Blue- Guilty / Best of Blue: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Blue- Guilty
United States- Plans didn’t push through when breaking the American market. However, American singers were featured in a song from the album. It was “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” with Stevie Wonder and Angie Stone.

United Kingdom- Blue continued to make a streak of top 10 hits in United Kingdom with their album “Guilty”. The album had released a total of four singles and all of them charted. Check their top 10 hits below:
Guilty- #2
Breathe Easy- #4
Bubblin’- #9
Blue scored a total of three top 10 hits in United Kingdom. Their biggest hit has been “Guilty” for peaking at number 2, whiel Breathe Easy did well at number 4. It is their only album to miss a number 1 single though, as their two previous albums did have number 1 hit/s. Their other single which failed to reach the top 10 was “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” with the original singer of the song Stevie Wonder and R&B singer Angie Stone.

Since their biggest hit was “Guilty” for peaking at number 2, I will be sharing that song below, along with its chorus. Enjoy and see below:

Guilty (Chorus)
If it’s wrong to tell the truth
What am I supposed to do
All I want to do is speak my mind (speak my mind)
If it’s wrong to do what’s right
I’m prepared to testify
If loving you with all my heart’s a crime
Then I’m guilty

Blue- Best of Blue
United States- Blue had released a compilation album without any top 10 hit in the US.

United Kingdom- Blue had released just one single from the compilation album in United Kingdom. See the song below:
Curtain Falls- #4
Good thing Blue hit the top 10 before hiatus. “Curtain Falls” even became one of their notable hits.

Since “Curtain Falls” was the only single which became a hit from the compilation, I would like to share the song here. Check below and enjoy:

Curtain Falls (Chorus)
We’ll be ready when the curtain might fall
Feel my heart beating when the crowd calls
I gotta read between the lines
Cuz I’m living out the script of my life
Cuz we all got a part we must play
And I’ve done it but I’ve done it my way
I gotta read between the lines
Oohh (oohh)
In the script of my life

Blue- One Love: Top 10 Singles in US and UK /Memorable Chorus of a Song

Blue- One Love
United States- Efforts were made to release the album “One Love” by Blue. Nevertheless, it didn’t push through. So the guys never had a top 10 hit and nothing even charted.

United Kingdom- Blue maintained their success in United Kingdom for generating hits from their second album “One Love”. Three official singles were released. To see their top 10 singles in UK charts, check below:
One Love- #3
Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word (with Elton John)- #1
Breathe Easy- #4
Obviously, all of the official singles from the album “One Love” charted and peaked inside the top 10 or even top 5. “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”, a collaboration with Elton John, the original singer of the song, was the only number 1 hit. “One Love” is still considered a hit for reaching number 3. While the ballad “Breathe Easy” was a hit for reaching number 4. Another song “Supersexual” was not released as a single in Unoted Kingdom.

“Sorry Means to Be the Hardest Word” was the most successful single from the album “One Love”. However, I am picking up “One Love” to share because it has a good lyrics and an original hit from the guys. The song is not just about intimate love rather, about universal love. It was also very successful in Asia and became a chart-topper in our country so I am sharing the song. Check the chorus of the hit below and watch the video to enjoy the song:

One Love (Chorus)
One love – for the mother’s pride
One love – for the times we cried
One love – gotta stay alive
I will survive
One love – for the city streets
One love – for the hip-hop beats
One love, Oh I do believe
One love is all we need

Blue- All Rise: Top 10 Singles in US and UK and Memorable Chorus of a Song

Blue- All Rise
United States- Blue almost tried to break the American market but didn’t push through so the album never had a top 10 single in the country. If they tried, they may had at least hit single/s in the country.

United Kingdom- Blue became one of the top boybands in UK during their time. This debut album of them actually had a total of four top 10 hits from total of four singles released. Those songs were:
All Rise- #4
Too Close- #1
If You Come Back- #1
Fly By II- #6
All of their singles released managed to reach top 10. One of their songs called “Best in Me” was released particularly in Asia so it did not managed to chart in United Kingdom. Two of their songs reached number 1 which happens rarely in some groups. The first one was “Too Close”, an American group Next original and the R&B ballad “If You Come Back”. “All Rise” can still be credited for the guys’s success though as it charted higher in other countries.

Blue’s biggest hits were the two number 1 hits in UK. However, “Too Close” wasn’t their original song, and “If You Come Back” was their original. The ballad was also my favorite song from the album so I picked the song to share and its chorus. Enjoy the video and the chorus of the song below:

If You Come Back (Chorus)
And I swear, If you come back in my life
I’ll be there till the end of time
(Come back to me
Come back to me
Back into my life)
And I swear, I’ll keep you right by my side
‘Cause baby, You’re the one I want
(Come back to me
Come back to me
Back into my life)
Oh yes you are

Album’s Singles Review: Blue “All Rise”

While boybands like Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and Westlife are dominating the music scene, Blue was introduced to the music industry. They came out with their debut album “All Rise”, also the title of their first single. The group though don’t want to be labeled as a boyband, but well, they can never change the perception of people towards them being a boyband. Anyway, their music is way different from other boybands. The album “All Rise” is  a UK charttopper as well as going multiplatinum.

