Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 (December 5, 2015)

The competition is going intense likewise the performances is getting harder for the celebrity impersonators. Tonight has been an interesting episode. When I first heard about the celebs doing a duet with themselves, I thought they will perform like doble-kara (double face). But when I watched all the performances tonight, I was in awe. I think the other artist was first recorded while the other artist they impersonated was the main one.

To start the show, Melai Cantiveros came back as Miley Cyrus, the impersonation that had her won during the first season.

Here are the performances of the celebrity impersonators:

KZ Tandingan as Liza Minelli and Luciano Pavarotti
“New York, New York”
The performance was amazing. She sang very well as Liza but we cannot expect a perfect Pavarotti as she was female. As Liza, she is very comfortable and enjoyed the performance. Her vocals as Liza is even perfect.

Michael Pangilinan as Sam Smith and John Legend
“Lay Me Down”
Among all the performances tonight, this is, for me, is the perfect performance. I mean his voice as Sam Smith and John Legend is perfect. No more words to say about the performance.

Denise Laurel as Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett
“The Lady is a Tramp”
Denise became a jazz singer and she did it perfectly as Lady Gaga. While the Tony Bennett performance is very impressive like how she can sound like that. I saw no pressure in this performance and Denise looked relaxed.

Kakai Bautista as Whitney Houston and Cissy Houston
“I Knew Him So Well”
Kakai did mother and daughter duet as Whitney and Cissy Houston. This can be a difficult performance since it is an emotional song but she did it well. In fact, she sang even better as Cissy.

Kean Cipriano as Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder
“Ebony and Ivory”
I never thought Kean can pull the impersonation so well. Though there are flaws as Stevie Wonder but Paul McCartney was perfect from the looks to his vocals.

Admittedly, it is the episode which I enjoyed all of the performances. Of course, the set-up and idea is good but all of the performers did very well. Even myself, I find it hard to rank them (which will surely make it difficult for the judges to rank them too) but I made the ranking below based on every performances effect on me.
1. Michael Pangilinan
2. Denise Laurel
3. KZ Tandingan
4. Kakai Bautista
5. Kean Cipriano

Since it is the last performances from the celebrities, it is becoming more interesting. With three more performers tomorrow, the top 4 will be announced tomorrow by which next week will be the finale.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs every Saturday and Sunday night on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 (November 28 and 29, 2015)

I have been away last week due to being out of town so I am quite late for this recap. Anyway, to keep up with the episodes, I got to watch online with the performances. It has been an exciting week since the artists are performing with last season’s artists and impersonated duets of some icons.
Here are the performances from last week:

Denise Laurel as Barbra Streissand / Jay-R as Brian Adams
“I Finally Found Someone”
The performance good when it comes to vocals of the pair. The looks were quite good, though Jay-R’s look is more spot-on.

Kean Cipriano as Mick Jagger / Tutti Caringal as David Bowie
“Dancing in the Street”
I enjoyed the performance knowing they are copying the two British rock legends. The make up is perfect while the moves of Jagger is also there.

Eric Nicolas as John Travolta / Melai Cantiveros as Olivia Newton John
“Summer Nights”
It was an entertaining performance since the duo are copying 1970s acts. Thr dancing, moves though lacking in vocals.

Kakai Bautista as Ariana Grande / Maxene Magalona as Iggy Azalea
It seems everybody are doing well and I love this performance too. Knowing the range of Ariana, Kakai hit the notes.

Myrtle Sarosa as Kylie Minogue / Edgar Allan Guzman as Jason Donovan
“Especially for You”
It’s a good performance though the vocals isn’t exactly how it is. The appearance isn’t perfect too.

Sam Concepcion as Andrea Bocelli / Jolina Magdangal as Celine Dion
“The Prayer”
The performance is moving as Sam really did well copying Andrea’s voice. I think this is the best performance for the week knowing Sam as a pop and R&B singer and he did it perFectly.

Michael Pangilinan as Luther Vandross / Karla Estrada as Mariah Carey
“Endless Love”
Michael really did well copying Luther’s voice knowing his voice is far from Vandross. Karla did a good supporting as well.

