x platinum by RIAA. She also achieved successes with her singles from the record. Check her top 10 songs from the album:
Promiscuous (ft. Timbaland)- #1
Say It Right- #1
It is clear that Nelly Furtado achieved not just top 10 hits, rather number 1 single, not just one but two. Those singles were “Promiscuous” and “Say It Right”, which both were assisted by Timbaland. The two singles were even awarded with 3x platinum. She also charted at number 16 with “Maneater”, number 86 with “All Good Things (Come to an End)”, and “Do It” at number 88.

United Kingdom- Nelly Furtado’s “Loose” had some achievement in United Kingdom too. Aside from 3x platinum award by BPI for the album, she had hit singles from it. Here are those hits:
Promiscuous (ft. Timbaland)- #3
Maneater- #1
Say It Right- #10
All Good Things (Come to an End)- #4
Nelly Furtado scored at least a total of four top 10 singles in the UK. she scored her first ever number 1 single with “Maneater”. She got high chart peak with “Promiscuous”, a song with Timbaland” at number 3, and “All Good Things (Come to an End)” at number 4. While “Say It Right” settled at 10th. Her song “Do It” only peaked at number 75.

Nelly Furtado’s biggest hit in the United States has been “Promiscuous”, while it was “Maneater” in United Kingdom when they reached number 1. But I am sharing the UK number 4 hit “All Good Things (Come to an End)” because it is my favorite from the album, and it is a good song.

All Good Things (Come to an End) (Chorus)
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Westlife: The Love Album / Back Home / Where We Are: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Westlife- The Love Album
United States- This album was not released in the US and no singles were also heard there.

United Kingdom- Westlife released this album with cover songs “The Love Album”. Only one single was released from the album. Check below what it is:
The Rose- #1
Westlife at least reached number 1 with that only single released. It was the Bette Midler original “The Rose”. It became their 15th number 1 single in the country.

Since there’s only one single from the album and in fact, a covers album, I will share the song along with lines from it and check it below:

The Rose
It’s the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It’s the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance

Westlife- Back Home
United States- It seems the guys gave up breaking the American market and this album and no singles were released from it.

United Kingdom- Westlife released two singles from the album and continued to score a string of top 10 hits. Check what those songs were:
Home- #3
Us Against the World- #8
Westlife scored another two top 10 hits this time. It added to their string of top 10 hits which already totalled to 23 including the two songs from the album. “Home”, a Michael Buble original, was the biggest hit at number 3.

The single “Home” peaked at 3rd so it’s the most successful single from the album, but what I am sharing is “Us Against the World” being an original song.

Us Against the World (Chorus)
Cause it’s us against the world
You and me against them all
If you listen to these words
Know that we are standing tall
I don’t ever see the day that
I won’t catch you when you fall
Cause it’s us against the world tonight

Westlife- Where We Are
United States- Westlife didn’t mind releasing the album in America and singles wasn’t released there.

United Kingdom- Westlife released just one single from the album again. Still, it managed to reach the top 10. Check that song below:
What About Now- #2
When the song reached the number 2, Westlife scored their 24th top 10 hit. It is one spot short to number 1, and if it did, it should have been their 16th, but it failed to do so. “What About Now” was first recorded by American band Daughtry.

Since “What About Now” was the onpy single released from the album, I am sharing that song below:

What About Now (Chorus)
What about now? What about today?
What if you’re making me all that I was meant to be?
What if our love never went away?
What if it’s lost behind words we could never find?
Baby, before it’s too late, what about now?

Take That- Everything Changes: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Take That- Everything Changes
United States- Take That haven’t able to break the American market with this album and unable to score a top 10 hit. But they were on track to release their records at that time.

