Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 (December 6, 2015)

It’s the last episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 before the finale next week. Last night, it has been a great episode from five celebrity performers who did very well with their performances. Three remaining celebrities performed tonight and they all did very well too.

Sam Concepcion as Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake
“Love Never Felt So Good”
It might be said that Sam’s style might resemble with the two icons but it is never easy. Dancing like the two icons and singing like them is such a difficult job but Sam did very well again in this performance.

Myrtle Sarosa as Nicki Minaj and Rihanna
“Fly”
For the first time, Myrtle rapped and she did extremely well. She rapped like the rap queen though not too convinced with Rihanna. But Nicki Minaj impersonation is enough for me to say it is a great performance.

Eric Nicolas as Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole
Eric did a decent performance as father and daughter, Nat King and Natalie Cole. The voices are okay, it’s just that the impersonation wasn’t given too much justice.

This week has been the best episodes (with last night) so far from Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2. Every performances were entertaining and exciting.
My top 10 for all the performances:
1. Michael Pangilinan
2. Sam Concepcion
3. Denise Laurel
4. Myrtle Sarosa
5. KZ Tandingan
6. Kakai Bautista
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Eric Nicolas

The results this week:
1. Michael Pangilinan
2. KZ Tandingan
3. Denise Laurel
4. Sam Concepcion
5. Myrtle Sarosa
6. Kakai Bautista
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Eric Nicolas

Since it’s the last episode, the top four would be announced. Nevertheless, there’s a tie so 5 celebrities will be go for the finals. Here are the top 5 celebrities who made to the finals:
Sam Concepcion
Kean Cipriano
KZ Tandingan
Michael Pangilinan (tie)
Denise Laurel (tie)

Congratulations to all who made it to the top 5 and of course to Michael Pangilinan who was this week’s winner.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 Finale will be next Saturday and Sunday night on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 (November 28 and 29, 2015)

I have been away last week due to being out of town so I am quite late for this recap. Anyway, to keep up with the episodes, I got to watch online with the performances. It has been an exciting week since the artists are performing with last season’s artists and impersonated duets of some icons.
Here are the performances from last week:

Denise Laurel as Barbra Streissand / Jay-R as Brian Adams
“I Finally Found Someone”
The performance good when it comes to vocals of the pair. The looks were quite good, though Jay-R’s look is more spot-on.

Kean Cipriano as Mick Jagger / Tutti Caringal as David Bowie
“Dancing in the Street”
I enjoyed the performance knowing they are copying the two British rock legends. The make up is perfect while the moves of Jagger is also there.

Eric Nicolas as John Travolta / Melai Cantiveros as Olivia Newton John
“Summer Nights”
It was an entertaining performance since the duo are copying 1970s acts. Thr dancing, moves though lacking in vocals.

Kakai Bautista as Ariana Grande / Maxene Magalona as Iggy Azalea
“Problem”
It seems everybody are doing well and I love this performance too. Knowing the range of Ariana, Kakai hit the notes.

Myrtle Sarosa as Kylie Minogue / Edgar Allan Guzman as Jason Donovan
“Especially for You”
It’s a good performance though the vocals isn’t exactly how it is. The appearance isn’t perfect too.

Sam Concepcion as Andrea Bocelli / Jolina Magdangal as Celine Dion
“The Prayer”
The performance is moving as Sam really did well copying Andrea’s voice. I think this is the best performance for the week knowing Sam as a pop and R&B singer and he did it perFectly.

Michael Pangilinan as Luther Vandross / Karla Estrada as Mariah Carey
“Endless Love”
Michael really did well copying Luther’s voice knowing his voice is far from Vandross. Karla did a good supporting as well.

Kz Tandingan as Shakira / Nyoy Volante as Beyonce
“Beautiful Liar”
It’s an enjoyable performance as KZ perfectly copied Shakira’s vocals. With regards to the moves, it was fine. Shakira didn’t move much in the music video unlike in her own videos.