All Rise
It is refreshing to hear a new sound from a group of boys. This song is a simple R&B song and it was a success in European countries including UK.
Rate: 7.25 out of 10

Too Close
The boys made their own version of this R&B hit original by R&B boy group, Next. The song is almost exactly the same with its original, with its music background slightly changed. The song became the group’s first ever UK number one single.
Rate: 5.75 out of 10

If You Come Back
The song is pop R&B ballad released as their third single. It is a beautiful song with great vocals of Ryan. The song became the group’s second UK number one hit, as well as doing well in Asia.
Rate: 8.5 out of 10

Fly By
“Fly By” was released as the last offical single for “All Rise”. It is a pop R&B song reminiscent of their first single “All Rise”. There’s a part which reminded me of Notorious B.I.G. after a sample was used from the rapper’s posthumous number one single “Notorious”. The song charted in many countries with UK, where it peaked inside the top 10.
Rate: 6.75 out of 10

Best in Me
This song was not officially released as a single for “All Rise”. It was a big hit in Asia though, particularly in the Philippines where it was a big radio hit.

Trends and Cliches in Mainstream Music (2000-2004)

Music is still very much alive from 2000-2004, however, album sales was seen on its decline. This was due to the rise of digital music and piracy. Still, we saw the trends in music with the rise of new artists, as well as trends in genres.

First-week million sales
It has been a phenomenon in music to sell one million copies in just one week. The record breaker for a long time was set on first quarter of 2000 when NSYNC broke sales with 2.4 million US sales. That same year, Eminem broke more than 1.7 million for “Marshall Mathers LP, Britney Spears second LP “Oops… I Did It Again” with more than 1.3 million and Limp Bizkit’s “Chocolate Starfish and Hotdog Flavored Water” with more than 1 million. Several artists this era reached a million in first week like Usher, Norah Jones and Backstreet Boys (had two albums with Millenium from 1999). NSYNC held the second place for a long time to with “Celebrity” with 1.8 million plus, and another album from Eminem.

Boybands going hiatus
Boybands enjoyed their peak during 1995-1999. They started the new millenium with a bang, but as 2002 started, boybands such as Backstreet Boys and NSYNC took hiatus. European boybands continued though like Westlife and Blue.

Going solo
As boybands and girlbands go hiatus, many members of those groups went solo. NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake achieved success with his debut. Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys though had limited success. While Beyonce of Destiny’s Child had her superstardom began in 2004.

Young female stars going sexy
We also saw the young female stars going sexier this era. Britney Spears left her role model image as she has gone sexy in her third album. Christina Aguilera is very notable though as she has shown her dirtiest image in 2002 with her video “Dirrty” and her breakout album “Stripped”.

Young female pop/rock stars
In 2002, Avril Lavigne rocked the charts with her debut album “Let Go”. Despite Michelle Branch first came out, she was not credited for the rise of pop/rock music. Vanessa Carlton had platinum success with her debut album, while Jennifer Love Hewitt released a pop/rock album. We also saw Hillary Duff and Ashley Simpson followed the pop/rock genre.

Rock bands
Rock has become a very popular genre in 2000 with the success of Limp Bizkit. Linkin Park became victorious too who scored the biggest selling rock album of the decade with “Hybrid Theory” and a huge second album “Meteora”. Nickelback, Coldplay and Creed became successful this era too.

R&B music
R&B music has been on its peak when year 2000 begun. It was led by Destiny’s Child, Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, Beyonce and others. Even pop stars incorporated R&B in their music.

Hip-hop music
Hip-hop music scene is very much alive this era too. We saw the success of Eminem, Nelly and Ja Rule, as well as the introductory of Chingy, 50 Cent and others.

Remixes
Remixes has been popular too this era. It started when Jennifer Lopez topped the charts with “I’m Real” which led to the release of her remix album. The album set record when it went to number one. Other successful remix albums were from P. Diddy and Linkin Park.

Some facts from Wikipedia

Memorable song lines: Blue

British R&B pop boyband Blue has been huge a decade ago and serenaded their fans with love songs and some good songs about social responsibilities we have about showing love to other people. Below are sone of the memorable lines in their songs.

All Rise
“Three for the calls/ You’ve been making/ It’s four for the times/You’ve been faking”
The guy is proving the wrong things the girl is doing. It was written in this song like they in court room.

If You Come Back
“So if I did something wrong/ Please tell me/ I wanna understand”
One of the supplicating songs from Blue. The guy is asking what’s his mistakes just to be put back together.

One Love
” Sometimes love works in mysterious ways/ One day you wake up gone without a trace”
This is about love for everything but in a positive way. In the lines above, love really works that way. But it should be sustained since it can possibly go away.

Breathe Easy
” Cruel to the eye/ Watching him hold what used to be mine”
It shows how painful it is to see someone you still love is in other arms already.

Guilty
” If loving you with all my heart’s a crime/ Then I’m guilty”
Loving is never a crime, if it is then everyone loving will be guilty. It’s about telling the truth about how you feel.

U Make Me Wanna
” You make me wanna love, you make me wanna fall/ You make me wanna surrender my soul”
It’s up for you to think what’s on your mind in these lines. It can be true.

Best in Me
“‘Cos you bring out the best in me, like no-one else can do”
I can feel the real love in these lines. It’s just that it’s the girl who can put up a good guy. Well, it depends on the girl anyway.

Curtains Fall
” And I will never give you up or let you go/ Together we faced our final fears”
The song by the guys for their fans. It just happens that it is the last official performing single by the group before hiatus.