United Kingdom- After scoring three top 10 singles from their album “Take That and Party”, the lads released this second album which gave the guys a lot of hits. Six singles were released from “Everything Changes” but let’s see which ones reached the top 10:
Why Can’t I Wake Up with You- #2
Pray- #1
Relight My Fire (ft. Lulu)- #1
Babe- #1
Everything Changes- #1
Love Ain’t Here Anymore- #3
All of Take That’s singles from “Everything Changes” went to top 3 not just the top 10. What’s more surprising with the guys is four songs went to number 1. It started with the upbeat song “Pray”, followed by the remake track “Relight My Fire” which featured Lulu, “Babe”, and the title track “Everything Changes”. Their first single for the album “Why Can’t I Wake Up with You” is an uptempo track peaked at number 2, while the ballad “Love Ain’t Here Anymore” stayed at number 3. They were among few artists to score six singles in an album. They had a total of nine top 10 hits after this album., and they were top boyband in the country at that time.

Since Take That had four number 1 singles from the album, I would be choosing one song from those our tracks. The biggest seller from the album has been “Babe”, as it went platinum in UK as reported by BPI. Other number 1 songs failed to reach that feat, but still received certifications. Now, check the song “Babe” below:

Babe (Chorus)
Babe I’m here again, I tell you I’m here again
Where have you been?
Babe, I’m back again, I tell you I’m back again
Where have you been?

Dido- Life for Rent: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Dido- Life for Rent
United States- Dido again released her second album “Life for Rent” in the US. The album peaked higher at number 2 and was certified by RIAA with 2x platinum. The album released a number of singles, nevertheless, the singles never reached the top 10. She only had one single from the album to chart at the Hot 100. That song was “White Flag” which peaked at number 18, also a hit in a number of component charts.

United Kingdom- Dido’s second album was a record breaker in United Kingdom for being one of the fastest selling albums there. Aside from being a chart-topping album, it was even awarded by BPI with 9x platinum. The album had hit singles too. Check those songs below:
White Flag- #2
Life for Rent- #8
Clearly, Dido managed two singles to reach the top 10. First waz the carrier single “White Flag” for reaching the second spot. It became her biggest hit ever in the country which was awarded with Gold Record. Her second single from the record “Life for Rent” had went to number 8. She had two other singles which charted. The first one was “Don’t Leave Home” which sat at number 25, and it was followed by “Sand in My Shoes” at number 29.

Dido’s biggest hit in the United States has been “White Flag” which was the only single from the album thay charted. In Unite Kingdom, that song was also her biggest hit song for peaking at 2nd spot. That’s why I am sharing that song below. Not just it’s a big hit, rather a beautiful song too:

White Flag (Chorus)
But I will go down with this ship
And I won’t put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I’m in love and always will be

Westlife- Turnaround / Face to Face: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Westlife- Turnaround
United States- Westlife’s last album witb Bryn McFadden was not released in America again, thus, failure to score a top 10 hit for the album.

United Kingdom- Westlife came back in this album after their greatest hit album “Unbreakable: The Greatest Hits Volume 1”. Three singles were officially released from the album and check their top 10 hits in United Kingdom:
Hey Whatever- #4
Mandy- #1
Obvious- #3
All the three singles from the album went to the top 10 again. With all the singles released from this album, they accumulated a total of 17 top 10 hits. Number 1 hits stand to total of 13. “Mandy” became the number 1 single off the album.

The biggest hit from the album was “Mandy” which became very popular through Barry Manilow. I chose the number 3 hit “Obvious” to share not just because it is an original song, rather, it is also a great ballad. Check the song below:

Obvious (Chorus)
I’ve made it obvious
Done everything but sing it
(I’ve crushed on you so long, but on and on you get me wrong)
I’m not so good with words
And since you never notice
The way that we belong
I’ll say it in a love song

Westlife- Face to Face
United States- The album had a song which featured an American singer, but it’s not enough for them to score a top 10 hit.

United Kingdom- Westlife released three singles off “Face to Face”. They scored hit songs again from the album and check their top 10 hits:
You Raised Me Up- #1
When You Tell Me That You Love Me (with Diana Ross)- #3
Amazing- #4
Westlife scored their 14th number 1 hit through the Josh Groban original “You Raised Me Up”. With total of top 10 hits in UK, Westlife already had total of 20 through the singles from this album.

The guys’ number 1 single from the album was “You Raised Me Up”. However, I am sharing “Amazing” as it is an original song.

Amazing (Chorus)
And all I’ve been doing is protecting
A lie for the sake of my pride
While all the others set me thinking
we could be more than just amazing