The results below
1. Sam Concepcion
2. Denise Laurel
3. Kean Cipriano
4. Michael Pangilinan
5. Kakai Bautista
6. KZ Tandingan
7. Eric Nicolas (tie)
8. Myrtle Sarosa (tie)

Congratulations to Sam Concepcion as he really deserved it with his moving performance.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday nights.

Recap November 22, 2015: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2

The exciting episode continues in Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2. Now that the season is approaching its finale and we will soon see who will win this season, the competition is going intense. To add up to excitement, next week will be great week as the artists fron the first season will join and male a duet with the current season artists. Before going further, here are the performances during Sunday night’s episode.

Kean Cipriano as (and duet with) Joey Ayala of Bagong Lumad
Last week’s winner Kean Cipriano goes folk this week as he was commissioned to impersonate and perform with legendary Filipino folk singer Joey Ayala who was a former member of the band Bagong Lumad. Kean really looks Joey, and the voice was perfect. He deserved the standing ovation given by the three judges.

Michael Pangilinan as (and duet with) Joey Generoso of Side A
Michael does ballad this time and sang one of the most famous Filipino love songs “Forevermore”, which he performed with its lead singer Joey Generoso. There are instances when he got the voices of Joey G. and it is still a great performance. Though, he looks like a member of F4.

Denise Laurel as (and duet with) Jinky Vidal of Freestyle
To end all the performances, Denise performed as and alongside with Freestyle vocalist Jinky Vidal with the love song “So Slow”. It was one of Denise’s great performances.

With all the performances from Saturday, here’s my ranking:
1. Kean Cipriano
2. Sam Concepcion
3. Denise Laurel
4. Myrtle Sarosa
5. Michael Pangilinan
6. KZ Tandingan
7. Kakai Bautista
8. Eric Nicolas

This week’s result was rare as all of the judges decision and ranking is exactly the same. When the artists gave their three points each, it is a quadruple tie with Kean, KZ, Sam and Denise with the same scores. But as per the rules from the franchise, the decision for the winner goes to the judges. Since they have the same rankings, they had chosen Kean to be the winner. However, points are still the same. Here’s the final result:

1. Kean Cipriano (tie)
2. KZ Tandingan (tie)
3. Denise Laurel (tie)
4. Sam Concepcion (tie)
5. Michael Pangilinan
6. Myrtle Sarosa
7. Eric Nicolas
8. Kakai Bautista

Congratulations to Kean for back to back wins. Next week will be a great epeisode as the match up of season 1 and this season’s artists will be held.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 currently airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.

Recap November 21, 2015: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2

The episode for November 20 of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 has wrapped up again and there were great performances during the episode. As usual, the show was opened by Miss Melai Cantiveros who had imeprsonated the legendary Filipino rock icon, Pepe Smith. Looking back during season 1, the first winner was Jay-R who impersonated Pepe Smith too and guess what? They looked alike too. The prosthetics were excellent. Melai never failed to amuse the audience with her hilarious antics. Especially after the performance of one of the artists with Pepe’s former bandmate Mike Hanopol.

It was another special episode as the artists impersonates and duets with Fipino band vocalists.

Now, here are the performances for that night’s episode:

Kakai Bautista as (and duet with) Teddy Jugueta of Itchyworms
Kakai impersonated Itchyworms vocalist and It’s Showtime host Teddy Jugueta. The looks was okay though not totally convincing due to the height, which they cannot do anything with that. The voice may have been hard to copy and with the performance, Kakai’s voice is distinct.

Sam Concepcion as (and duet with) Mike Hanopol of Juan Dela Cruz Band
Sam Concepcion is a rock star this time as rock legend Mike Hanopol of Juan Dela Cruz Band. The looks is perfect as well as the entire performance. Sam might get a good spot this time.

KZ Tandingan as (and duet with) Yael Yuzon of Sponge Cola
KZ seems she can do anything as she became a male rock star this time as Yael Yuzon of the band Sponge Cola. I was not convinced with her looks but the performance was still good.

Myrtle Sarosa as (and duet with) Cookie Chua of Color It Red
Myrtle toned down singing a ballad with Cookie Chua, whom she is impersonating. The looks was a so-so but there are some instances when her voice is a spot on.