Kz Tandingan as Shakira / Nyoy Volante as Beyonce
“Beautiful Liar”
It’s an enjoyable performance as KZ perfectly copied Shakira’s vocals. With regards to the moves, it was fine. Shakira didn’t move much in the music video unlike in her own videos.

The results below
1. Sam Concepcion
2. Denise Laurel
3. Kean Cipriano
4. Michael Pangilinan
5. Kakai Bautista
6. KZ Tandingan
7. Eric Nicolas (tie)
8. Myrtle Sarosa (tie)

Congratulations to Sam Concepcion as he really deserved it with his moving performance.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday nights.

Recap November 21, 2015: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2

The episode for November 20 of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 has wrapped up again and there were great performances during the episode. As usual, the show was opened by Miss Melai Cantiveros who had imeprsonated the legendary Filipino rock icon, Pepe Smith. Looking back during season 1, the first winner was Jay-R who impersonated Pepe Smith too and guess what? They looked alike too. The prosthetics were excellent. Melai never failed to amuse the audience with her hilarious antics. Especially after the performance of one of the artists with Pepe’s former bandmate Mike Hanopol.

It was another special episode as the artists impersonates and duets with Fipino band vocalists.

Now, here are the performances for that night’s episode:

Kakai Bautista as (and duet with) Teddy Jugueta of Itchyworms
Kakai impersonated Itchyworms vocalist and It’s Showtime host Teddy Jugueta. The looks was okay though not totally convincing due to the height, which they cannot do anything with that. The voice may have been hard to copy and with the performance, Kakai’s voice is distinct.

Sam Concepcion as (and duet with) Mike Hanopol of Juan Dela Cruz Band
Sam Concepcion is a rock star this time as rock legend Mike Hanopol of Juan Dela Cruz Band. The looks is perfect as well as the entire performance. Sam might get a good spot this time.

KZ Tandingan as (and duet with) Yael Yuzon of Sponge Cola
KZ seems she can do anything as she became a male rock star this time as Yael Yuzon of the band Sponge Cola. I was not convinced with her looks but the performance was still good.

Myrtle Sarosa as (and duet with) Cookie Chua of Color It Red
Myrtle toned down singing a ballad with Cookie Chua, whom she is impersonating. The looks was a so-so but there are some instances when her voice is a spot on.

Eric Nicolas as (and duet with) Heber Bartolome of Banyuhay ni Heber
Eric becomes patriotic as singing a patriotic song by Heber Bartolome. The looks was very good though singing seems comedic, by which I disagree with the judges.

With five of the artists performed tonight, here’s my ranking:
1. Sam Concepcion
2. Myrtle Sarosa
3. KZ Tandingan
4. Kakai Bautista
5. Eric Nicolas

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs every Saturday and Sunday night on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 November 8, 2015

The second episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 this week had just ended and the winner this week was finally annannounce. Last night, five artists already performed with three more remaining artists who had shown their impersonation tonight.

Kean Cipriano as Robi Rosa of Menudo
For the second time, Kean became another member of a boyband. The first one was when he portrayed Harry Styles of British and Irish boyband One Direction. This week, he impersonated Latin boyband Menudo member Robi Rosa. The performance is just light and the movements and dances was good. However, the voice isnnot perfect and the looks was like Indian version of Robi Rosa.

Michael Pangilinan as Bono of U2
Micharl became the vocalist of the biggest Irish band ever, U2. He sang the signature hit of U2 which is “With or Without You”, which he surprisingly sang it well. It doesn’t matter if the looks is not the same but the singing is for me, perfect.

Eric Nicolas as Jet Pangan of The Dawn
Eric is a rock star tonight as he copied Filipino rock icon and vocalist of The Dawn, Jet Pangan. His voice hit the spot the movements isn’t Jet Pangan. His looks bothered me too as he looks like Willie Revillame. I still find it a great performance though.

Now that all of the artists already performed, I made my list with ranking of all the performers.
1. Myrtle Sarosa
2. Michael Pangilinan
3. KZ Tandingan
4. Kakai Bautista
5. Denise Laurel
6. Kean Cipriano
7. Eric Nicolas
8. Sam Concepcion

Based on the judges votes and all the artists’ votes, here’s the final result for this week.
1. Michael Pangilinan
2. KZ Tandingan
3. Myrtle Sarosa
4. Kakai Bautista
5. Kean Cipriano
6. Denise Laurel
7. Sam Concepcion
8. Eric Nicolas
Congrats to Michael for winning this weeks’s episode. It seems next weelk would be fun and entertaining too.

You Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on Saturdays and Sundays on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 November 7, 2015

A usual Saturday for me since tonight airs another episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2. The show just camera quite late due to the finale episodes of Pinoy Big Brother and that the grand winners were already announced.

The show started with the impersonation of Melai Cantiveros as actres, formerly recording artist and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos. Everybody laughed as she’s entered. She’s always nailing it doing her impersonation.

Here are the five performers tonight:

Denise Laurel as Gloria Estefan
Denise had gone Latina tonight as the Queen of Latin Music Gloria Estefan. The song “Conga” was quite difficult to sing due to its fast paced chorus. She did a good job but it’s quite obvious that she is trying to chase the music which she came first before she should. The look though was perfect even just make up without prosthetics. I still find it a fun performance especially in stanzas and the way she duplicated Gloria’s moves.

KZ Tandingan asTina Turner
It maybe the second time that Tina Turner was impersonated but with different songs. During the first season, Nyoy Volante copied her with the song “Proud Mary” while this time, KZ sang “What’s Love Got to Do With It”. The performance was great from vocals to gestures and facial expressions. The performance ended up with standing ovation from Jed Madela and Sharon Cuneta.

Myrtle Sarosa as Britney Spears
Myrtle turned into the pop princess then, Britney Spears. She sang and danced “I’m a Slave for You” , which she performed pretty well from her voice, choreography and with that snake stuff which Britney did during the VMA’s. Even Britney fans will surely like the performance.

Sam Concepcion as Mandy Moore
Sam again became a woman as young singer then Mandy Moore. It was good but not as I expected. He did very well when he became Janet Jackson but this performance was quite mediocre. The makeup to her eyes is also lacking, as well as her lips which is one of her identifying marks.

Kakai Bautista as Eva Eugenio
After doing well last week as Eva Eugenio, Kakai turned into jukebox singer Eva Eugenio. It seems she is doing consitently as she almost duplicated Eva Eugenio from vocals to her looks.

My rankind for tonight’s perfornances were:
1. Myrtle Sarosa
2. KZ Tandingan
3. Kakai Bautista
4. Denise Laurel
5. Sam Concepcion

Three more artists will perform tomorrow as well as the winner this week.

Your Face Sounds Famiiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 31, 2015

Time for the recap of tonight’s episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2. Since it’s October 31, the episode is actually the Halloween special of the show and to start the show, a creepy creature came out of the iconator. It’s Chucky, the killing doll. It’s the impersonation of the ever-funny Melai Cantiveros. In fairness, she looks very creepy and every time she was focused on the frame, it creeps me up. Tonight, there were five performers again and they were below.

Kakai Bautista as Jennifer Holiday
Kakai started the show with a bang as the iconic performer of “Dreamgirls” musical, Jennifer Holiday. Initially, I thought she may pull it through knowing the song “And I Am Telling You” requires a very strong throat and she did it. Even the looks is close to perfection. The two judges, Sharon Cuneta and Jed Madela, eventually gave her a standing ovation while Gary Valenciano had his hands down in owe.

Eric Nicolas as Claire dela Fuente
Eric went female and jukebox queen as he impersonated Jukebox Queen Claire dela Fuente. The looks is perfect and his movements are really Claire. The voice really equated Claire’s voice. Eric really did a great job again.

Michael Pangilinan as Haji Alejandro
Michael impersonated Pinoy singer Haji Alejandro tonight. He did well in the performance but there’s lacking substance and with the judging, I agree with all they said. One of Haji’s identifying mark is his distinct vibrato which was shorted in Michael’s performance.

Myrtle Sarosa as Kuh Ledesma
Myrtle becomes a diva as she did her take as Kuh Ledesma. I think it’s her best performance since the recent episodes. The gestures was done well and the voice was really comparable to Kuh.

