One of the hardest thing to hear from your loved ones is the word “Bye” or “Goodbye”. We had heard a lot of songs using that word which were really sad songs. Here are some of the songs with “bye or “goodbye” in its title:

Mariah Carey- Bye Bye
This song was co-written by Mariah for her father who already passed away, as well as her other loved ones. It was also dedicated to those who had lost their loved ones and I can relate to this song as I lost my parents too. The song performed moderately in the charts which had a high note in the US reaching the top 20.

Spice Girls- Goodbye
Months after Geri Halliwell, known as Ginger Spice, left the Spice Girls, this song was released and was intended for Geri. It was a successful single as it hit the top of the charts, including United Kingdom.

James Blunt- Goodbye My Lover
This is such a sad song when you are losing your lover. The song performed well in some countries after reaching the top 10 particularly in Europe.

When what you have about your former lover is just a memory, and you don’t want to say “goodbye” from it. The song then became a number two hit in the US.

Celine Dion- I Love You Goodbye
Saying “goodbye” to someone you love because you know you can give the love back that person deserves and will hurt him/her. The song was not released as an official single in major charts but performed well in the Philippines.

Memorable lines in songs: Boyz II Men

Boyz II Men were also known gor their love songs or ballads. Could it be pleading, heartbreak or the real love. Here are some of the memorable lines in their songs.

It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday
“And I’ll take with me the memories/ To be my sunshine after the rain”
It’s like all you had was memories with the girl you once love but you can’t let go of that.

End of the Road
“Will you love me again like you loved me before/ This time I want you to love me much more”
The end has already come for the relationship but the guy still love the girl and asked if she wil still love like before or even more.

I’ll Make Love to You
” Anything that you ask/ I will give you the love of your life, your life, your life”
A song about love-making with the one you love. The guy seems submissive with the girl, huh?

On Bended Knee
” Can we go back to the days our love was strong/ Can you tell me how a perfect love goes wrong”
Boyz II Men often had a song about ending relationships. However, love is still there and asked how could that pain happen.

Water Runs Dry
” Now they can see the tears in our eyes/ But we deny the pain that lies deep in our hearts”
I love those lines as it happens. It’s painful yet we deny. This is another heartbreaking song.

One Sweet Day (with Mariah Carey)
“Although the sun will never shine the same again/ I’ll always look to a brighter day”
Looking back to those sweet days when the guy and the girl is still together. But still hoping things would be okay.

Four Seasons of Loneliness
” Cause I need your love to comfort me and ease my pain/ Or four seasons will bring the loneliness again”
It seems four seasons had already passed after the separation but the pain is still there and love is the only cure with that girl.

A Song for Mama
” Never gonna go a day without you/ Fills me up just thinking about you/ I’ll never go a day without my mama”
These lines gave me tears. I miss my mother and I can’t say those words to her now.

Top R&B Songs 1995-1999

During the second half of 1990s, R&B is slowly chnaging its landscape to more upbeat from the slow jams R&B lovers used to love. Here are the 15 R&B songs I listed that made impact during this era.

Montell Jordan- This is How We Do It
Going back to 1995, I used to hear this hip-hop R&B hit on radio and on MTV. It was very popular then as it became Montell’s signatue song.

Shaggy- Boombastic
The song was also popular as it waa used for a clothing/denim brand. It was very huge then and that one of Shaggy’s biggest hit ever.

Mariah Carey- Fantasy
This is one of the earliest rap-sung collaboration and remix hit, Mariah is slowly going to deeper R&B sound and this track was a chart-topper.

Whitney Houston- Exhale (Shoop, Shoop)
In this song, Whitney Houston showcases lower register of her voice which sounds so relaxing. It was a chart-topping song in some countries which of course included US.

TLC- Waterfalls
This is one of my favorite songs ever because of its simple melody and timely and relevant lyrics. It has become one of the most successful R&B track of the decade.

Coolio- Gangsta’s Paradise
This hip-hop song became Coolio’s masterpiece and was eventually a worldwide and one of the biggest sellers during 1990s.

Bone Thugs N Harmony- Tha Crossroads
The hip-hop group went spiritual this time and was a good formula as it scored them their biggest hit.

Toni Braxton- Un-break My Heart
Toni Braxton came out with another heartbreaking song which was one of the biggest songs of 1997. The song also was one of her best vocalled song.

R. Kelly- I Believe I Can Fly
This could have been R.Kelly’s most notable song with its nice R&B ballad melodies. It is also inspirational for many as it was used as winning piece for some singing competition contestants.

Usher- You Make Me Wanna
This has been one Usher’s earlier hits and the song was too tender and smooth with some guutar riffs on it.

Puff Daddy ft. Faith Evans & 112- I’ll Be Missing You
The song’s chorus was interpolated from The Police’s hit and helped the song become a big seller. It is also a tribute for Notorious B.I.G.

Boyz II Men- A Song for Mama
This is one of my favorite R&B hit during the period it was released as I dedicate it to my mother. It settled to a top ten position then.

K-Ci and Jojo- All My Life
This is a sweet song by a guy for a lady and one of the most favorited love songs in 1998. It went on to become a number one song for the duo.

Brandy and Monica- The Boy is Mine
Brandy and Monica was considered rivals and they fought for the love of a man via this song which was a worldwide smash.

TLC- No Scrubs
After taking a long break, TLC broke the chart with this comeback by which the girls doesn’t want a guy who has nothing.
