Album’s Singles Review: “Folklore” and by Nelly Furtado

After the success of her album “Whoa Nelly!”, Nelly Furtado released her second album “Folklore“. The album sounds more folk and tribal sounds on it. It was less successful than her debut album only peaking at low position. In United Kingdom, it reached number 11. In United States, it reached the top 40. It was certified Gold in both countries.

Powerless (Say What You Want)
“Powerless (Say What You Want)” was released as the first single for “Folklore”. It has a different sound with tribal music. It reached number 13 in United Kingdom. In US, it failed to chart at the Hot 100 though it was a dance hit there.

“Try” was the second single from Nelly Furtado’s album “Folklore”. It is a pop rock song with folk influences. It reached number 15 in United Kingdom. In United States, “Try” only charted in component charts particularly at Adult top 40.

“Força” has been the third single from “Folklore” by Nelly Furtado. If you are not familiar of the word “Forca”, it is a Portuguese word used in the song. It became an anthem for a football event in Europe. The single did well in European countries. But in United Kingdom, it reached the top 40. It did not chart in America.

“Explode” became the fourth single off the album “Folklore”. It was not released in other countries though. Nelly furtado maintained her folk pop sound in this song. It has been one of the underrated single from the album. It charted mostly in European countries, though failed to reach the top 10.

The Grass Is Green
“The Grass Is Green” was the last single from the album but not released in other countries. It is a great song and one of the best tracks off “Folklore”.