Kean Cipriano as Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Kean returned to his roots as rock star through impersonating Anthony Kiedis of hit rock band Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The judges are all praises for the performance but there’s lacking in copying Anthony’s voice. The looks is even far from Anthony’s, though the movements are perfect.

So far, tonight’s episode is a blast after starting with a bang. My ranking for tonight’s performances were:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. Eric Nicolas
3. Myrtle Sarosa
4. Kean Cipriano
5. Michael Pangilinan

Meanwhile, three more artists will perform and the announcement o winners will be tomorrow.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 24, 2015

After a week of failing to watch last week’s episode due to strong typhoon, I am back to writing the recap for this week. I may be writing about last week after streaming. Anyway, tonight may be another great episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2.

To start the show, of course, Melai Cantiveros is back for her weekly impersonation. This week, she’s the ABS-CBN News reporter Doris Bigornia. Funny how she stole the beginning of the show from host Billy Crawford.

Here are the five performers for tonight’s episode:
Kean Cipriano as Jose Mari Chan
Kean turned into a balladeer as he acted as iconic Filipino balladeer Jose Mari Chan. He sang one of Chan’s signature song “Beautiful Girl” which even had 3 beauty queens onstage: MJ Lastimosa, Bea Rose Santiago, and Mutya Datul. His look slightly looked like Chan while the singing was done lower than Chan’s voice.

Myrtle Sarosa as Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls
Myrtle went sexy this time as Nicole Scherzinger of girl group Pussycat Dolls. The performance is good, and I think she needs more moves. So far, she copied Nicole too close.

KZ Tandingan as Lolita Carbon
KZ went folk rock as Lolita Carbon singing a very iconic OPM song “Himig ng Pag-Ibig”. It is very close and the voice is very soothing. Though Lolita’s voice is slightly pitchy than KZ, it is still a very good performance.

Michael Pangilinan as Tracy Chapman
Michael turned into a female singer tonight as folk pop singer Tracy Chapman. It wouldn’t be that hard to act as Tracy since Tracy is quite musculine. By the way her voice is very distinct and it can be understood if Michael do not exactly copied Tracy’s vocals.

Denise Laurel as Jed Madela
Denise had the most difficult task as she is assigned to do Jed Madela, who is one of the judges. It is not exactly Jed but the effort can really be felt. Even the judges gave her a standing ovation.

Tonight’s episode had just wrapped up and the winner will be announced tomorrow after three more performers. By the way I made my own ranking for tonight which was listed below.
1. Denise Laurel
2. KZ Tandingan
3. Myrtle Sarosa
4. Kean Cipriano
5. Michael Pangilinan

Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 airs on Saturdays and Sundays on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 10, 2015

The episode tonight is over and I am giving you the recap of what happened in the show. Who hits, and who misses tonight? Check below:

As usual, Melai Cantiveros has shown his impersonation again. Tonight, she impersonated TV Host Kim Atienza. She nailed Kim’s looks, however, the voice may failed a bit. It is fine since it is the source of laughter in the show.

Kean Cipriano
Kean started the show as Philippines’ Comedy King Dolphy. The prosthetic didn’t meet expectations to completely look like Dolphy. The voice also doesn’t sounds like Dolphy, however, his gestures are perfect.

KZ Tandingan
After winning last week, it seems KZ Tandingan is breaking out with her perfect performance tonight. She impersonated the late Amy Winehouse singing her biggest hit “Rehab”, which she perfectly sang it. The way Amy moves and the looks was excellent. Tonight, I think she is the best performer.

Myrtle Sarosa
Apparently, Myrtle had the most difficult impersonation as she copied a male artist. It’s not an easy job because the song is not in English, not even in Tagalog. She sang in Chinese because she impersonated Taiwanese actor and singer Jerry Yan. The performance and her looks is okay, while the voice is hard to copy since she is a lady.

Michael Pangilinan
Michael often do well in his performances and he did the same tonight. He impersonated Brandon Beal, the guy behind the song “Twerk it Like Miley”. Among all the performers tonight, his looks is the most perfect. There might be lacking with the voice but movements are good.

Kakai Bautista
I think this is the best performance of Kakai since the season started. Her lools doesn’t need prosthetics because she looks exactly like Donna Summer. She sang “Last Dance” very well and hit the high notes. The way Donna dance and moves was well-executed by Kakai.

