Album’s Singles Review: “21st Century Breakdown” by Green Day

21st Century Breakdown (album)
Green Day has been highly successful with their previous album “American Idiot”. Their follow-up “21st Century Breakdown” was intended to follow the success of the previous release. As usual, the album had the same sound with their previois album and it still a masterpiece. The album was a success for reaching number 1 worldwide, though sales were lower compared to “American Idiot”.

Know Your Enemy
“Know Your Enemy” was released as the carrier single of the album “21st Century Breakdown”. It is punk rock track which its sound was the usual kind of music they usually do, with somewhat political theme. The song’s melody was just repetitive. It went to the top 30 of both the US and UK.
Rate: 6.75 out of 10

21 Guns
“21 Guns” became the second single for the LP “21st Century Breakdown”. It is an alternative rock ballad which sounds like the part 2 of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. It was a hit in a lot of countries which it went to top 10 in Europe. In United States,  it peaked at number 22.
Rate: 8.25 out of 10

21st Century Breakdown
“21st Century Breakdown” was obviously the title track of the album. It wasn’t released in other countries and charted in limited territories. It was popular in Asia especially its music video which charted on MTV and MYX Philippines. The song is punk rock song which was a signature sound of them from the 1990’s. It neither charted in United States nor United Kingdom.
Rate: 7.0 out of 10

Eminem- The Slim Shady LP: Top 10 and 40 Singles in US and UK

Eminem-The Slim Shady LP
United States- Eminem already had records released before this LP but this one can be considered as his breakthrough album. It was a hit number 2 album and was even gifted with certification of 5x platinum by RIAA. The words “Slim Shady” was his alter ego that’s why it was the title of his album. There were about three singles released from this album, however, nothing ever reached the top 10. It has scored a top 40 hit though which was listed below:
My Name Is- #36
Only one single even charted from the album as songs such as “Role Model” and “Guilty Conscience” with another rapper Dr. Dre. His songs also charted on Billboard’s component charts.

United Kingdom- Eminem certainly achieved success from the album “The Slim Shady LP”. Aside from hitting the top 10 spot, it was even a big seller as it was awarded by BPI with 3x platinum. Three songs were also released and those songs were listed below:
My Name Is- #2
Guilty Conscience (with Dr. Dre)- #5
Eminem had two hit songs from “The Slim Shady LP”. Success waa achieved when “My Name Is” peaked at number 2. His collaboration with fellow rapper and friend Dr. Dre “Guilty Conscience” was a top 5 hit when it took the fifth spot. Nevertheless, those were the only songs which made it to the charts. “Role Model” failed to chart, perhaps it was unreleased or ineligible to enter the chart.

The biggest hit by Eminem from the album was “My Name Is”. It was the only song from the album to chart in United States, and the highest peaking song in United Kingdom. Also, it was the most known song by Eminem from the album “The Slim Shady LP”. I will be sharing the song below to enjoy and hoping you will enjoy it, just in case you are not familiar of the song.

Music 10 K’s: Kanye West to Knock You Down

1. Kanye West
Who can forget about Kanye West? He is very controversial on what he does, including stuff he and his wife Kim Kardashian does. Apart from that, he was considered as a great musicians. He also had a lot of hit songs and albums.

2. Keep On Moving
This is a dance pop track by British boyband Five. I admit, I am not a fan of their songs, but I do appreciate this song. This was way back in 2000.

3. Keeps Gettin’ Better
This was a compilation album by Christina Aguilera. It also released a single also called “Keeps Gettin’ Better”, became her last solo single to reach ths US top 10.

4. Keane
They were a great band from United Kingdom. Their music was similar to Coldplay, but both were great bands, no need for comparisons.

5. Kelsey
Yes, it is a name. But it is also a song by duo Metro Station. I love the song but they weren’t releasing new records recently. They had a hit song which was “Shake It”

5. Kiss and Tell
This was the title of Selena Gomez and the Scene’s album. The album wasn’t that successful, though follow-ups were okay.

6. Kendrick Lamar
He is one of the greatest rapper today and his album”To Pimp a Butterfly” was a Grammy winner. It was even well-received by many and was one of the best releases of 2015.

7. Key to My Life
This was the first song by Boyzone which was a hit in United Kingdom. It is a great ballad anyway, though quite a bit cheesy.

8. Kylie Minogue
She is one of the top pop supertars spanning in a number of decades. She also had an album with the same title of her name.

9. Kristen Bell
I thought she is just an actress, but yeah she is a good singer too. Remember the voice of her in the film “Frozen” where she released singles too.

10. Knock You Down
A song by Keri Hilson. It was her biggest single ever and featured Kanye West and Ne-Yo. It is a lovely track with its R&B beats and synth on it.

Oasis- Be Here Now: Top 10 Singles in US and UK

Oasis- Be Here Now
United States- Oasis was very successful with their previous album, then they released the album “Be Here Now”. It peaked as high as number 2 in the album’s chart and had gone platinum by RIAA. Still, it was their highest peaking album in the country as it reached number 2, while other albums peaked lower. They had released at least three official singles off “Be Here Now”, however, nothing charted inside the top 10. No song even reached the Hot 100. Nevertheless, they had three songs to chart at the alternative countdown. The first one was “D’You Know What I Mean?” at number 4. “All Around the World” was a number 15 hit in that chart, while “Don’t Go Away” at number 5, considered high position.