Eric Nicolas as (and duet with) Heber Bartolome of Banyuhay ni Heber
Eric becomes patriotic as singing a patriotic song by Heber Bartolome. The looks was very good though singing seems comedic, by which I disagree with the judges.

With five of the artists performed tonight, here’s my ranking:
1. Sam Concepcion
2. Myrtle Sarosa
3. KZ Tandingan
4. Kakai Bautista
5. Eric Nicolas

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs every Saturday and Sunday night on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 November 15, 2015

Disclaimer: Posting was late as it was written while the show was ongoing last night.
The OPM special of Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 continues tonight. Last night, five artists performed namely KZ Tandingan, Myrtle Sarosa, Denise Laurel, San Concepcion and Kean Cipriano. Three artists are performing tonight and will impersonate three OPM icons.

Eric Nicolas as (and duet with) Andrew E
Eric becomes a rapper tonight as Andrew E. Being rapper is very difficult especially if you’re not a rapper, somethinh Eric has tried so hard as he admitted rapping is his weakness. The performance is not perfect but the effort is good. The look didn’t resemble Andrew E and I am not satisfied with it.

Michael Pangilinan as (and duet with) Marco Sison
Michael Pangilinan was being chosen by veteran OPM artist Marco Sison to impersonate him. It’s a decent performance though, I am not that satisfied with the performance. I am still looking for something that can convince me that the impersonation is really comparable to Marco.

Kakai Bautista as (and duet with) Jovit Baldivino
Kakai became a male rocker tonight as PGT winner Jovit Baldivino. It is a tough job to impersonate a guy by a woman especially with that range of voice. The look resembles a bit while the voice was understandabld but she did a good job. Tonight, she is the best performer.

With the episode from last night, I am not that satisfied with the make up and prosthetics. I prefer the regular episodes when they impersonate different kinds of artists.

My ranking for all the performances below:
1. Kean Cipriano
2. Kakai Bautista
3. Eric Nicolas
4. Denise Laurel
5. Myrtle Sarosa
6. KZ Tandingan
7. Sam Concepcion
8. Michael Pangilinan

But here’s the final ranking:
1. Kean Cipriano
2. Eric Nicolas
3. Kakai Bautista
4. KZ Tandingan
5. Denise Laurel
6. Sam Concepcion
7. Michael Pangilinan
8. Myrtle Sarosa

Next week’s episodes will feature Pinoy rock icons as the artists impersonates them.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 November 8, 2015

The second episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 this week had just ended and the winner this week was finally annannounce. Last night, five artists already performed with three more remaining artists who had shown their impersonation tonight.

Kean Cipriano as Robi Rosa of Menudo
For the second time, Kean became another member of a boyband. The first one was when he portrayed Harry Styles of British and Irish boyband One Direction. This week, he impersonated Latin boyband Menudo member Robi Rosa. The performance is just light and the movements and dances was good. However, the voice isnnot perfect and the looks was like Indian version of Robi Rosa.

Michael Pangilinan as Bono of U2
Micharl became the vocalist of the biggest Irish band ever, U2. He sang the signature hit of U2 which is “With or Without You”, which he surprisingly sang it well. It doesn’t matter if the looks is not the same but the singing is for me, perfect.

Eric Nicolas as Jet Pangan of The Dawn
Eric is a rock star tonight as he copied Filipino rock icon and vocalist of The Dawn, Jet Pangan. His voice hit the spot the movements isn’t Jet Pangan. His looks bothered me too as he looks like Willie Revillame. I still find it a great performance though.

Now that all of the artists already performed, I made my list with ranking of all the performers.
1. Myrtle Sarosa
2. Michael Pangilinan
3. KZ Tandingan
4. Kakai Bautista
5. Denise Laurel
6. Kean Cipriano
7. Eric Nicolas
8. Sam Concepcion

Based on the judges votes and all the artists’ votes, here’s the final result for this week.
1. Michael Pangilinan
2. KZ Tandingan
3. Myrtle Sarosa
4. Kakai Bautista
5. Kean Cipriano
6. Denise Laurel
7. Sam Concepcion
8. Eric Nicolas
Congrats to Michael for winning this weeks’s episode. It seems next weelk would be fun and entertaining too.

You Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on Saturdays and Sundays on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 November 1, 2015

After a great episode last night, the fun continues today for three more artists are set to perform again. Yesterday, five artists had shown their impersonation of music icons and most of them hit it, though some had missed.

Tonight’s performers were:

Sam Concepcion as James Reid
After being at the bottom last week, Sam is ready to redeem himself through impersonating a rising pop star and already a huge actor James Reid. It may have helped that Sam and James are best friends but copying someone you’re closed to is not that easy. It shows how Sam nailed the performance. However, James don’t have the identity that really suits a huge pop star except his innocent look which Sam never failed. Voice and movements are really James so it’s a good performance

Denise Laurel as Toni Braxton
She became a guy last week as one of the judges Jed Madela. But this week, she’s the sultry R&B icon Toni Braxton. Denise was obviously discouraged with her performance after missing some words at the beginning which affected her performance. Nevertheless, her looks is good. The voice may not be a spot on but she carried it knowing Toni’s amazing voice is hard to copy

KZ Tandingan as Abra
KZ becomes a man. Not just a man as she did what everybody could not do which is rapping. It can be understood that she doesn’t sound like Abra, but the attitude is very good. I may not be totally impressed with the impersonation but I enjoyed the performance. It reminded me of the time when I was a huge hip-hop fan.

All of the artists had finally performed, and based on their performances, my ranking for their performances were:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. KZ Tandingan
3. Eric Nicolas
4. Sam Concepcion
5. Myrtle Sarosa
6. Denise Laurel
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Michael Pangilinan

The turnout of rankings below:
1. KZ Tandingan
2. Kakai Bautista
3. Kean Cipriano
4. Myrtle Sarosa
5. Eric Nicolas
6. Sam Concepcion
7. Denise Laurel
8. Michael Pangilinan

Kakai and Kean were actually tie with their total points. Next week is expected to be another great episode so I am looking forward for that again.

Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 airs every Saturday and Sunday night on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 31, 2015

Time for the recap of tonight’s episode of Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2. Since it’s October 31, the episode is actually the Halloween special of the show and to start the show, a creepy creature came out of the iconator. It’s Chucky, the killing doll. It’s the impersonation of the ever-funny Melai Cantiveros. In fairness, she looks very creepy and every time she was focused on the frame, it creeps me up. Tonight, there were five performers again and they were below.

Kakai Bautista as Jennifer Holiday
Kakai started the show with a bang as the iconic performer of “Dreamgirls” musical, Jennifer Holiday. Initially, I thought she may pull it through knowing the song “And I Am Telling You” requires a very strong throat and she did it. Even the looks is close to perfection. The two judges, Sharon Cuneta and Jed Madela, eventually gave her a standing ovation while Gary Valenciano had his hands down in owe.

Eric Nicolas as Claire dela Fuente
Eric went female and jukebox queen as he impersonated Jukebox Queen Claire dela Fuente. The looks is perfect and his movements are really Claire. The voice really equated Claire’s voice. Eric really did a great job again.

Michael Pangilinan as Haji Alejandro
Michael impersonated Pinoy singer Haji Alejandro tonight. He did well in the performance but there’s lacking substance and with the judging, I agree with all they said. One of Haji’s identifying mark is his distinct vibrato which was shorted in Michael’s performance.

Myrtle Sarosa as Kuh Ledesma
Myrtle becomes a diva as she did her take as Kuh Ledesma. I think it’s her best performance since the recent episodes. The gestures was done well and the voice was really comparable to Kuh.

Kean Cipriano as Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Kean returned to his roots as rock star through impersonating Anthony Kiedis of hit rock band Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The judges are all praises for the performance but there’s lacking in copying Anthony’s voice. The looks is even far from Anthony’s, though the movements are perfect.