My top 5 performers for tonight were:
1. KZ Tandingan
2. Kakai Bautista
3. Myrtle Sarosa
4. Michael Pangilinan
5. Kean Cipriano

Announcement for this week’s winner will be announced tomorrow after the three performances of remaining artists.

Your Voice Sounds Familiar 2 is airing every Saturday and Sunday nights on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 3, 2015

It’s Saturday night! For me, it means the time to watch my Saturday night habit and I know many Filipinos do with this top-rating program, Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2.

Tonight, five artists did the challenge again and performed impersonating five icons assigned to them. To start the show, one of the most anticipated every week was Melai Cantiveros’ impersonation. This week, she impersonated Philippines’ King of Talk, Boy Abunda. She should have done it last week when Abunda was a guest judge.

The first performer this week was Eric Nicolas as rapper Pitbull. He looks exactly like Pitbull and he did very well with rapping. He admitted he don’t really rap but he did a good try. The voice was quite raspy but it’s still a good performance.

Denise Laurel had a great performance tonight. She looks exactly like R&B singer Ne-Yo with the sonb closer. She sang it well despite the difficulty for a woman to sing like a man. The movements of Ne-Yo was also done well. One thing I just noticed negatively. The suit looks big for her. However, I think Denise had the best performance for tonight.

After being at the top 2 for three weeks, it seems Sam Concepcion would be out from that position this week. He did good copying Rey Valera but not the best.

Comedian Kakai Bautista went OPM through Donna Cruz impersonation. The face doesn’t look Donna but the voice and dance moves was spot on.

Tonight’s last performer was Myrtle Sarosa as the iconic Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe. She did good but her movements were quite limited and without grace. The voice needs a little higher to sound Marilyn. The looks was superb and she looked very beautiful. Among all the judges’ comments, I agree the most with Jed Madela.

With all the performances, check my ranking for tonight:

1. Denise Laurel

2. Eric Nicolas

3. Kakai Bautista

4. Sam Concepcion

5. Myrtle Sarosa

The winner for this week will be announced tomorrow after the three performances of remaining artists.

Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 currently airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 September 27, 2015

It’s Sunday night and the winner for this week in Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 was already announced. Last night has been a great episode, with good and not-so-good performances. The five performers last night were KZ Tandingan as Bob Marley, Michael Pangilinan as Nick Jonas, Myrtle Sarosa as Armida Siguion Reyna, Kakai Bautista as Sheena Easton and Eric Nicolas as Bayani Agbayani.

Tonight, three artists performed which was started by Sam Concepcion who had the most difficult impersonation for the week as Janet Jackson. For a guy who will sing like a man and at the same time dance like a woman, that was very difficult. Good thing the old Janet Jackson did masculine dance moves unlike the latest when she went sensual. Among all the performances this week, he’s the best.

Denise Laurel performed as Alicia Keys with “Girl on Fire”. It was a good performance despite ¬†Alicia Keys was known without too much movements. It also shown Denise’s musical talent.

The last performance has been Kean Cipriano who impersonated Philippines’ King of Movies, the late Fernando Poe, Jr. It turned out as a tribute which can be respected despite a so-so performance.

My rank based on the performances of the artists were:

1. Sam Concepcion

2. Michael Pangilinan

3. Denise Laurel

4. Kakai Bautista

5. Kean Cipriano

6. Myrtle Sarosa

7. Eric Nicolas

8. KZ Tandingan

With the judges ranking the artists, I disagree with Sharon Cuneta with ranking the first place, but the remaining was fine. Boy Abunda did the right ranking while Gary Valenciano has always been messed up in giving his ranking, though his top position is okay.

Based on the judges and the artists choices, the results were:

1. Kean Cipriano

2. Sam Concepcion

3. Michael Pangilinan

4. Denise Laurel

5. Kakai Bautista

6. Eric Nicolas

7. Myrtle Sarosa

8. KZ Tandingan

It was already announced who the artists are going to impersonate. It was surely another fun episode next week and let’s see who will Melai going to impersonate.

Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 airs on Saturday night after MMK and Sunday night after Rated K on ABS-CBN 2.
