Oasis- Be Here Now United States-Oasis was very successful with their previous album, then they released the album “Be Here Now”. It peaked as high as number 2 in the album’s chart and had gone platinum by RIAA. Still, it was their highest peaking album in the country as it reached number 2, while other albums peaked lower. They had released at least three official singles off “Be Here Now”, however, nothing charted inside the top 10. No song even reached the Hot 100. Nevertheless, they had three songs to chart at the alternative countdown. The first one was “D’You Know What I Mean?” at number 4. “All Around the World” was a number 15 hit in that chart, while “Don’t Go Away” at number 5, considered high position.
United Kingdom- Oasis did very well in United Kingdom again with “Be Here Now”. Actually, it was the fastest selling album there. Even the biggest British artist at that time, the Spice Girls, are not able to surpass or defeat their record, which their album was released a week behind Oasis’ “Be Here Now”. Oasis, again, scored two number 1 hits with “D’You Know What I Mean?” and “All Around the World”. While the second single “Stand By Me” peaked at number 2. “D’You Know What I Mean?” had great sales when BPI certified it with Platinum. “Don’t Go Away” didn’t chart since it was not released there.
Oasis’ biggest hit in America, based on alternative songs chart, was “D’You Know What I Mean?”. It was also their biggest selling single in United Kingdom for reaching Platinum status and number 1 despite “All Around the World” reached number 1. In 1997, they decided to release their follow-up “Be Here Now”. The album still has the sound heard in their previous albums, but the songs from the album were too long. Also, it has more noise on it compared to their second album. The album was a hit worldwide especially in UK when it recorded the fastest selling album in the country and set 6x platinum status according to BPI. In US, it reached number 2, higher than any of their previous albums. It was certified platinum there by RIAA.
D’You Know What I Mean?
“D’You Know What I Mean?” was released to lead the album “Be Here Now”. The song was known for its length. It was more than 7 minutes and the introduction was too long. The song still became a hit reaching number 1 in UK as well as some European countries. It only charted in alternative songs in US. Rate: 7.5 out of 10
Stand By Me
“Stand By Me” was the second single from Oasis third album “Be Here Now”. The song sounds better to me than “D’You Know What I Mean?”. It is still lengthy with its almost 5 minutes duration. It became a hit in UK reaching number 2, and charted well in Asia. Rate: 8.25 out of 10
All Around the World
“All Around the World” was the third single released from “Be Here Now”. The song was the second best single released from the album, It even became the band’s second number 1 single from the album in UK. It also charted in rock charts in US. Rate: 8.0 out of 10
Don’t Go Away