So far, tonight’s episode is a blast after starting with a bang. My ranking for tonight’s performances were:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. Eric Nicolas
3. Myrtle Sarosa
4. Kean Cipriano
5. Michael Pangilinan

Meanwhile, three more artists will perform and the announcement o winners will be tomorrow.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 25, 2015

Fun continues tonight in Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 as three artists will perform tonight. Five artists already performed last night: Kean Cipriano, Myrtle Sarosa, KZ Tandingan, Michael Pangilinan and Denise Laurel. The three performers for tonight were:

Eric Nicolas as Apache Indian
Eric was tonight’s performer and did the fusion of Indian and Jamaican dancehall through the 1993 hit “Boom Shack-a-Lak” from Brit-Indian recording artist Apache Indian. The performance is so far good as Apache Indian is comedic like Eric. The vocals of Apache is husky which Eric has too.

Sam Concepcion as Ogie Alcasid
Sam’s turn to become a balladeer again as songwriter and singer Ogie Alcasid. The performance was very good as he got Ogie’s voice. Again, I disagree with Gary Valenciano’s judging. He often looks at minimal mistake which is just the pronunciation. He doesn’t do that to others who made more distinct mistake. The looks though is not approved for me.

Kakai Bautista as Julie Andrews
Tonight, Kakai did musical as Julie Andrews with her performance from the film with the same title as the song “The Sound of Music”. She received a standing ovation from all of the judges tonight. The voice and her looks are perfect even just when she entered the stage.

This is my personal final rankings for tonight:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. Denise Laurel
3. KZ Tandingan
4. Myrtle Sarosa
5. Sam Concepcion
6. Eric Nicolas
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Michael Pangilinan

So far, judges’ ranking for Kakai is agreeable, but with Denise whom they gave the standing ovation last night is not in their second. With the artists’ votes, Denise was pulled up to second.

Here’s the final ranking from the points accumulated from judges and artists’ votes:
1. Kakai Bautista
2. Denise Laurel
3. Michael Pangilinan
4. KZ Tandingan
5. Eric Nicolas
6. Myrtle Sarosa
7. Kean Cipriano
8. Sam Concepcion
Congratulations to Kakai who really deserves the win this week.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs every Saturday and Sunday nights on ABS-CBN 2.

Recap: Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 October 11, 2015

  • The fun continued tonight with three more performers as the five were done last night. The following performers for tonight were:

Eric Nicolas- He impersonated actress Whoopi Goldberg which he performed “I Will Follow You” from the hit 1990s film “Sister’s Act”. He may not completely looked like Whoopi but the performance is all fun.

Denise Laurel- She nailed her impersonation of Broadway Diva Lea Salonga. Knowing Lea for her clean singing and pitch perfect, Denise never shown intimidation for her performance. She sang “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal?” (Why Do I Love You So Much?) very well. Tonight, I think she is the best performer.

Sam Concepcion- It was fun to see Sam nailing his performances. Tonight, he impersonated Dong Abay of the band Yano. As usual, he did it well and served as his redemption from last week’s poor performance.

This week is the best episode of YFSF2 as the artists did very well in their performances. My poorest performer for me is Kean Cipriano. Here’s my ranking for all the performances:

    1. Denise Laurel
    2. KZ Tandingan
    3. Sam Concepcion
    4. Kakai Bautista
    5. Myrtle Sarosa
    6. Eric Nicolas
    7. Michael Pangilinan
    8. Kean Cipriano

The judges had spoken and already gave their judgement. However, the artists’ votes affected the ranking. The result for this week’s episode below:

    1. Sam Concepcion
    2. Denise Laurel
    3. Kakai Bautista
    4. KZ Tandingan
    5. Kean Cipriano
    6. Eric Nicolas
    7. Michael Pangilinan
    8. Myrtle Sarosa

Sam again won for the second time. He’s a frontrunner and will surely make it at the top four. So far, this show is all about fun and giving the entertainment for the viewers.

Next week will be another exciting week as the artists already knew who are they impersonating. Surely, there will be lots of surprises again. We are also looking forward for Melai’s impersonation.

Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 airs on ABS-CBN 2 every Saturday and Sunday night.