United Kingdom- Oasis did very well in United Kingdom again with “Be Here Now”. Actually, it was the fastest selling album there. Even the biggest British artist at that time, the Spice Girls, are not able to surpass or defeat their record, which their album was released a week behind Oasis’ “Be Here Now”. Three singles were released from the album as well.
D’You Know What I Mean?- #1
Stand By Me- #2
All Around the World- #1
Oasis, again, scored two number 1 hits with “D’You Know What I Mean?” and “All Around the World”. While the second single “Stand By Me” peaked at number 2. “D’You Know What I Mean?” had great sales when BPI certified it with Platinum. “Don’t Go Away” didn’t chart since it was not released there.

Oasis’ biggest hit in America, based on alternative songs chart, was “D’You Know What I Mean?”. It was also their biggest selling single in United Kingdom for reaching Platinum status and number 1 despite “All Around the World” reached number 1. So check “D’You Know What I Mean?” below, and expect a lengthy song:

Take That- Nobody Else / Greatest Hits: Top 10 Singles in US and UK

Take That- Never Forget
United States- Take That finally break the American market through the album “Nobody Else”. They also released a single which charted, but let’s see what went to top 10.
Back for Good- #7
Take That finally scored a top 10 single in the country with “Back for Good” when it peaked at number 7. However, the guys were considered one-hit wonder as it is their only single to grace the American singles chart.

United Kingdom- Take That remained superstars in United Kingdom through this album. They had released three zingles off the album, and the songs which went to top 10 were:
Sure- #1
Back for Good- #1
Never Forget- #1
The guys apparently reached number 1 with all their singles from the album. But among those singles which went to number 1, “Back for Good” was their biggest hit as it sold more than a million copies in the country alone. Still, “Sure” and “Never Forget” became big hits. The group already totaled 12 top 10 hits and 7 number 1 hits at the time.

Take That had three number 1 singles from the album. The most standout was “Back for Good” as it is the biggest seller in UK, and their only single to chart in the US. Worldwide, it was also their biggest hit. Hence, I am sharing that song.

Take That- Greatest Hits
United States- No singles were released from the album, as well as the album itself.

United Kingdom- Take That released the compilation album “Greatest Hits” after three hit albums in the country. It only released one single and see if it reached the top 10:
How Deep is Your Love- #1
Take That’s only single released from the album was the remake of Bee Gees’ original hit “How Deep Is Your Love”. The single became a hit when it reached number 1.

Eventhough the song was not their original song, I am going to share the song which their own version is a good one too.

Atomic Kitten- Feels So Good / Greatest Hits: Top 10 Singles in US and UK / Memorable Chorus of a Song

Atomic Kitten- Feels So Good
United States- “Feels So Good” was the last studio album by Atomic Kitten but it wasn’t released in United States again, and no single even charted.

United Kingdom- Atomic Kitten continues to make a string of hits and two singles was released from this final studio album of the girls. See what songs entered the top 10:

Atomic Kitten had two additional singles to reach the top 10. First with “If You Come to Me” which reached number 3 and followed by “Ladies’ Night” which featured the original group who performed the song Kool and the Gang. The girls made a total of 11 top 10 singles after that under their name.

Atomic Kitten’s most successful hit from the album was “If You Come to Me”, a mid-tempo track from them. The follow-up made it to number 8. That’s why I would be sharing the girls’ biggest hit from the album which was “If You Come to Me”. Check the video below:

If You Come to Me (Chorus)
Do you know when you go when you give it all away
I’ll be there for you, care for you
Love you everyday oh baby
And do you feel the same for me?
Everyday you’re away
And I feel a little low
I would cry for you, die for you
Just to let you know oh baby

Atomic Kitten- Greatest Hits
United States- No single was released in US from the compilation album.

United Kingdom- Atomic Kitten released this compilation album with two singles released. See what went to top 10 below:

Cradle 2005- #10
Two former singles were re-released from the compilation album. First with “Someone Like Me” which had a double-sided single with their re-release of “Right Now” which was a number 8 hit. Followed by “Cradle” which was a number 10 hit.

I had chosen “Someone Like Me” to share since it is a new track from them. Enjoy the song below:

Someone Like Me (chosen lines from the song)
I know Its hard when you’re feeling down
To lift your feet up off the ground
We make mistakes but doesn’t everybody
You don’t always have to agree with someone like me
That’s the way it should be
Someone like me

Savage Garden had became one of Australia’s biggest pop artists. They achieved success not just in their own country, rather, became successful musicians worldwide. It started with this self-titled album which sold millions of albums. The album is consisted of pop rock songs which led comparisons to Swedish pop rock duo, Roxette, which they had similar sounds.

This song is pop rock with lyrics sang too fast. I remember when I try to sing it but hardly succeeded due to the fast verses. The song brought them to mainstream success when it reached the top 5 of Billboard Hot 100.

Album’s Singles Review: Pussycat Dolls “PCD”

Pussycat Dolls became the top girl group of their time. It is reminiscent of Spice Girls, though they were more in a sexy inage due to burlesque style through their album PCD. The album contained pop, R&B and dance music with some sexual and feministic theme. The album became very successful worldwide which it went 3x platinum in the US.

Don’t Cha (ft. Busta Rhymes)
This song is somewhat seductive with its theme. It featured rapper Busta Rhymes with its rap part before the last chorus. In the music video, the girls has shown heavy choreography in their dance sequence. It eventually became a worldwide hit reaching number 1 and 2 in the UK and US, respectively.
