Teaching shapes to toddler at home can be made a quite interesting event. One day I thought about creating a simple activity for him to let him learn different shapes. But I never wanted to teach him all the type of shapes because that way he will become confused. So, I started with only the basic ones like square, rectangle, triangle, oval.
In order to make my son learn different shapes I just took one Advertisement paper which I had at my home. You know Mamas, I am very frugal when it comes doing activities. I always prefer to do these activities with things I can find at home only.
So, I just took this advertisement paper which was just lying there and started making shapes with a pencil.
Next, I asked my son only to cut these shapes, he was so excited to do that. I helped him cut them in a proper way of course because he can’t do that himself.
I was able to cut square, circle, rectangle, triangle and oval shapes and I didn’t wanted any more of these.
However, my son was still not happy because the Ad paper was still there so he wanted a bit more, so instead of the shapes he just asked me to cut some other artwork which was already there like you can see in the image below:
So, this was an easy and fun filled activity to teach shapes to toddler at home. Has your toddler started recognising shapes? If yes how did you made him learn that. Would love to hear from you in the comment box below. And make sure to please pin this post to share it with other Mamas like you:
